Disney Dream 12/29/2011

Hi everybody! I am glad to see some "chatting" going on!;) I was commenting to DD17 that this group is more talkative than our upcoming Christmas cruise of 2010. And this cruise is 16 months away Hahahahaha!!!!:lmao:

This will be our 4th Disney cruise and so far, so good with the FE's. I was super surprised that nothing was stolen or destroyed on our Christmas cruise of 2008 because we had EVERYTHING on our two doors: Light up wreaths, jingle bells, magnets and stockings! I guess it was the Christmas spirit that kept people nice and respectful!:santa: I am hoping for the same kindness this Christmas.

My older two, who will be 18 and 15 at the time of sailing, don't get excited about FE's anymore but our little one who will be 7 at the time, just LOVES the FE gifts!!

I hope everyone is having a great summer!! Is everyone ready for back to school? I am not looking forward to it at all!:sad1: It's still in the upper 90's to low 100's every day here in the south of Texas!:scared1:

Hi Shannon,

We didn't have any problems with our FE either. Our oldest daughter at home is 14 and she gets just as excited about the FE's as the 9 years old. Ok, I'll admit that I get excited about the FE's too!

Summer has gone by in a flash. Our girls went back to school this week:scared1: or :woohoo: , I don't know how I really feel about it. One is in 4th grade, the other is a freshman.

I'm sure we'll get a bit more talkative as the dates nears.

Linda

Linda our twins are currently 15 months, but a little on the small side due to being preemies (2 and 3 lbs at birth). They had a really rough start for the first few months of their lives, but they've been with us now for several months as foster adopt (1 for 6 months & 1 for 3 months - long story as to why we couldn't get them into our home at the same time, but that's how foster stuff sometimes works). Looking forward to this cruise, even if it IS over a year away.

Boo hoo...we decided to cancel this cruise. We got a great deal on the KSF 10 day to the MR so went for that instead as it was too good to pass up.

Have fun celebrating New Year's on the Dream next year -- I'll be thinking about all of you! :)

Hi Beth,

I don't know what the KSF 10 day to MR is :confused3 Let me know as I am curious.

We all have to do what we have to do and everyone respects that. I know you will have a good time where ever you are...and 10 days of cruising does sound great! A deal to good to pass up is grand!!! You will have fun.

I'll meet you in October on the Magic.

Hi Linda, Can't wait for October .... It will be fun meeting you! The 10 day Mexican Riviera starts on April 17th and goes to Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo and Manzanillo plus several sea days. DCL offered ksf for a very limited time-- I' saving almost $1700 with the twins going for free. We've got a cat 5 for under $5000 for 10 days of cruising !!! :)

That does sound like a fantastic deal. I can't take the kids out of school for 4 weeks in the same school year though...or can I? :rotfl: No, I won't do that to them.

We'll see in October and you have a fantastic time on your Mexican Riviera cruise.

Linda

Hi everyone!!! I hope everyone is getting into the "back to school" mode! One of the nurses has been going around the unit singing "it's the most wonderful time of the year":lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: She CAN'T WAIT to send her kids back to school!!! I, on the other hand, LOVE having my kids home and I am not looking forward to school starting on Monday AT ALL.:sad1:

It is still in the upper 90's to low 100's here in the south of Texas and I have to admit, I am looking forward to fall and it cooling off just a little bit.

I think I am going to decorate our staterooms in a "New Year's" kind of way....I am tossing around ideas in my head now. I am super excited because this will be our first Disney New Year's and our second double dip DCL cruise!!!

Everyone have a great weekend!! We have meet-the-teacher-night tonight for DD6:cutie:

:goodvibes I just booked this cruise for me, DH and our DD! My DH is military and he is deployed to Afghanistan this year, so he'll be gone for the holidays. But he'll be home in 2011 for Christmas and New Years! :santa: W00T!
This will be our first Disney cruise. I can't wait:thumbsup2
DD will be 9 at the time of this cruise. I hope she'll make a bunch of new friends while we're on the ship :goodvibes

Welcome aboard! I know all about the military bit...my hubby is retired military and I have 2 daughters that were marines, a son-in-law returned from Afghanistan, and 2 nephews that are enlisted....whew...

Maybe we will start a kids thread for the kids. I have a DD that will be 11 at cruise time, but barely. Her DOB is 12/12/00.

You will have an awesome time on your first cruise and then you will be hooked!

Looking forward to chatting.

Linda

Hi everyone!! Well........We did it! We officially booked this cruise! We had intended to book it while on our Christmas cruise this December to get the discounts, but I got nervous about it filling up and we decided better to be safe than sorry and put our deposit down. The biggest selling point was the two stops at Castaway Cay, of course! We had a double dip on our Christmas cruise of 2008 and absolutely loved it!!!:santa:

This will be our 4th Disney cruise combined with WDW trip since 2007 and probably our last. DD18(at time of cruise) has already informed us that this will be her last Disney trip and DH wants to start trying different vacations. We have always done Disney as a family vacation since the late 80's and it's time to venture on to different things. So this cruise/WDW trip will have to be THE BEST so that we go out with a bang!! Hahahahaha:lmao:

I can't wait to experience DCL/WDW at New Year's! I bet it is going to be beautiful...Disney style!

School is in full swing here in the south of Texas and still reaching 100 degrees each day..poor kids:sad1: I hope everyone is getting back in to school routine!

Shannon

Hi adnil530 and ShannonR!

This cruise still seems so long away!! But I'm sure it'll be here before we know it :goodvibes

I'm sure that since this will be our first Disney cruise we will get addicted and have to keep coming back year after year! :rotfl:

Linda- it's nice to know I'm not the only military spouse that'll be on the deck ;)

Shannon - That sounds like some hot weather!

I look forward to chatting with everyone in the months ahead :goodvibes

Hi Shannon -- my DD will also be 18 at the time of this cruise. Her birthday is just 2 weeks prior to sailing. Maybe we can get the girls talking?

Anyone else with 18 year olds (or thereabouts) on this cruise?

I am normally a pretty 'with it' person but I only realized LAST WEEK that this cruise has two stops at Castaway Cay; I was so excited to be sailing for New Year's Eve that I didn't even give the itinerary a thought, LOL.

Hi Laura!! I noticed that you are sailing this year in December too....any chance it's the Christmas Cruise? We will be on that cruise as well:santa:

Morgan is 17 y.o. now and will turn 18 y.o. in June of 2011. She would absolutely love to start talking to daughter (it's her specialty:lmao:), so let me know what you think would be the best way to get the girls chatting would be!!

Morgan is going with her best friend tonight to their 2nd Jonas Brother's concert! She is super excited and can't wait!

I hope everyone is well in to the swing of a new school year....Morgan is a senior this year so we will be busy, busy, busy!!

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

We're actually going in early January so, no, not the Christmas cruise.

Keighley will be 17 in December so it seems the girls are just 6 months apart. Either PM or email me (cmclaura@aol.com) and we'll exchange the girls' info.

Jonas Brothers, huh? Keighley will like that.

Hi Laura!! I just sent you an e-mail that has both mine and Morgan's info on it. She will be excited to start talking to another girl her age that she can hang out with on the cruise!! She is at the Jonas Brother's concert as we speak...her second one...ugh:sad2:

I just made our deposit on this cruise tonight!! I am so excited! Both of my kids have December birthdays. This year, we decided to go to Disney (and one day to Harry Potter at Universal) in lieu of parties and all the hub-bub. So, I thought that this cruise was the perfect answer for next year's December dilemma. :) It'll be our 3rd DCL! Can't wait! Oh, and we booked 11B GTY.

Calculating ages...on 12/29/11, we will be 36 (ugh), 12 (double ugh) and 11 (triple ugh)!! When did we get so old??? LOL

Welcome aboard! My dd is 9 now and will be 11 when we sail. Her birthday is 12/12/2000! When is your daughter's?

We booked an inside stateroom also. Our first time, but we got 2 rooms for the 4 of us. My sister is on this trip also. She is across the hall.

Hi, Linda!

My daughter is 9 now too. Her birthday is 12/25/00. Yep, Christmas Day! :) So, the girls will be the exact same age!

My son's bday is 12/7/99, so he'll turn 12 that same month.

I'm gonna keep stalking to see if I can grab an 11C GTY, but for now I'll take the 11B GTY. Hoping someone joins us on the cruise, but if not, we'll still have a blast. We stayed in a Cat 11 on the Wonder for a 3 day in 2009, just the 3 of us. In 2010, we were upgraded from Cat 12 to a Cat 9 when my mom sailed with us on a 4 day Wonder.

Excited to start planning! We've previously done the Sea Lion Encounter and Atlantis Aquaventure on the Nassau stops. Not sure what we'll do this time. We're thinking of trying parasailing at CC. I need to re-read, but seems like you might have to be 90 pounds to do it. I imagine neither of mine will be 90 yet since they are currently about 65 and 60 pounds each, but maybe that was minimum to ride alone?

What were you guys thinking about doing?
