DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

Looks like we'll have a mini gathering at CI&S on Saturday.

Yummmm, that belinni looks gooooood!

I'm going to also try for dinner. The chocolate soufle is worth it :cool1:

It was 60* here today. NICE!!!!

What is the mini gathering at CI&S on Saturday? Sorry I haven't been on in awhile.

Hey everybody. It doesn't look like a thread has been started so I will get it going. Who is excited for the Dream's first 5-nighter? I know I am. It will be my parents and I (ds 21). We have booked a cat 5c on deck 7. Can't wait for the new ship. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I am subbing since you are on the first 5 night Dream cruise. I am on one July 5 and can't wait to hear all about your cruise! Hope you are planning on doing a trip report! I am so eager for all the details! :surfweb:

Frances- I just meant several of us are staying there Saturday night. Nothing planned, but I guess we could discuss it if anyone is interested. We are planning on getting there by 4, maybe take the kids to Ron Jon & somewhere for dinner. Laid back night before the fun begins!!

Chuck-beautiful :cloud9:

I wish I had a souffle now. Much better than carrots & celery sticks.

The souffle looks good to me too. I can just eat dessert for every course. Just need to keep off the weight I have lost the past 2 months. 5lbs more to go. I want to eat without guilt...

When we cruised in October a group who were staying at the port the night before the cruise got together at Grills for dinner for a mini meet n greet. This is always an option if people are interested. I can keep a list in the roll call. Grills doesn't take reservations but I could give them a heads up.

We missed out on it since we stayed at AKV. This year we are actually flying in Friday night, couldn't find a flight out early in the day on Saturday and I am not flying late in the day, too many delays can occur. And since we got such a great rate at CI&S it didn't matter much.

Has anyone thought of posting pictures of ourselves as we get closer so we can 'recognize' eachother?? Last cruise I had posted a pic of me for something and I was sitting at a bar and some woman came up and said "Hi Denise! I know you from DIS boards!!" and it was SO nice to actually put a person (not just a face) to a name. DH (who is so not an outgoing person) thought I was nuts when I invited a total stranger to sit at a table with us for the evening!!!!! But I'm a very outgoing person (total extrovert) and can talk to anyone about anything... DH is the total opposite of me (it's a wonder we've been married for 10 years).

We don't seem to have any recent pictures of the four of us together, because most pictures we take are of the girls, taken by either myself or Pam; so I'll post two pictures to capture all of us. First is DD Allison (11), DW Pam (DCL Sweatshirt), and DD Sarah (8). The second picture is me (Eddie) with a couple friends :rolleyes1.

Well, I have decided I'm going to stop reading all the threads about the Dream. It seems every thread is negative and I just don't want to get that type of thought in my head. The good thing is, we have nothing to compare this cruise too, so I just want to wait and see for myself.

I still love looking at the pics though. I can't wait until we get a room #. We are still GTY.

One thing I keep reminding myself is that this was the first full capacity cruise for the Dream. They still have to work out all the kinks as far as service, food, etc. By the time we are on her it will definitely be better (I hope).

The one thing I am concerned about is the adult area, which seems to be lacking in a lot of areas. And unfortunately there isn't much that can be done since the ships design is complete. I guess I will see for myself in May and see how I feel about the changes. I really enjoy the adult area on the ship and I will be really disappointed if it's that noisy and they are not enforcing the no children.

I'll still read them but you're right - too much negative. Now... for me, I'm happy because of the following:
  • I'm not cooking dinner for 5 nights
  • I'm not making beds / doing laundry for 5 nights
  • I'm not home cleaning the dishes and vacuuming for 5 nights
  • I have someone serving me my meals
  • I have someplace to entertain the kids
  • I have an island oasis for 2 days
  • There are movies, showed, games, and loads of other activities to do.
  • ALCOHOL is available and only a bartender away
I don't care about the size of the pools (he'll, we've got 2 full days at the beach), the amount of wine poured in my glass, or how the towel animal is created a little too unrealistically.

This is vacation- it's my escape from the insanity of normal life and no matter what anyone else's experiences are- I'm making my own!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now....... I have some pictures of us around here somewhere..... just have to go find them on the damn computer!

Eddie you're girls are beautiful - and I mean the one's with your wife, not the two hanging on your arms!!!

I totally agree with all your points. It takes a lot to disappoint us. I must say though that I enjoy my quiet time and relaxing on the ship. I work hard and I enjoy just sitting back with a good book and a some alcohol.

Were there really complaints about the towel animals? It's amazing the things people complain about. We cruise NCL quite a bit and they stopped putting the chocolates on the pillows at night. You would have thought the world was coming to an end there was such an upheaval.

Now for some happy thoughts:

Me too, but I always manage to find a place to do so. Our last cruise my kids were joined to us at the hip and I still managed to find someplace quiet with a drink and a book. This time it may end up being the verandah. I'm also an early bird- the whole family is usually fast asleep and at 5am you'll find me on the top deck, coffee in hand, book under my arm, and camera poised and ready to catch the sunrise.

:rotfl:Not on the Dream... yet, but after our last Wonder cruise that's one of the things I remember coming out of DH's mouth....Seriously??? Go have another Bahama Mama dude and leave the negative vibes at the bar (DH is the total opposite of me - as much as he denies it I swear he's programmed to just look for the bad first, rather than just let things happen and try to enjoy life. Me?? I could have fun at a funeral.

Since everyone else is posting pics, I guess I will. And I hate to have my pic taken....:scared1:

So true!!:cool1: I'm certainly not going to find these things for me here in TN.

On a side note: OMFG we're expecting another 15-20" of snow on Tues/Wed!!!!!! :faint:

OK.... NOT my favorite picture (none with me in them really are...) but here's one of the latest of us as a family:

I don't have any pics with the 4 of us together. One of us is always holding the camera so I have 2 pics to see us.

We were on the 2 night 1/21 charity cruise. The ship is HUGE!!!!! Can't wait to be back in May. How many others are doing the b2b (5/26 and 5/29)?

Welcome Miz Diz!! I haven't figured out what I'm going to do for our FE either. This is my first time. I have most of my gifts though  Very excited about it. And I have a DS10 too! Maybe if we can get them to be friends mine would be willing to stay in the kids club a little bit so I can get some adult time
My ds is very shy, but he loves the kids club on the ship! We will definitely have to meet up so the boys can meet.
Someone asked about Priceline for the CI&S pre-cruise. We did this last year at a rate of $49 (plus $20 for shuttle/parking & taxes - total $82). But, this year I doubt we'll be able to get it because there doesn't seem to be as much availability - maybe because of the Holiday Weekend, or bigger ships?

We have two rooms booked at the CI&S for Saturday - we're driving from the Nashville, TN area.

Starting to get REALLY excited now ...
I was asking about it. That is what we paid! I guess I need to be looking for a hotel for this trip.

HEY!!! LOOK at our countdowns!!!!!!!!!!!! That means TOMORROW is LESS THAN 4 MONTHS!!! :cheer2:
:scared1: I'm excited, but I better get sewing and start some gifts.

Hi haven't been on here for awhile but am now getting more excited, I have finished my Chemotherapy and radiation, and test are showing No More Cancer!!
DH and I will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary (married same year WDW opened!!) but now I can add on celebrating Cancer Free too!!
:cheer2: Congrats!
Eddie you're girls are beautiful - and I mean the one's with your wife, not the two hanging on your arms!!!

:lmao:

Just want to introduce myself and family.

We live in Ga and I have 2 kids - dd 6, ds 10.

I'm trying to decide how to decorate my FE. I've seen some really cute ones on here.

I just need your names and cabin number to add you to the FE List. We live in GA too! We're in Lawrenceville (north metro atlanta). Welcome aboard!

Forgot to add our names:

Me- Tiffany
DH- Joe
DS10- Seth
DS13- Parker

Please also add me to the FE list. This will be my first time with the FE & it should be a blast. Time to start making a list......

Don't know if I told you, but gotcha on the list now... I need your cabin number though.
