Disney Dream 12/29/2011

Did anyone see it? I've watched several video clips from AOL travel and saw the one with the float out.

Hi everyone. I'm back on track to get excited about this cruise.

I had to cancel two cruises this year - WBTA and Thanksgiving. I've been in mourning ;) the past few months.

I'm looking forward to this cruise and to the double dip. Not so much looking forward to Nausau but I don't get off at many ports anyway besides CC.

Do we have a name? A FE list? A secure FB page? I'm ready to start planning! I've read through a bunch of the recent posts and see that there are a bunch of teens. I told DD16 about it and she just shrugged. Then I asked if I helped her make awesome friends last NYE and she just smiled and said "absolutely". For all of the times they tease me, she really found a great group of kids to hang with. I look forward to the same thing this time!

Popping in to say hello!

Not at planning stage yet here although I do know what my FE gift is going to be! I received one on our last cruise and love it.

Anyway, I don't know if anyone has started a FE list and a roll call yet. If someone has, let us know. If someone hasn't, I'll get that started and post later this month. I did start a roll call early on so I probably have most of the stuff saved around here somewhere.

I'm not good at FB, so I'll let someone else handle that if someone else can.

Have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day!

Linda

Hello folks! Hope everyone had a nice holiday.

Time to start planning.

Who will be at WDW prior to the cruise? Does anyone want to have a meet then? We are looking at going down for several days to just hang at SSR and visit the resorts and DD.

I will be. I may either come Christmas evening or the day after. Planning on staying at BLT.

I'm gonna get there as early as I can! I am hoping at least 1/2 of us will get there around the 15th or 16th. DD will have basketball and DH may have to work but I am planning on all of us spending Christmas at our vacation home there for the 1st time in 2011.

I'm up for a meet. I'd prefer DD or one of the resorts as opposed to the parks if we are taking a poll. Maybe a brunch, lunch or dinner? Suggestions? I don't know that we are going to do any or many days at the parks. It gets so crowded during the holidays at the parks.

Everyone have a fantastic New Years Celebration! This time next year, we'll all be celebrating together :dance3:

Linda

Hey Linda!!!
We will be there a day early for sure. We don't like arriving the day the ship leaves. Have to plan our cruise that is in May first....
good thing I'm retired now...more time to plan.
Tell Mike we said HI! My DH hasn't seen him in Georgetown since I met him there...guess that was a Disney fluke.

Happy New Year .... everyone
Can you believe it, this time next year we will all be cruising on the Dream...:thumbsup2

A year from now we'll be waking after our Dreamy New Year party! Looking forward to sharing the evening with Denise, Jimmy, and Eleni, and of course all our shipmates!

It seems all of the inside staterooms for our cruise dates are sold out. The Magical Portholes are very popular - luckily we have two insides!

Soon to start planning. We'll be there early also. Planning to hit Wizarding World of HP at IoA, not sure if we'll do any others.

so excited cause my phone counter is now under 365 (it started over 800) cant wait but good things come to those who do right ???:cool1::rolleyes1

We are going to be joining this group on the First ever New Year's Eve on the Dream. Our group includes:

Me, DH, and DD (18) at sailing.

We are on the inaugural cruise in a few weeks so I will be able to give feedback for what is there. Can't wait to see this thread grow.

Can't wait to see you and the family again...

Hi Everybody:wave2:

I have put together somewhat of a rollcall. There are bound to be some errors, so please review and let me know what needs to be added, omitted, corrected. Feel free to share as much or as little information as you like. It is post #3 on page 1 of this thread.

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=34376542&postcount=3

Rollcall
FE signup list - and an explanation of what a FE is.
Early arrivals for possible meetup pre-cruise

There is also a link for the Kids/Teen Board.

Would someone like to do a logo? A facebook page?

Feel free to PM me or post here any changes or fish extender sign ups.

Thank you!
Linda

Linda,
Great job!!!
Our listing needs a couple of corrections:
Remove Georgetown and put "Sacramento area". We only worked in Georgetown.

List our daughter as age 21.

We have early seating for dinner. 9pm show (it got changed as we are now table mates with "Dad of lost boys" and family!

stateroom# 10550

Haven't decided about FE yet. Our last cruise our FE was attacked and fruit was smashed inside and items were stolen. Have to think about it long and hard.

Ttyl,

Done:thumbsup2

Do rethink the FE. I did read about your experience (nightmare :scared1:) with your first FE and I don't blame your reluctance. But I do feel that those kind of instances are few and far between :flower3:

Hi everybody! Long time, no talk! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!

We just got back from the Christmas cruise and it was GREAT....but extremely cold and windy.:sad1: We spent 4 days at WDW prior to the cruise and it was in the 40's and 50's. We went to the MVMCP for the first time and thought it was great but we were dressed in winter clothes...coats, hats, scarves, mittens, etc...Then it was unusually cold on the cruise as well and the majority of people stayed indoors. But, the cruise itself for Christmas was excellent, as always!:santa:

We are now getting in the New Year's on the Dream mode and can't wait!! We were talking about THIS cruise quite a bit while sailing at Christmas hahaha

This was out 3rd western itinerary and we are ready for a change!! We changed our reservations while on board to get the onboard credit discounts and upgraded our rooms YAY:cool1:

We now are in staterooms #5034 and #5036 and have main seat dining

We are thinking of going to universal studios before the cruise this time instead of WDW because our older two seemed to be bored at WDW and are ready for a change. I think they have simply outgrown WDW so we will try universal for the first time in 20 years hahaha

As far as the FE gift exchange goes, we will probably pass. We took part in the Christmas cruise of 2008 and it absolutely overwhelmed us. We did so many different activities with our DIS group that it took away from "family time" and occupied a lot of our time so we didn't participate in any activities this past cruise and noticed a big difference. We would love to participate in maybe one activity only to keep in the New Year's spirit but not feel overwhelmed hahahaha

Hi Shannon,

Great job on the rebooking! Getting the discounts are a great perk for rebooking onboard. I did it my last cruise also. Utilized the coupon they gave us for friends and family too!

I know about the cold climate sometimes in Florida. We were there in 2008 and it was so cold at the parks, everywhere really. I know that recently there were freezing temps at times over the winter break. I read that the Wonder couldn't even make her stop on Castaway Cay this past week due to weather.

All the festivities that a Dis group can organize can be overwhelming, and I don't think there will be many for this cruise, but only plan on those things you feel you can comfortably do.

Thanks for letting me know about the FE...I took you off the list. If you change your mind, let me know. Hopefully, we can get something going. A large list can be overwhelming, but I don't think we will be getting a large list this group :)

Thanks for the update and I'd like to hear more about you last cruise over Christmas! What ports? What did you do? Special menus?

Linda

The menu was great for Christmas Day!! If you are a seafood fan, then this meal was for you! Hahahaha It had lobster tail, Alaskan king crab, etc...

There were lots of Christmas activities like gingerbread house making, hot chocolate and Christmas cookies every night, and Christmas caroling.

I am not sure what kind of festivities they will have for New Year's, but I am sure they will be just as great!

Shannon
