My partner and I are taking our DD(22) on the Dream in Feb. it is the first cruise for all of us. We are looking other Special needs adults on this cruise. And does anyone have any experiences with Disney and there special needs children?

:welcome: to the DISboards!

You might try your cruise meet thread to see who else is cruising at that time: http://www.disboards.com/threads/disney-dream-2-22-16-experiment-2-22.3424161/

The kids' clubs onboard are very strict with the top age for participating. However, you can take her during any "Open House" times scheduled. Each space (Club, Lab, Edge and Vibe) typically has at least one hour per day scheduled at Open House; there may or may not be organized activities occuring during this time, if so anyone is welcome to join.

Since your DD is 22 she is welcome to use any of the "adult only" spaces or activities as interests her and you feel it's appropriate -- that includes the spa, fitness room, adult pool/hot tub areas, Cove Cafe, adult dining, nightclubs and any activities on the Navigator listed for adults. Of course, you are all welcome to participate in any activities listed as "all ages." Did you have specific questions about port excursions or certain onboard activities?

Enjoy your cruise!

I once read of a family whose over-21 child had cerebral palsy, and they feared her messy eating (my words, not theirs - I apologize) would bother others at Palo. They asked and were allowed to be served Palo dinner in their room...

We have 2 special needs daughters - 25 and 11. Both have cruised with us. Honestly taking DD25 can be a challenge because while she is physically 25, mentally she is around 10-11. Utilize the open house hours in the kids clubs - this was a huge hit for her. We do take her to Palo brunch with us and sometimes dinner. The most difficult challenge we encounter is getting her wheelchair down the halls when housekeeping is out in full force. They are always quick to come and move their carts but it can add time.

She's been on DCL 4 times - next coming up next month. If you have any specific questions I can help with - shoot.
