Disney Dream Cruisers November 27, 2011

Welcome back - must have been amazing to be sailing on the Wonder for so long! :goodvibes

it was amazing...I felt like I lived there!! The cast/crew were so much fun and they just kept laughing at me not getting off the ship. The whole trip was 32 days...started at DLR and ended with 5 days in Seattle.

I took over 10gig of photos...got some amazing shots, but mostly I was just loving the group that I travel with regularly...they all got onboard in LA for the repo and Alaska cruises...we have so much fun together.

None of them are on this cruise...so I am looking for NEW friends to hang with and party with!!!

My DGF is going to be joining the Dis this weekend, so I know this group will welcome her to the dis and her FIRST Disney cruise!!!

Hi Diane -

Are you referring to the ABC Christmas Parade (they should be filming it the weekend we get off the ship) or the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party?

The ABC Christmas Parade is free (included with the price of your park ticket), the park is very crowded that day by Main Street & the castle where the filming takes place - we saw the Jonas Brothers perform a few years ago for the parade - my daughter loved it, but since it is for a TV show, they had several takes, I had enough after the 2nd take ;) - last year we stayed away from MK the day of filming. But I am glad we saw it that one time.

The MVMCP is fun, we have done this a few times, but skipped it last year because we felt as though they have been getting very crowded and not worth the money (we were able to go to the Halloween Party the prior year and that was fantastic, worth every penny). The parade is nice, the hot cocoa & cookies are ok and snow on Main Street very cool :thumbsup2. They have dance parties for the kids - which is fun to watch. Holiday Wishes is really very good (especially if you are a fan of fireworks) :goodvibes. I think the tickets this year are a little over $60 per person - we are going to skip it again, since we have done it before.

Our most favorite Holiday activity to do in Disney World is to see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights over at Disney Hollywood Studios. They turn the lights on at dusk, 'snow' will be falling & it is free with your park ticket. We also love looking at the decorations at the hotels (especially the Grand Floridan). :santa:

Not sure if my response was helpful or not (sorry) - I am glad I have attended the MVMCP in the past, my kids did enjoy it - for me it just isn't worth the money to do it again.

Happy Planning!:goodvibes Jeannine

Thanks for the feedback. We are going for it. Got lucky and made reservations at Cinderella Royal Table at 6:45 so it will work out great. My granddaughter is a big Cinderella fan.
Didn't know about the lights at Hollywood Studios, will want to see them too.
Still don't know if we want to do the Candlelight at Epcot or not? Any thoughts about that with a 3 1/2 year old and a 20 month old?

Hi again

The Candlight Processional is wonderful - but you'll need to budget time to wait to get in - so depending on how patient your grandkids are it may not be right for them. We have never sat in the theater to see it - we have however, listened and watched parts of it from just outside the theater - it is very moving. We will see it in full one day, maybe this year - my kids will be 8 and 9 and are much more patient then they used to be :).

FYI Santa and Mrs. Claus are in the American Pavillion :santa: it is really nice to be able to listen to the music from the candlelight processional while standing in line waiting to see Santa

Enjoy the party and dinner at the castle :)

We loved the MVMCP at MK. We will be going again this year after we get off the ship. It will be my daughter's 10th birthday. We are surprising her with the cruise and the WDW trip, like the tv commercials. LOL.

The Osbourne lights at Hollywood studios is AMAZING. A definite do not miss.

It appears as the time gets closer the more people are thinking about this wonderful get away. I will admit it has been too long since our last cruise (2 years ago, these exact dates just on the Wonder).

Welcome to all the new comers too! It will not be long now! Cant wait to meet everyone!

Thanks, Amy!:yay:

This will now drive me to get more familiar with facebook! We joined several years ago to be able to view pictures that John of Owner's Locker posted of us after the Epcot wine meet & greet!:rotfl2:

This will be our third "Disney" cruise. Our first was our honeymoon in 1991 on the Big Red Boat with the Disney characters! Our Second was the Magic in 1999, and the latest was again on the Magic in 2003. We cruise as often as we can, but not so much on Disney, as hubby loves to spend time in the casino!:lmao:

SOOOO looking forward to our Holiday cruise on the Dream and meeting all of the great Disboard group.:dance3:

Hi I"m new on the boards. This is my very first post, and I will be on my very first Disney cruise.

Hi and Welcome!!! Prepare to become addicted :)

I am already starting to get things together. I have started to put together a list of outfits I'm buying from etsy for my girls and trying to decided on my FE gifts. I have 3 that I really like and just can't seem to choose....never know you may end up with all three ;)

I think I am using the stocking idea for our FE as well (so, much for me thinking it was going to be an original idea :lmao: ) I want to see how well my family does first before we book another cruise, then I'll invest in a FE.

Can not wait!!!! I think everyone is getting sick of me talking about it all the time :rotfl2:

Greetings!

For those of you who have ridden the Aquaduck, how easy is it to get up out of the tube at the end? Are there grab rails to help get a plump ;)55+ yr old with a weak knee UP and off without causing a scene? :lmao: Clearly, it's not a problem to FLOP DOWN into the tube, but getting this old rear out worries me!:scared1:

Thanks!
Carol

I have a video of the whole ride...there is a cast member at the end to assist those who may have difficulty exiting the ride. To get to the start are a couple of flights of steps - all easily climbed (I hate steps) and there are landing to allow folks to rest if needed. The ride moves at an easy pace, and the exit has 3 steps back to the deck. you are NOT dumped into a pool - rather it gently stops in a small area with hand rails on one side to assist yourself. I have lousy knees - I had no trouble at all. I saw a lady who had to be in her late 80's who took about 20 minutes to make the climb up ride the 'duck...then go back again and again!!! You will be fine. Lemme see if I can find the link and I will post the video if possible.

Cayla

see if this works:
http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i162/padalyn950/?action=view&current=AquaDuckVideo.mp4

that should take you to the video - no laughing at my toes...I took this video myself with my waterproof camera (got yelled at also - you are NOT allowed to hold anything while riding the 'duck, if you drop it you can damage the pumps)...I really tried to be quiet...but I loved it!!! at the very end you can see the exit - look carefully - it is a short exposure (I had to hide the camera)

My only complaint - no where to put one's towels and stuff...I hope they have fixed that, peeps were leaving stuff lay all over the place~

Thanks so much, Cayla! :worship:

I'm OK with stairs. Just had nightmares of having to have my derriere pried out of the inner tube like a champaign cork :rotfl:and the cast members needing to hoist me up like a beached whale!! :scared1:

I so want to ride the aquaduck and hubby plans to ride it until he's dizzy...good luck to him and the Red Sox!!:cool2:

Can't wait for this cruise and meeting all of great people on this wonderful disboard group!!:dance3:

Happy Week-end!!:banana::banana::banana:

Hello everyboby! This is my first post on the Disboards but I have been reading and following for awhile. We booked our cruise well over 18 months ago but only learned of the FE a few months ago. Even though I have 4 staterooms for my family of 11 (including married children, grand children and my parents, my dh and 13y/o ds are the ones participating. Our room is 8500. We are celebrating our anniversary. This is our 1st cruise. We would be honored to join you in this fun event! I'm looking for some crafty ideas...
