Can you believe, one embarassing this that we're kinda nervous about ... is sitting with others for dinner!! Don't get me wrong, we're sociable and friendly and all that, but since we're first time cruisers ... how is that experience, sitting with strangers for a meal ? (last time we did it was at the buffet at the Biergarten in Germany, Epcot).

hmm ... maybe we'll get to sit with friendly folk like you all!

Wadiwo - I have been thinking about this a bit lately too! In our past cruises, we have been with extended family, so that's with whom we have been seated. So this time, it's just us four, so who knows?? I promise to be friendly to whomever it is! I hope we all get lucky!

You all should check out this thread. These people were on the cast member preview cruise on the Dream!! Lots of great pictures and info! It got me even MORE excited!!! Two months from tonight we're hitting the road!!

Jules/saratogagirl - welcome! Some ideas for FE gifts - little trinkets, candy, anything Disney, we gave ornaments from our home state last year (it was Dec.), we received pencils, puzzles, card games, magnets, CDs, candy, tote bags, hair accessories, can coolers, little bottles of booze.... Really anything goes!!

Welcome aboard! I bet if you polled every cruiser who doesn't sail with a large family or other people they know, they would share your feelings of nervousness. I know that I do. Then I remind myself that I love meeting people from different places all over the world. Just remember that everyone on the ship is going to have a common interest in Disney or they would be on some other ship. Let me know if you decide that you want to participate in the FE.

Can only give you my experience although you'll find threads here on just that subject.

On past cruises we have had pleasant tablemates as well as those who barely said a word during dinner. It is just the luck of the draw! Certainly if you feel uncomfortable dining with folks like that all you have to do is ask to be seated elsewhere and they will do their best to accommodate you the rest of the cruise.

When you get on board, check into being seated with other folks you've been talking with here. You can also request to be seated with just your own family and they will try to accommodate you there as well.

When we made our reservations for this cruise last October, I was asked right away if we would like to have a 4-top for our family (there's 3 of us) or be seated with another family. My husband requested the 4-top so I guess that's how we'll be seated.

Unlike the rotation restaurants, all tables at Palo will be for individual family seating. They will have a special room with seating for larger families or groups upon request - like they do on the Wonder and Magic. Remy should be the same.

Only 57 days left. Keep well and have a safe journey to the port.

This will be my fourth cruise, and in all of the past ones we have been seated with other people at dinner. Although I never meet a stranger, I was a little nervous about eating dinner with people that I didn't know. The first cruise it was me, my mom and my 3 year old daughter. We were seated with a couple and their small daughter, so it worked out perfectly. They weren't huge talkers, but still very nice. My second cruise was just me and my friend. Our first night we were at Palo, so we missed our tablemates. The second night and third nights they didn't show up (apparently they were newlyweds, so they were probably off to Palo, etc), so we ultimately had our own table. The last cruise was me, my daughter and her godfather, and we sat with a couple that had a little girl. This was an awesome match. The wife was super friendly and the girls hit it off!

Now I know that I will most likely sit with others and honestly look forward to meeting some new people!

I am always nervous about meeting new people at dinner, on our first cruise we ended up with a table for just the two of us, and on all other cruises, we have been so lucky with our tablemates. On one of our cruises I joined a thread just like this and we ended up contacting DCL and linking our ressies so we could sit together at dinner, there were 12 of us I think, and it was great fun ..
