Disney Dream- 3-10-2011 (3 night)

Hi!

Thread meet
I did post a question on the Dream trip report to see if there is a place that we could all meet before we sailed away. I have not seen an answer yet. I do have a DGF who sails two weeks before us, maybe she will have an answer.

Group Identifier
I did see that Wadiwo (? spelling) posted a question if we should wear something so that we can find each other. Does anyone have any ideas of something easy and cheap to make? I thought I either read or heard that there is a color for dis board members. Does anyone know what it is? I was thinking that maybe we could do a ribbon pin. Something small like the awareness ribbons. If there isn't a color we could just pick a color.

Group name
Should we come up with a name to call our thread meet?

Group Picture
Do you think it would be possible to do a group picture somewhere on the ship? Wouldn't that be fun?

That would be great. On the Magic and Wonder DIS meets were usually held in the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3, just before you get to Parrot Cay. However, have no idea if the Dream will have a similar place on Deck 3.

The color for the DIS was always lime green. Check your Home Depot Store paint department and look for the Disney paint samples. You'll find lime green Mickey heads there (providing they still carry them). Cut it out and velcro to your shirt, jacket, or carry-on. Easy and inexpensive. Certainly any green ribbon (if you can't find lime) would be easy and effective also. DISers always used lime green to identify each other at WDW although you don't hear so much about it these days.

I have a lime green Mickey head luggage tag which I'll switch and put on my carry-on bag for embarkation.

Nice idea, Never. I'll start off with "Dream Cruisers 3/10". Let's hear some other suggestions out there!

Works for me and it certainly would be fun. Again, never having been on the Dream I have no idea just where. Group pictures I've been a part of in the past were usually taken in the Promenade Lounge during the DIS meet. Would be great if your friend could scout a good place for this and the DIS meet and greet.

Otimon I like your idea of the Mickey Head paint samples. I know that our Home Depot still has them. If the group decides we want to do this maybe we can all pick up a few extra for those who do not have a home depot close to them. Just curious, any idea why the color is lime green?

Hope we hear some more ideas for our group name and identifier. Just 53 days til we meet.

Hi! We currently have 17 families (49 people) participating in the FE. Should we break this into 2 groups? There is still 15 days left until we hit the deadline for people to sign up.

Just got done reading a trip report on the Dream. Unfortunately there is no promenade lounge/deck on the Dream. Sigh...The person writing did say that there is a coffee bar lounge on either Deck 4 or 5 that may work for a meet. They stated that on the preview cruise the sail away party was at 4:30 and that the best place to see it and the pirate party was deck 12.

Thanks
Annette :)

Never: I don't think we should break it into two groups. There have been FE cruises where there have been 60 staterooms that are participating and that's when it gets too large. We have already started a project and plan on doing the FE for the 17+ staterooms.

Hey there - I have made a little "badge" with a couple lime green mickeyheads and I write my DIS name on it and laminate it. I have it on a carbiner hook that can go on my bag or lanyard. I'll probably have that on me most of the time. I would be okay with a meet somewhere too. I'll be reading all the reports on the Dream between now and then for sure!!!

I know on our last cruise the FE group was probably around 12 and it was quite manageable. I think if we get to 20, maybe we should split it up to 10 a piece.

We have some ideas (mostly stolen from our last cruise mates FE gifts!) for FE gifts too!! I'm getting started on them. Plus I have got to make my FE!!! It's going to be hard to do it without the kids seeing it! Late nights ahead!!!

We had previously discussed breaking into groups if the numbers get high. I would like to hear how some other people feel. We are currently at 18 families and still have 15 days left for more people to sign up.

Thats a great idea to use a carbiner hook and lanyard. I would like to hear more people's thoughts on the number for the FE. I think that 10 in a group would be quite manageable on a 3 night cruise.

We have already started tonight on our FE gifts!
We're so excited about this. :goodvibes

FE Question -- Is it common to leave a message with the gift of who the FE gift is from? (Ex: From Nick, Cordelia & Becky in #9016) We are currently working on the FE for all 18 staterooms and want to know. Thanks!

That's a good question. I have never done this before so I have no idea how exactly it works. I've read a lot about it.

We never have, and most people that left us gifts didn't either. In 3 cruises I remember 2 people that did. It's really up to you.

On my past cruises, we recognized each other for the meet by posting pictures on the thread before the cruise. Just a thought.

Have no idea why lime green was the color for the DIS. Perhaps because it tends to stand out from others.

If our cruise gang wants another color that would work just as well as long as everyone knew the color.
