DISNEY DREAM 4 NIGHT 1/12/14-1/16/14 DREAMin' of a vacation at sea!!!!!!!!!!!

We are getting ready to go on a non-DCL (gasp) cruise. We are going to Bermuda on the NCL Breakway. This will be the first non-Disney cruise in quite a while and the first for the kids. We've never done NCL but it looks like it has a lot to do.
The ship leaves from NYC. I haven't been there since I was a child, so we are going down a few days early to sightsee.
When we get back the kids will be heading back to school. It seems like the summer flew by.....

It really has! Our excursion booking date is in just over a month! :cheer2:

We do have a quiet group! I hope supercruiser and I didn't scare everyone away! Hoping to update FE list and roll call soon. I've been super busy earning a promotion at work and planning our September WDW trip and Aquaduck is visiting family in the Czech Republic.

What excursions are people thinking about?

Congrats on the promotion! I'm topped out.

We havent' decided on any excursions, I'm letting the DDiLs take the lead as this is their first cruise and I want them to do what they want. Mostly they are thinking of just some beach time.

So I have updated the roll call/FE/Runner lists on page one to the best of my knowledge. Please let me know if there are any mistakes or changes. I'll be happy to fix them. Since this required me to read through most of the thread, I realized I come off as a know it all tool! I swear this isn't (entirely) true!, I just like messing with Supercruiser and I know it bothers him! I swear I am a nice, fun, somewhat normal person-ask 4everluvDisney-they are even choosing to cruise with me again!

Do we have anyone who wants to organize the FE?
Any interest in a stateroom crawl?
Embarkation meet-up?
Name tags?
Door decorating contest?
Running Club?
Any other ideas?

What part of state do we represent? I bleed black and gold.
Not sure how I missed this when you posted it but my good friend in college was a Rooney. I've seen a few games from the owner's box. Aquaduck is a huge Steeler's fan.

Congrats on the promotion! I'm topped out.

Thanks and I am now currently topped out until I earn my PE, the next level requires it, which isn't really fair considering I don't have enough required experiance to attempt it yet.

The excursion I'm thinking about is Atlantis. I've been there once and I would like to go again.

Well, my little sister and brother-in-law dropped out but we gained my aunt and my older sister's boyfriend's daughter. This will be their first disney cruise! And we will be celebrating their birthdays! My aunt's is on 1/11 and Brittani's is on 1/2. Brit will be turning 18! While she will be able to enjoy the adult areas with us, I am a little worried if she will enjoy the cruise as she will only be a junior in HS and is more like a high schooler than an adult. She would have enjoyed the teen area. Does anyone have any experience with crusing with a newly 18 yo?

Start saving! That is an expense one! If we weren't diving, I would have liked to go as I have never been before. You should ask for Disney Giftcards for Christmas. Welcome back to the USA.

My heart stopped for a second when I read the first few words :scared1:

I don't have any advice about a new 18 year old, I've seen a couple around the pool but they tend to move on because it's full of us old folk and not a bunch of cute guys! :goodvibes
I did notice that the upper deck sun area had the younger crowd. Is the cutoff 17 or 18 for the Vibe? Perhaps since she JUST turned 18 they might make an exception. I've heard they are pretty strict with the ages to move up....but maybe not topping out. Never hurts to ask.

Just re-read what I wrote and yeah, that wasn't the best use of words! Sorry for making your heart stop there for a second! Another reason why I shouldn't be allowed to multi-task!

I read on the main forum that once you turn 18, you are out, even if it is half way through your cruise. Hopefully she will be able to meet other teens in the same situation, I would just feel horrible if she didn't make any friends because all of them were in the teen club. Our next youngest kid is 10 and they won't want to leave the club/lab. It just seems like such a weird age, esp. since she is still only a junior in school.

Thanks for the advice though.

Has anyone volunteered for the FE? If not, I can do it, but fair warning... I have NEVER done so before!

But since I have three cabins to worry about this time, I would like to get started!!!

We are doing the same. We found out it was a lot cheaper to buy the room instead of buying the tickets separately

Greetings Everyone!

We just stepped off a 3 night Dream Cruise and booked one this cruise while we were on board. Just the two of us, Bill and I (Carrie). Looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of you and your DIS tips.

Please tell me more about booking the Comfort Suites in Nassau. So you get access to the beaches and water slides at Atlantis by doing so?

Hi Carrie, welcome!

Yes, a room at the comfort suites gets you full access to the Atlantis.
You have to take a taxi to the comfort suites and check in there. I've never gotten a key or seen a room, they just give you a recepit that you take to the Atlantis. It is right next door and an easy walk. At the Atlantis, you exchange the recepit for a wrist band. From then on you can go anywhere.
We have 4 people so the cost savings is worth the extra hassle.

Tell us a little bit about yourselves! I see you are from Virginia as I am....
I'm getting ready to set up the FE, unless someone else really wants to do it....truly, you won't hurt my feelings....
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Thank you very much for the Comfort Suites info! I will definitely check that out!

So we are from Richmond. We will be attending the FUN show prior to the cruise. Any other numismatists on board????? We are DVC members and traditionally use our points for cruises. Its worked out well for us that way.

Speaking of DVC - I just found out so any other DVC members if you didn't know ---- while on board we booked this cruise and paid cash, but were told that if you call DVC within 7 days of the booking - you can convert the cruise to points and save up to 10% as well.

Im still new to DVC (since 09).....any other members with tips/tricks of the trade?

Looking forward to getting to know you all! Enjoy a safe and fun holiday weekend!

We are DVC as well, but always book cruises with cash because we use our points for WDW....and never have enough! We have been DVC members since 2006, coincidently the year our oldest grandchild was born...before that DH wouldn't have anything to do with it, would not even listen.....say grandbaby and trips....there ya go!
We are taking all 4 of the grandkids on their first Disney cruise on this cruise (and their parents too because we are not certifiable :lmao: ..at the time of the cruise the kids will be 7,4,3 and 1.5. Parents are a necessity!!

OK, everyone, I've been gettin a lot of one-off sign ups for FE, so time to get serious and do this in an orderly fashion otherwise someone will get forgot or something. SO!

First off, I was thinking about size and not wanting to overwhelm everyone, what do y'all think of limiting it to 25 and if more sign up, we divide and conquer? So for instance we hit 26, we divide into two groups of 13 and start growing again. sound good?
To be honest my last group was over 50 stateroom and really made it more of a chore than fun.

Second, we need to decide a cut off date. We are sailing shortly after the holidays which can be a very busy time. I know for me it is at work as well as home as there are only two of us who do my job and the other one takes off from the day after Christmas until the end of the week of New years. She comes back the day I start leave.

So everyone interested in FE should PM me here OR on facebook with the following information.

Stateroom number

Names/ages/sex of everyone in the stateroom. (adults can just say adult)
The sex is important as our last cruise a little Cameron got lots of boy things but she was a 5 year old little princess who didn't understand.
Any allergies. some people like to do candy for movies or something like that.

Email addresses...so I can send you the spread sheet.

Anything else? I think leaving delivery times/dates up to the individual is better, especially on a short cruise!

said hi on FB but :wave2:again.

didn't know that re using DVC points, alas we are raided frequently by our spawn and always short on points lol. Do you know if you would retain any OBC if converting to points?

we tend to book CS in Nassau when crusing there. Found the military rate to come in very handy this booking!

Va-Na-Tink will pm u, thanks for taking on the responsibility.

Oooohhh....good question! I'm not sure about the OBC if you convert to points. I forgot to ask.
