Disney Dream come True 8/28/2011

Here is a pic of my family from our last Disney Cruise! The kids on the left are not coming :) Anniversary cruise for me and hubby!

While I have not cleared the date w DW, for now, count me in (4 of us) for the NYC meet.

Some pointers...
If there is a meet before the sail away party... do it like 15-30 mins before the scheduled start time (has anyone seen a navigator for a 4 day dream cruise so we can plan this out)... there is not a lot of time between boarding... scoping the place out... getting in your room... unpacking a bit... doing the fire drill thing... and sail away party.

As for the Mickey Bar contest. When we did this on the Magic we did it in the Promonade Lounge. Not sure if the time and place were predetermined last time or if we internally communicated to each other while aboard. Since there are "only" 30 or 40 of us on these boards (and 3000 on the ship), one person's state room should have a white board on it that states the date and time of such events (this will also be useful as well as some folks wont know their stateroom numbers until they board -or a stateroom number could change).... that way folks putting stuff in FEs will know of any changes... and no one will be left out. This whiteboard can also be used once the time and location of the picture gets firmed up (as that wont likely happen until we are aboard). When were were on the Panama Canal Cruise... there were 4 times as many DISsers aboard a smaller ship and we tried using word of mouth... and while it worked in general... I am sure some folks got left out of certain activities that were planned "on the fly".

Finally when it comes to Mickey Bar contest. The way to get the Mickey Bars to the location of the contest is to call room service and they will deliver it. I think the guy running it ordered like 100 bars! (FYI - for those who don't know, room service is free... except for drinks).

Just so everyone knows what we look like:

So if I have this right... here are the tentative DIS meet plans:

July 30 - 11AM - NYC Mini Meet - Disney Store in Times Square followed by lunch at Hard Rock Cafe (lunch venue is tentative)

August 27 - 8PM - Pre-Cruise Meet w Yehaa Bob - River Roost Lounge, Port Orleans Riverside (first set starts @ 8:30PM)

August 29 - First on cruise meet - after Life Boat Drill and Before Sail Away Party (approx 4:15pm). Need to find a specific spot on deck 11 (or 12) to meet.

August 30 (Castaway Cay Day / Pirate Night) - Group Picture. Place and time - TBD (or should we do this on Nassau Day)... I think we should wait the extra day to work out the logistics and be able to communicate them to each other.

August 31 (sea day) - Mickey Bar Eating Contest? Place and time - TBD

Ongoing thruout the cruise:
Fish Extender (LINK)

Official Scribe Board - Disney67's room - 2026

By no means should everyone feel like they need to attend all these meets. This is, afterall, everyone's vacations... and people should feel free to veg out and not follow a schedule if they so desire.

Also... not sure if many of you listen to the DIS Unplugged Podcast - where the folks that own these boards (and run Dreams Unlimited Travel) have an entertaining Disney Podcast (if you dont listen... you should... its very entertaining). The folks running the podcast are encouraging listeners to make $10 donations to Give Kids the World, which is a Orlando area not for profit organization that helps send children who are quite ill to vacation with their families to Disney World. They hope to ultimately raise $1 million for this cause. There was a recent podcast where someone suggested that Disboards cruise meets (like ours) encourage members to contribute $10 towards this cause. Personally I think its a wonderful idea. Here is more information on the cause. Now I will get off the soap box.

Since everyone else is posting pictures...

This one is almost 3 years old on formal night on the Panama Canal cruise. (Note a four day cruise will have an "optional dress up night" on night #2 (Nassau Day)... but its very loosely followed on the 4 night. On the Panama Canal, I would say 80% of the folks took formal night seriously... in fact, I rented the tux from some rental company that supplies tuxes to DCL and other cruiselines - as many of the other DISsers were doing it as well on the 15 night).

Shouldn't the meet before the sailaway party be August 28th? The 29th is Nassau day isn't it?

You family is beautiful by the way!

Great pictures everyone!

How hard is it to post pictures? Can someone give easy instructions for someone who's never attempted this before?
