Is it just me or are the cruise forum posts getting mean and rude. Someone says something and the next post is someone ripping them a new one... I am not talking about this thread, but several on the main cruise forum board. With the sick little one at home I have been reading a lot more and am completely shocked!

I agree with you. It seems anyone who has a negative thing to say about the Dream is getting slammed pretty bad. While this is bad its not near as mean as the DVC boards. They are down right nasty, even the mods aren't too helpful as they reprimand everyone but the regulars (these people have posts in the 5 digits) and let them get away with sarcastic and rude comments to anyone who has the slightest problem with DVC. I came over to the DCL forum to get away from that. It is getting ugly around here. What ever happened to getting along?

Hi All! We are on this cruise with you all. I have been lurking but don't think I have posted yet! This is just a Mom and Dad only cruise this time and believe me my kids aren't happy about it! We are traveling with my Dsis (karana) and her DH as well and looking forward to an adult only trip but I suspect I will be eaten up with guilt as I look at all the new stuff for the Tweens and Teens to do. Luckily we are already booked on the Fantasy for 2012 in the summer! Looking forward to cruising with you all!

Anyone get their GTY assignment yet? My Dsis got hers a few days ago and she had an 8C and got an 8C! Looks like our cruise sold out in the last week. I swear there were rooms last week before the expose on the View!! I was hoping to upgrade at the port.. Oh well! I will be very happy to just be on the ship!

Just curious as we begin to create and come up with ideas for our FE (not as creative as some of our fellow passengers). I am thinking of creating magnets for everyone but someone also mentioned the need/interest in lanyards. I was able to find some that zip and can hold ID/etc.

Any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.

Gavin's Mom, I would be very interested in lanyards for this trip. We got them on our Halloween cruise this last October and loved them. It was nice running into people with the same lanyards so we knew we were all Disers! Those lanyards were orange with our cruise logo printed on them. They were the "portrait style" as opposed to the "landscape" style if that makes sense. We also got the DVC ones and the Castaway Cay club once we checked in and we liked the Diser ones MUCH better.

The DVC and CC ones have the zipper. There is an advantage to the zipper for the little ones I guess, but boy was it a pain to take it out everytime you have to use it. Although I think the room keys now don't have to be slipped into the door slot, you just swipe it I think. So maybe we could swipe it with it in the plastic.

Couldn't find a picture of them but the lady who did the lanyards actually had cards put in them with everyone Disboards name on it so it was easy to identify eahother. This looked like a great deal of work however. It would be just nice to have one that is the same color strap for all of us!

I am thinking of putting in a personalized card for everyone but unfortunately, can not upgrade to the personalized lanyard with the cruise name. I do hope to have everyones name on the front with maybe the cruise name.

Oh Patty, I did not know you had already planned something. I am sure that what ever you come up with is great!! I and I am sure others appreciate that you have even taken them on. I was just thinking you were looking for opinions. So sorry!

We aren't on the FE exchange, To be honest it makes me anxious. I am one of those people that get really nervous at a party giving a gift. I hate the thought that my FE gifts will be lame or uninventive!! I am really not creative!!


Have you come up with a price for the Lanyards? Is there a great deal of people asking for them? I am sure we would do fine with CC or DVC lanyards on this trip, I just really liked seeing other Disers by seeing the Lanyards. I am so sorry because I haven't been through the whole thread to keep up with what has been happening. Just getting excited now about the trip!

Hi Everyone - Regarding the lanyards that I am doing for the FE program. I was able to find a great lanyard that offers a clear window on the front with a zippered pocket on the back for valuables. There is nothing exciting about these. They are black with an adjustable strap. To add some personalization, I was going to insert a card on the front with everyones first name and distribute at the cruise meeting spot via stateroom as part of the FE program.

As I am not very creative, this was going to be my contribution to our fellow FE participants.

If there is an interest, I could look into a vendor we use here at my office for personalized lanyards. We could select a color and have the lanyards personalized with the cruise name and date. I am not sure of the cost but I will be happy to look into this if there is an interest.

I welcome your feedback/thoughts. With 7 weeks out - we would need to act quickly!

I'm getting so excited reading the first trip reports on the Dream. Granted, they will have bugs to work out but I'm sure things will be running pretty smooth by the time we sail. It's funny how two trip reports on the exact same sailing have opposite experiences. I'm going into this with an open mind & plan to just have fun & relax.

I've been buying things here & there the last year to use for the FE exchange--now I need to put everything together & see what I still need to pick up. I'm not one of the creative ones either but I've been having pretty good luck finding things that we'll all need at some point. I still need to figure out gifts for the girls yet--still trying to find that perfect thing!

Everyone have a great day! We have below zero windchills today so I am definitely dreaming of relaxing in a tropical breeze!

I don't know if the DCL website is messed up or they just released a ton of reservations, but I was able to pull up any time that I wanted for Palo on both of my cruises (dinner only).
There were even reservations for Remy available on the April 7th cruise (I didn't check the 4 night yet - I came right here to tell you guys instead, LOL).

I'm still hoping for brunch instead but so far, no luck.
I hope this helps someone that wants a reservation (and they it isn't a mistake, LOL).

Yeah!! I'm glad you were able to get one. I was so surprised when I looked and it was available (and with so many times). And even Remy!!

I'm still hoping for the Brunch too. I grabbed one reservation for the first night of each cruise but I think I will let the one go for the April 3rd cruise (since we don't really want to go twice anyway).

I'm so glad that I was able to help!!! I was checking again this morning and it still looks like there are plenty of reservations. I guess people that weren't able to get them at 75 days out, haven't checked back. Its hard to believe that they had so many that they were holding though. I wonder if those were the ones that they usually save for booking on board??

Hey Edith, yes we geocache! Our geocache name is the same as our dis name if you want to check out our finds next time you are on the website. We used to do it a lot and have had fun with it on trips but haven't done any recently, probably over a year. We keep saying we need to get back to it. We did not geocache on Castaway last time b/c we didn't have room to pack the GPS! Sounds fun though! Would be awesome to drop off or retrieve a travel bug there!
