Disney Dream August 7, 2011

YES!!! Just got an email from Disney Cruise--Main dining!!!!!

Yippie! Got our main dining, got our Parasailing, and even though we couldn't get our first choice of hotel, I've read up on Polynesian a lot and am very happy with this choice! HOOOOOOORAY!!! NOW, I feel like I'm getting our dream vacation!

While I've never stayed at the Polynesian, I *love* visiting it. It has some awesome dining and the whole tropical feel is great, not to mention being on the main monorail track. Needless to say, I'm pretty jealous!

simba - I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter :( I'm a teacher and sometimes I feel that the community I teach in can be the same way - there is a definite "in" crowd amongst the parents/kids/families, and sometimes our kids who don't fit that "mold" seem to miss out. Is there a chance she can try again next year?

Our FE gifts are set to go - just need to assemble them before the cruise! I love watching that ticker go these days...especially because this school year has been insanely stressful and I am ready for it to end.

Thanks for the nice response. She plans to try out again next year. She is a fighter! She will just be a freshman next year and will be taking a full load including honors classes. So I told her maybe it is a good plan for her not to be too busy next year as she gets use to high school life.

Hi everyone! I know I havent been on this thread in a long time!!! We are still booked on this cruise and the one right after it! I will re-introduce myself and family!

It will be myself(Tina), DH(Tim), DD(Krystina, 14, turning 15 on 8/11), DD(Haylee, 12) and DD(Gabby 1)! We are staying at Animal Kingdom from 7/30 til we go on the cruise! Can't wait!

We are interested in FE if its still open!

We were able to book the few excursions we wanted and get our times for Palo!! We are doing a cabana on CC, We really loved it in December and can't imagine CC without it!

Welcome back:dance3:

Wow - I missed a lot yesterday! tinkerbelle, I gt your PM but will update again based on the info you posted to the thread! (Can you just provide a cabin number so we'll know where to deliver your FE gifts? :)

I had quite the momentous day yesterday, so there was no time for the DIS...

My brother is a wedding photographer, and before I got married two summers ago I used the wedding website The Knot to do a good bit of my planning. I met a number of other local brides there, and a bunch of us have struck up some great friendships. Yesterday, we took advantage of how we met and my connection with my brother and staged a mass trash-the-dress photo session in Philly. There were 8 of us total all dolled up galavanting around the city (for the locals, we were in Manuyunk) and we had the greatest time! We received some fantastic reactions from everyone we passed...the best reactions were of course from all the little girls who said we looked like princesses. For the record, no dresses were outright "trashed," but we did sit on the ground, hangout on some railroad tracks, and climb a few trees/railroad underpasses...I'll be sure to post the photos here when my brother finishes post-processing. In case anyone wants to see his work in the meantime...www.richlphotography.com :)

How fun!!!! I've heard of trash the dress pics, but never actually seen it done! Sounds like a riot!

The Polynesian is a great choice. We have a dinner reservation at Kona for the 7 of us after the cruise to celebrate 25 years of visiting WDW. The first 4 years (86 to 89) we stayed there. We have stayed at all but two of the resorts. You really can't make a "bad" choice. They all have their own special feel and amenities.

Started working on my FE today... hope they will turn out well...

Also told the nieces about the excursions I booked and they approved of my choices. :) (although they spent most of the time ooh-ing and ah-ing over my kittens)

Mackie- that sounds like a fun day; I look forward to seeing pix.

I understand! My oldest baby just graduated 8th grade today, too. I can't believe I have a soon- to- be- high schooler! Time flies. It was a nice graduation/recognition ceremony. She got a really great award! Kinda makes up for her crappy previous week.
76 days!!!!! I am ready for rest, relaxation, sun, swimming, the aquaduck, drinks of the day and no phones/work/cleaning/cooking...etc.:boat:

I can't believe my niece will be entering high school next fall, either. I don't think they have a graduation from 8th grade though- at least, I haven't heard of one. When she came over yesterday, she was wearing these high wedge heels and I was just amazed at how grown up she is getting. (although then she started talking... and she was still just as much a kid as ever :lmao:)

So... I sorta understand, too. :) (only "sorta" since it's not actually my kid)

...it sounds like we're going to have quite the crew of upcoming HS freshmen on this cruise!

...and this middle school teacher will be very pleased to go hide out at the Quiet Cove with her Drink of the Day... :X

Four weeks of school plus one week of in-service left. I am definitely ready for summer.

Did anyone see the announcements today about the Fantasy? I love the "peacock" theme of the atrium, although I have a feeling people will be divided about that here. And vintage Minnie as the statue is just adorable! Too bad that we will likely be chilling with Ariel on the Wonder in Alaska that summer, instead :)

Well after about an hour I got through all the posts. I always like to read them to see what people are talking about. We are still on the cruise and looking so forward to the trip. We are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary while cruising.:cloud9: This is our 5th DCL cruise.

Let me reintroduce the group: DH (Dave), me (Mary), DS (Ryan -11), and his friend (Sarah-11.)

Looking forward to talking to all of you.

Welcome back, Mary! Happy early anniversary...when's the date? Our anniversary is the first night of the cruise, August 7. Of course, we're celebrating 2 years, not 15... :earboy2: Kudos to you for bringing not just one 11 year old on the boat with you, but another one that's not even your kid! ;)

Finally got my Fish Extender from the ebay lady in todays mail. Came out so adorable, I love it!

Our anniversary is the 10th. We are celebrating it at Remy's that night.

We have discovered over the years that bringing a friend with us makes the trip for Ryan so much better. Sarah has been on many trips with us, but usually her family travels with us. So this will be her first time traveling with us alone.

We are going to spend a few days before and after the cruise at WDW. We are using our starwood points to stay at the Swan.

How many of you are using DCL cruise transfers to port?

I am using DCL transfer from Polynesian. : - )

We are also doing the anniversary dinner in Remy...but we delayed it until the last night of the cruise. I would have loved to go the first night but didn't want to chance missing the "show" at Animator's Palate or missing out on one of the regular restaurants. I think waiting until the end of the cruise will make our last night there less depressing, too ;)

FWIW, we are also doing WDW before the cruise and are staying at the Dolphin! No Starwood points here, but I did snag a nice teacher discount. Rob and Kristen will probably be meeting up with us one night for some Beaches and Cream at the Boardwalk...we should plan a pre-cruise meetup!

A DOTD sounds great at Quiet Cove! Call me up! Ha Ha. Thanks for being a Teacher, it takes a lot of patience I am sure! YAY for the 8th grade graduates:banana:. Maybe they can chat before the cruise.

I will soon being checking out the Fantasy announcements...I am hoping in 2012 we will be sailing on her. I am happy about the Minnie statue...cute.
