Disney Dream 4-6-2014

Mayomamma - I did the same thing adding a second room for my wife's sister and her family.

HouseofKards - That is up to the group. Think we are at 13 right know. Do we want cap it at 15 ? Any suggestions from anyone ? How have others done it in the past ?

Hi,
Question - Is 13 the number of cabins or passengers?

On our last cruise, the FE group was divided into three smaller mini-groups. This would allow families to participate without a huge finanical burden.
The mini-groups were called Huey, Dewey and Louie.

Each mini-group had approximately 17 cabins with about 35 adults and 26 children.

After the cut-off date, a fourth list was kept called "Us too" so the last minute FE could participate among themselves. Some cabins wanted to participate in all of the small groups. Some large families with more than one cabin wanted to be separated into a different mini-group so they can participate with more cabins.

To me, that's a lot! On our last cruise, we had 8 or 9 cabins with probably half the number of adults and kids that Madeline had in her mini-group. Now, we gave EACH FAMILY MEMBER a gift in that FE, which is why we provided the age of the kids in the cabins. For example, we gave adult men a pirate's eye patch and small bottle of rum. Adult women got an eye patch, a dog tag necklace with a skull and crossbones on it and a bracelet. Kids got an eye patch, tattoos, boys - rubber bracelet, girls - dog tag necklace, and toy gold coins.

If this FE intends to give one gift per cabin, then 17 is ok. But, if it's one gift per person in the cabin, I think this number is too high to keep it economical. I sort of like the individual gifts so that everyone gets to retrieve something from their pocket on the actual Fish Extender.

Hi all,

My husband and I are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in April. We renewed our vows at our 10 year in Las Vegas (drive thru chapel!) and thought it would be fun to renew them again underwater/while snorkeling at Castaway Cay. Disney charges a minimum of $2500 for any kind of wedding celebration/vow renewal ceremony. Not gonna happen. So, I'm wondering if any of our fellow cruisers has been ordained on the Internet or anything to perform weddings. We're not looking for this to be legal or anything, but think it will be a fun way to celebrate and that our 9 1/2 daughter will get a kick out of being a part of it.

Let me know if you have the credentials and would be up for helping us out!

I agree with Jen. For those of you that have never participated in FE before, let me tell you, the ship is BIG and it takes time to get around to all of the rooms. The last time I did it there were 12 cabins, I had to split it up into 3 trips because I didn't want to deliver gifts for 3 hours straight. Factor in getting lost (I did several times) and there goes the evening! I strongly suggest you split the FE into groups once the final number is established.

We currently at 13 cabins in the FE exchange. On the last cruise I was on it was up to the each cabin if they giving one gift for cabin or mixed type gift. We also set up a cut off date for the FE exchange so able to make sure you had it all ready. We used 50 day cutoff date. How about we see how many we have by then and can split up to two groups if we need too.

That sounds good to me.

Do we need to specify anywhere if we decide to do individual gifts or one gift for each cabin?

If we need to split up feel free to divide my group (4 MayoMomma Cabins) into 2 groups. We are flexible and just very excited about all of it - figure we'll be assigned to give out gifts 4 days anyway since we have 4 cabins.

- Being that this is the first time my family/group has participated, I don't know the answer to this question. Perhaps someone who has done FE before can give more details as to how it worked for them in the past?

Not sure what you mean by "assigned to give out gifts 4 days...". You only deliver one gift per person or cabin one time on the day of your choice. We waited until the Pirate Day to deliver our pirate-themed gifts to each person in our FE.

I wouldn't think you need to specify, but then again, our FE did a gift per person, so it was a little different. I'd say if there are over 50 people in the group, we'll be doing cabin gifts.

The last two times I done the FE it was up to the individual decided if giving one gift or multiple. It really depends on the gifts. Last time some people gave gifts the entire family could enjoy (such has magnets, bags) other gave gifts kids would enjoy most (coloring stuff, sand toys or candy) and others did a mix. Some people made the gifts others purchased them. Really depends on your budget. Don't want to to become a burden for anyone. :cool1: Its so cool coming back to the cabin and having the FE full of stuff.....

We're getting so excited about the cruise and participating in the FE exchange. What days do FE Exchanges happen (first 4 days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or just the 3 middle days...)? Any further details any of you experienced cruisers have to share would be awesome! Thanks everyone!

I just wanted to say hello to everyone we will be cruising with in April. We too are from GA, so this must be our Georgia spring break cruise! This time around we will be three Grammy Kathy, myself (Anne), and Brendon the grandson (11). We love Disney and this is our second cruise on the Dream. We won't be participating in the FE since Bren is a little older and I have special treats in mind for him to do in our own bag, but wanted to share a fact that there is a FE Facebook page. I am sure there are lots of great ideas there as well as on Pinterest.
Happy Sailing! :wave2:

Online check-in complete with a 10:30 am PAT. Excursion and Palo Brunch booked! Can't wait! The countdown is on!
