Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

I think I am coming up on my Palo, spa, etc booking window, so I need to decide some things. I have only been on a 7 night Magic cruise so with the 4 night I am not sure how much I want to book. My friend really likes the high tea and I'm assuming they will still have that? So many more people to take up the slots I wonder what will be available?

What has anyone else booked if your window has already opened?

So I have been reading some of the restrictions, etc on the cruise site and this made me laugh so I had to share
Balloons are not permitted on board the ship due to environmental concerns. If a Guest arrives with a balloon, the balloon is tagged with the Guest's name and can be picked up after the cruise. Disney Cruise Line is not responsible if the balloon is deflated upon pick-up.

The thought of some poor Mickey balloon sitting in a storage closet and being drug out a week later and handed to some poor kid, dragging on the ground... lol

Still sick here. Got diagnosed today with the flu and since my in-laws decided to come for a visit despite my protestations I am being quarantined in my bedroom as I am still contagious.

Hi everyone...

I'm actually sailing on the 4/7 cruise but we don't have many people who like to talk on our thread! :rotfl:

Just popping in here to see if there is anyone doing the B2B cruise that wants to or hasn't signed up for the FE exchange yet?

If so...just PM me your details!

You guys are a lively bunch! I love it. Happy sailing!!!!!

TJ:thumbsup2

I booked Remy's the other night right at our 90 day window. All days were available.

All nights were available for Palo as well, although I did not check the brunch or Tea.

We are also on the Feb 20 sailing and bookings were much more difficult to come by, so hope there are still openings for the 75 day folks.

:flower3: I hope that you feel better soon! The flu stinks...and to be quarantined......don't you love in-laws! Well...my husband keeps reminding me that one day I will be the in-laws...so...I guess we have to keep it all in perspective! :cutie:

Oops, I missed the 90 day window. I can't tell if there are any more brunch reservations as the website is having trouble. I could have got Remy. No massages available except during diner and show times for us. Oh well, it is such a short cruise with so much to see on a new ship that I am not really bummed.

Oh yikes!:scared1: Our window isn't open yet and I was hoping to book a massage. I hope there's a slot left when i get a chance to book!

:yay: Everyone...please check your email for a message from Cindy about the FE exchange... As the cruise gets closer...it will be totally beneficial for all of us to have a finalized FE list...you know...how many people...how many cabins...etc...

:yay: And...anyone who has not signed up for the FE exchange, but want to participate...see the first page of this thread for instructions...

:yay: And...if you have no clue what the FE exchange is...please ask! You will not want to miss out on the fun! Trust me...once your family sees others getting goodies in their FE...they are going to want something...(Well at least my crew would...:cutie:)

:yay: DISmeets - onboard...please be on the lookout for information coming from the first few cruises on the Dream...someone should be telling others the best places for a DISmeets...:surfweb: I would assume the best time would be sometime before the mandatory drill...at least that's what I have done in the past...thoughts???

:yay: Mango Rum Run - We need to figure out a time and a meeting location for this event...give us your thoughts...especially if you have excursions booked for Nassau...let's start figuring this one out...:upsidedow

:yay: That's it for now!

I responded to the FE email this morning :cool1::cool1:

I was thinking the best time for the DISmeet would be before the drill also. I can't wait to hear about the ship from the first cruisers so that we know where to meet (as well as all the other details of the ship) :thumbsup2

For our Mango Rum Run, I would love to hear what other people are doing that day also. Our original plan was to stay on the ship that day (other than the Mango Rum Run) so that we could hang out and drink our Mango Rum :woohoo: I think we will try to do an excursion in Nassau but we will save it for our second time there (since we are doing B2B).
But if everyone is doing an excursion in the morning and then the Mango Rum Run later, I may rethink that

OK, now I have a question for all your return cruises. What do you wear on Cruise Casual nights (and what do your kids wear)? I found out that our 2-night weekend cruise is all cruise casual.....but not having been on a cruise before, I am not sure how casual that should be, LOL.

Check out this post about the Dream arriving in port. You can hear it's "horn" blow several times. I know someone's kid was worried about that, but it sounds so sweet I don't think it would scare anyone!
http://www.disunplugged.com/2011/01/04/new-disney-dream-cruise-ship-docks-at-port-canaveral/

That was my DS ;) But I let him watch the YouTube video of the Dream/Magic horn battle and he loved it. I had also told him what Crystal said about them letting us know in advance about it. So I think that set his mind to ease about the horn. I guess we will find out in 2 weeks and 2 days :rotfl2: As I had hoped, his excitement about actually going on a cruise has outweighed his fears about the horn :thumbsup2

He is so funny though. I was showing him the room layout and he said he didn't want to sleep in the bunk and he didn't want to sleep in a bed where he could wake up and see the water :confused3 But since our rooms should sleep 5, I told him there would be plenty of beds to choose from (and we will close the curtains at night anyway). My DD was very quick to say that she would love to sleep in the bunk. Of course, when he sees the one on the Dream (with the stars overhead), he will probably change his mind very fast and he and DD will be fighting over the bunk.

To the person checking on the brunch/tea on our cruise...I checked it out and there was none available, as of 2 days ago. I think the 4 day cruise only has brunch available. The cruise is so short and with new restaurants to try we don't plan on doing Remy or Palo but there were som time slots open for 1-2 people per ressie.

Mango Rum Run inquiry. Our crew does not plan on doing any Nassau excursions this time, we want to enjoy the ship. We will get off at some point so my DD14 can go to the straw market and get t-shirts at the hardrock cafe. So we are open at this point for the Mango Rum Run.

Just let me know when the Dismeet is. Can't wait to put names and faces together after all this time.

Personally I have got to get working on our FE exchange items. My mom is making our FE.

Here's to less than 3 months and countinually counting down!

Woosh

This is for jetskigrl - Cruise Casual: From what I have seen...

Men:
Khaki pants
Nicer dress pants
golf type shirts
oxford type shirts
Some might have a suit on...on our RCI cruises...people also wear jeans.
No shorts allowed
No tank tops

Women:
Sun-dress
capris
pants of any type
Dresses
A huge range of clothing options! :thumbsup2
Some women will be very fancy...others might be in beachy type outfit.
Again no shorts or tank tops

Boys:
When mine were little - khaki shorts and golf shirt
Now - Khaki pants
golf shirt
oxford shirt
Maybe????Jeans???
Again...you will see everything!

Girls:
Same as women...maybe shorts for the little ones...

You will be amazed at the assortment of clothing styles that people see in "Cruise Casual." Also...the longer the cruise...the fancier the clothing. Some shorter cruises people just don't bring the fancy stuff. And IMO...cruising has really become main-stream now...so the rules of getting all decked-out for dinner on a cruise...has sort-of died off. Most people...in all honesty...are just barely getting back from their excursions and then rushing to get ready for dinner...

Hope this helps...(Now watch...and your cruise will be extremely fancy and I will have led you the wrong way!) :scared1: Anyone else with thoughts??? :confused3

Everyone...glad to see some responses on the Mango Rum Run! Keep them coming! We don't have an excursion for that day either...so an earlier run to the store and hang out on the top deck with some rum sounds great! :goodvibes

Edit: I just ordered my first items for our FE exchange! I am so excited!!!

Thanks for the info. For some reason it is telling me that there is tea available for 3-4 people. When I try to book it gives me an error. I am trying to book with several attached parties. 2 of the ladies are 1st time cruisers but it does not give me any message I can't book them. So, either that is it, or they have not paid in full or the website is messed up. I figures though at this point there won't be any tea slots left on sea day and they won't wanto to do it on Nassau or CC day. So, I going ot scratch it off my list.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes. I am so super excited! Now for my 1st question: I got the email spreadsheet about the FE. Do I buy for everyone on that spreadsheet or is that spreadsheet just to check on who is signed up?
Thanks,
Carla:hippie:

Nothing is mandatory, I know some people go all out and buy for everyone and some buy only for kids/adults/teens.

Basically it is all for fun, if you can and want to buy or make something for everyone, awesome, if not, that's good too :)

WOO HOO - I'm glad you had such a great trip to WDW!! DL was crazy busy this week too (closures on Monday and Tuesday). I'm glad we were able to get two visits in during the holiday season though.

Thanks for the idea about the Vinylmations. DD did get one duplicate at Christmas that I will tell her to hold on to as a trader. I checked Disneystore.com but they only had the clear ones for $5.99. Will they let you trade the clear ones?

jetskigrl - Disneystore.com has Vinylmations on sale and they are in stock this morning! They have the clear ones, and marathon ones for $5.99...perfect for trading! They also have a case of 24 park 3 ones for 138...that comes out to about 6 per vinyl...not a bad deal...

Oh happy Thursday!

I am wide open for the Mango Rum Run--that is my only official shore excursion because, let's face it, it just doesn't get any better than that! :thumbsup2 I'll go with the flow & do what works for the majority--the rest of the day we're hoping to have a little less crowded ship to explore & relax on, with my mango rum in hand! :drinking1

Do you think my boys would get into pin trading at their ages (just turned 9 & almost 6 at cruisetime)? We are going to the parks for 2-3 days before the cruise so I could get them started while we're there. I am new to all of the trading so I need to be enlightened! The vinylmations sound like fun too but I'm afraid they would be too bulky to carry around.

Is anyone else staying at the Residence Inn the night before? It sounds like the Radisson is going to be party central that night-I'm jealous! ;) We're going to try to get to the port as early as possible too so we'll just have to hook up with the 10:30 group there!

I'm so excited--we are in the homestretch! :yay:

Yes, the trading is a bunch of fun for the kids. :thumbsup2 I have one son who is really into it...the other could take it or leave it. Trading pins is huge! Both at the parks and on the ship. You can pick up trading pins on ebay and the Disney Store...you can also visit the Collectors Board here on the DIS to find out the ins and outs of trading. :surfweb: In short...there are genuine Disney pins...and then there are fake Disney pins...some that look exactly like the real ones. These are sold on ebay and found on the castmembers lanyards. Being aware of what to spot might be important to you...and might not. Some people collect just what they like regardless of it being real. If you want more information about pin trading...please ask. On the ship...the castmembers in the stores are wonderful with the kids and trading! The ship also will have pin trading nights and special limited edition pins for sale.

As far as the Vinylmations...yes...they are bigger...but we would only carry three or four with us to the parks. In each park there are only a few locations that do the trading...and the resorts have trading. Trading Vinylmations is different than the pins...each location usually has a blind box with many numbered doors. You get to guess a number and trade for what's behind that door...then you can also trade for what's in a clear box...which contains three different ones. Each location had different rules...ask before you trade...they are supposed to be consistent...but they really weren't! We had one castmember just turn the entire blind box around and show my son all the ones that they had! He got a really good trade that time! :goodvibes

I, too, think that there will definitely be a party at the port by about 10:30! :cheer2:

I have been posting a lot lately...my life must be really boring at the moment...:upsidedow...or is it that it is winter...no baseball...it's cold...nah...I really don't have an excuse...:cutie:...just the excitement of a cruise coming up! Gotta love preparing to vacation!!! :dance3:

Thanks so much for the heads up!! I just went and ordered a bunch of the marathon ones. Even if we don't trade on the ship, it will be good to always have a couple in our Disneyland backpack in case we happen to come across one that the kids want in the trading case.

My DS (7) loves both the Vinylmation and Pin trading (although he tends to enjoy the Vinylmation more).

We are missing the party at the Radisson too, LOL :( We will be at the Country Inn and Suites.

Thanks so much for the ideas. I have a feeling since this is just a 2-night cruise, it will be very casual. I will stay away from jeans and shorts (too cold for that anyway) and stick with black pants and nice shirt for me, khakis and polos for the guys and maybe dress or black pants/nice shirt for DD.

For the Mango Rum Run, someone else mentioned stopping by the Hard Rock. I would love to stop there too so maybe we can work that into the plan?
I'm perfectly fine with getting our Rum early and heading back for some drinks on deck. I have a feeling that my kids will want nothing more than to explore the kids clubs that day anyway (being the first day).

So question for you all....what do we use for mixers with our Mango Rum?
