Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

I remember reading about the Sea Lice too and I had the Safe Sea in my cart on Amazon ever since, LOL. I decided to go ahead and order some anyway. Better safe than sorry, LOL. I'm not going to tell the kids why though...because then they won't go in the water :rotfl2:

So I'm guessing that it is best to put it on before putting on the bathing suit so that you get it underneath (at least the seams of the suit)??

Does anyone know if it is OK to use the non-SPF version during the Dolphin Encounter? I know they say no sunscreen, but I thought I read that the non-SPF version is safe for divers, etc.

On an up-note...I got in the mail today my kid's pillowcases that Gradysmommy made for me! They are gorgeous! She put a pirate mickey head with Disney Dream on top and the kid's name underneath. We plan to drop these off at Guest Services to get signatures. We have never done this before...so something new! :yay:

Crystal, where did you get the pillowcase from? I remember reading something about this and am thinking I want to get some for the kids. They still love their ones we got signed the first time.

Well what a storm system that was. We got 18" of snow here. The kids got 3 days off school, 2 for the blizzard and one for the wind chill warnings today. But tomorrow they go back! I got a rare 1 1/2 days off work for snow days! We didn't see a plow until late yesterday and it took my husband almost the entire day to plow (with our four wheeler) our 100 yd long driveway. The kids and animals were out playing in it and i took much needed naps! We really needed this Mother Nature imposed time out as the activity schedule was getting nuts! And now we're at the 2 month mark for our much needed, hopefully sunny and warm cruise and post WDW vacation. Thank you fellow Dis'ers for the heads up on the check in process. I had already completed most of it and hadn't planned to go back to it till we got closer to the date of sailing so THANK YOU. I'm surprised I got nothing from DCL to tell me of this new process. We're staying at Pop the night before and taking Happy Limo to port. We were told of an 11:30 arrival so I chose 1130-noon arrival. All I can say we are so ready. My mom is retired so she is working on the FE gifts and our FE. She started the gifts already. She was prepared to do them while the snow storm hit her in Ohio.
We've signed up for the Dolphin encounter at Atlantis but am wavering on whether to actually do it. We have done the encounter at Sea World's Discovery Cove, so its not something we haven't done before. I was up for the Mango Rum run but that is up in the air until we finalize any excursion plans.
I have talked to people in past who have done FE exchanges and they split the group over four nights for delivering the gifts, which may help spreading it out. I think we have like 21 families, that would be 5 families assigned per evening. unless I misunderstood the whole thing.
Hope everyone is hanging in there and continuing the countdown to our Dream cruise!

Wendy

THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!

The On-Line check in has changed and you will not select an arrival time at teh port. Times for our cruise start at 10:30 and go to 3:00. If you have a specific time you want to get to the port go now in case they fill up!

I know a lot of us have shuttles from local hotels booked so we will need to be sure our times match the shuttle times!!!

Thank you for posting this! This is our first cruise and I had been procrastinating this. All they tell you is it has to be completed X number of days before sailing. I was able to get a 11-11:30 slot, so we'll be leaving WDW pretty early on Sunday morning!

jetskigrl - when we did the dolphin encounter in 09 - we didn't need the sunscreen - they give you wet suits to wear and we needed them because our group was freezing - there was some sort of overhang that shaded us ;) Bring the sunscreen for later on the beaches.

Disney On A Dime! - I remember the sea lice 'scare' in 09 but we were not affected - DH and DD spent a long time snorkling at CC and maybe we got lucky. I only do hammock time at CC - I like my swimming water to be like bath water - CC is way too cold for me - I know I'm a chicken  so glad you said something about the pillow cases - I want to do that this year. We have done the photo matte signatures for the past 2 years and those turned out really cute - time for something different!! Senor Frogs is definately not a place for the kids - I got embarrassed in there. They have swings near the front entrance and I think when families walk by they think it's family friendly - not being a prude - but not for my family :upsidedow I forgot about the bling bling ears - I better get to bedazzling :) First I've got to find some ears......

So glad to see the response from DCL regarding the goobers that did the videos. I just hope they publicize the punishment as I feel that could deter future copy cats. I don't know what I would do if my DD caused me to be kicked out of DCL forever

We have snow in our forecast sometime in the next 7 days - thankfully it will not be the 18 inches Woosh experienced! Can you all imagine if GA got 18" of snow - they would cancel school for 2 months :rotfl:

On another note - I need a Deck 7 thing in my signature and I can't make it work. I put the picture in a photobucket file and it just won't work for me. Can any of you who made it work send me a PM with a lesson for idiots on how to do it? Thanks!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Howdy neighbor! What part of GA are you in? Here in Columbus we had a little sleet this morning and my phone said we were getting it around 6PM but I didnt see any. Just a gloomy nasty day and the beginning of a two day District Honor Band clinic/concert starting tomorrow. I'll be shuffling back and forth between a middle school and a high school during this gloom. Stay warm and hopefully your snow won't materialize, we already had to give up two holidays to make ours up from January.

Ugh, no more snow in GA please! I believe right now it is supposed to snow on the day I drop off stuff at the consignment sale I volunteer at. I do not want to have to venture out in ice and snow to drop off kid's clothes... lol

Ug, that figures--I didn't get to the disboards lately since the kids had 2 snowdays. So, I just got done registering & the earliest available is now 11-11:30. I thought I'd be able to still grab the first slot--I didn't think their were that many in the know! :confused3 Oh well, at least we made the next best--thanks for the headsup EcbLovesMickey!

We have been to CC this week 3 times and no sea lice so far. I'm crossing my fingers.

I wonder if I can/should change my arrival time. If we are supposed to get picked up at 10:30 can I make an 11-11:30 time slot?

:) Thanks for the heads up on signing in at port. We are on the 10:00 shuttle from the Radisson so I picked the 10:30 - 11 at port. Glad I got to it last night before it filled up.

Fun to see all the activity on this thread, guess we are all getting excited!

Have a good weekend!

Whew, I'm on my 4th snow day this week (I'm a teacher) so I've been on Disboards non-stop!

Thanks for the heads up about registering and picking your port arrival time. I didn't realize I had not completed the registration. When my slot opened I put in our passport #'s and credit card # and thought that was all I needed to do but then reading yesterday I realized I was not done. When I went in to my account yesterday afternoon every time slot was open from 10:30 to 3:00. I picked the 11:00 time, we have friends in FL who are awesome enough to drive up to the port so we don't have to mess with a car or anything!

Does anyone know if they sell picture frames on board? I'd like to get a mat signed and then buy a Dream picture frame to put it in.

How do you buy a rainforest spa pass? I've read conflicting things about them: the pass IS included with a spa treatment, the pass ISN'T included with a spa treatment, you CAN buy ahead of time, you CAN'T buy ahead of time. Does anyone know for sure?

While we didn't get nearly as much ice and snow as the Chicago area did I can certainly say we are sick of this weather! Looking forward to the cruise is the only thing keeping me sane!

Thanks! What I was thinking about was the Safe Sea (for the Sea Lice issue) since I read that you aren't supposed to wear Sun Screen during the encounter (for the safety of the dolphins). I was just wondering if the Safe Sea without sunscreen in it was OK. But I guess wearing wetsuits will take care of that issue, LOL.

Oh darn...I was already stressed about how to gracefully exit the Aquaduck when we ride. Now I have to consider that I will be putting my big backside into a wetsuit too. That should be fun...NOT :rotfl2:

Happy Friday! :cool1:

pirate: Pillowcase Information - Ebay...search "pillowcase cruise"...I ordered from gradysmommy (Tiffany)...she is here on the boards. They cost $10.99 s/h included. She has hundreds of different characters and such. I searched through her other items such as t-shirts...to get an idea of what I wanted for the boys. It was hard to choose! This is the first time we are doing this...my kids are getting older...but everyone uses a pillowcase! :goodvibes

pirate: Sea Lice - my kids got stung back in '09. :sad2: We were some of the first people on the beach...that might have had something to do with it. We ended up back on the ship in the swimming pool with some other folks that got stung. The Safe Sea should work...I believe that most put it along the seams of their bathing suits. I think that this year I will bring some jellyfish sting removal with me...just in case...as long as the stinging stops...my boys are okay.

pirate: This new arrival time thing has got me bothered...I mean...are they really going to make a family wait until 11:30AM to board the ship...if they arrive at 11:15? It will be interesting to see what the first few sailings that have this implemented have to say...:surfweb: I understand the concept and the need for it...I just don't know if it will be practical in real time...Just my thoughts...

pirate: jk8 - I would go ahead and schedule the 11-11:30 slot. It should take a max of 1 hour to get to the port from WDW.

pirate: Dawn - How did you manage to get a 10AM slot for the Radisson shuttle? Months ago we got the 10:30 slot because the 10:00 one was already full. I called today...just to check...and the 10AM is still full due to a wedding and a business party. Anyhoo...lucky you guys! :thumbsup2 We might just end up in a cab...who knows???

pirate: Hi Carla! Fourth snow day! WhoHoo!!! :woohoo: I used to teach...snow days are the best. And here in Virginia...if you miss enough days...you don't even have to make the snow days up! :rolleyes1 As far as picture frames...yes they sell them! They have some really awesome ones, too! Yes, get your mat signed at Guest Services, and it makes a great keepsake!

pirate: I hope that everyone has a great weekend! Oh, BTW...I have been flip-flop shopping www.6pm.com has a great sale on Reef sandals. I bought 13 pairs yesterday! Yes, we are a flip-flop family! :goodvibes

I am thinking that people with reserved times may get in faster. I can't wait to see what the next few groups of cruisers say. I doubt they will turn you away if you show up early, but maybe the ones with the resevations get to go in a Fast Pass kind of lane while the walk ups go through the stand by...

And Crystal you can't take a cab, you're on the 10:30 party bus with us!!!

So sorry - I wasn't reading your question the right way - just go for a 'dry' wet suit - we were the last family up there and i had to put on a cold wet - wet suit and it didn't slide to well ;)

10:30 shuttle to the port party!!!! We need a graphic for that :rotfl:

DISigns...did someone say...DISigns??? :rotfl:

Okay...these are for the party we are going to have on our way to the port and at the port! We can't board until 11:45 or after...so many of us will be there together!
