Hoping we're not too late to join the party!
We've had to change the dates of this cruise so much due to work and school but we are finally confirmed and we are in a 5b on deck 8.
This will be our fifth Disney Cruise and we'd love to join in with the FE. We are Karen, DH Andy, Sophie (17) and Eleanor (12).

On my commute home this evening I got a call on my cell phone from the 215 area code (Philadelphia PA area). It was a bit noisy on the train, but here is what I heard... It was a marketing company interested in my participating in a two hour survey in NYC on June 8 or 9 (I dont recall) where I would be paid $150 or $200 for my time.

They would not tell me who the survey was for unless I agreed to participate. I asked what time the survey would take place, and they had several options, so I agreed.

The company the survey was for was.... DISNEY!

But they needed to ask some questions first... They asked me (I think in this order)... how many Disney Cruises I have been on... how many non-Disney cruises I had been on the past five years... if there was anyone under 18 going on my next cruise... how old they were... did I own DVC... how many hours per week do I spend on the internet... finally... how often I post/participate on Disney related blogs / forums... (this question I answered 1-2 times per week... as I have not been on the Dis all that much lately)

She then put me on hold... came back... and said "sorry, but you don't qualify for this survey"

RATS! Did the Dis do me in?

It could have been any number of things, including cruises on other cruise lines, etc. It is easy to assume the Dis, if that was the last question. Because the reward for participation was so high, I am assuming that they are looking for a very specific person. Maybe they want someone who is on the Dis 24/7?? Maybe they want someone with children under the age of 12??

But you are right, letting me know about an opportunity and then telling me I don't qualify would drive me nuts and keep me awake for nights!!!

Hopefully you will hear more info and see that it was something silly like the total number of cruises...

We will be in NYC area from July 22 - August 2 (I will actually be with older daughter (17) too!) So far I have booked: Yankee Game July 24th early game, and Statue of Liberty on the 27th, 9 am. Also, we are planning on going to Coney Island on the afternoon of that following Friday. Other things on our list of things to do are shopping (teenagers) Met Museum, Museum of Nat. History, Central Park and (for me) Disney Store!!! At some point we will go to TOTR, but that is all I have on the agenda for now as we will be staying in Staten Island (Tottenville, no less... about as far away from Manhattan as one can get)

I live in NYC so just let me know when and where!

I work on Wall St and live just north of the Bronx line...

OK so how does a Disney store meet followed by lunch at the hard rock cafe sound to all ?? we can try to work to see what date Debbie is going there to pull this together . how does this sound ??

I agree! What time is sail away? And then for the people in main dining, that is what, 6pm?
I would love a group photo
Sea Day would be good, the only thing we have planned is the spa and Palo and hopefully the aquaduck/pool.

This sounds like a good plan to me too. It would be nice to put faces to names & be able to say "hi" as we see each other around the ship. Also, my kids are hoping to meet the other kids & get to know them a little before going to the kid's clubs.

I'm all for it if it falls on a weekend. I work & DD will be in camp until just before our cruise so we wouldn't be available on a weekday.

I'll make sure to plan on NOT driving on that day since Times Square is a zoo. I'm sure my daughter will want to visit all sorts of places that day . I'll see if Hard Rock takes reservations once we decide on a date. I walked past there last Thursday & it was a madhouse. The same with Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory.

Sounds good to us. We live on Long Island so it's not a problem to get the LIRR to the city.
