Disney dream - 01-30-11

Still contemplating what to take for clothing...never went on a cruise this time of year. Any suggestions? :confused3

I have never cruised in Jan. before BUT While talking to a few local people in Nassau, they told me that Jan is the coldest month. First of Feb. is also cool.

We sailed to the Bahamas for tHanksgiving 2010 and had perfect (normal Bahamas weather). Then we sailed Dec. 12, 2010 and we FROZE! I have never been so cold on a cruise before! WE have sailed the 1st week or 2 of Dec. in past years and always had good (warm, normal) weather.
We were told is was unsual for it to be so cold that ealry.

So my reply to what to pack, pack some warm stuff also. After not being prepared (clothing wise) for our Dec. cruise, I am sure I will overpack for this cruise.

Any of my fellow TAs staying at All star movies?

I am staying at All-Star Movies! I will be there early as I am flying in Friday night.

I went on the Wonder last year from January 27-31, 2010 and we had beautiful weather! It was 75-80 each day, so I am hoping for the same this year.

Of course, when we left home it was, 15 degrees so we were in heaven going to 70 degree temperatures! Heck two weeks ago, it went up to 50 degrees and I was walking around in just a sweatshirt, so I guess warmth/cold is pretty relative to where you live! LOL!

I just checked and it is 65 @ Castaway. Not beach weather but warmer than the 20 degrees and snow, I am looking at right now!

I can tell you one thing. We cruised in January one other time. We weren't prepared for the cold. We actually got off the ship at CC in sweats!! It was that cold. With the weather the way it is this year I think we will be packing jeans and a sweatshirt for a safety net. Only one sweatshirt though. I have to have an excuse for a souvenir or two.:lmao::rotfl2:

I've sailed twice in Jan before -once it was beautiful, once it was cold! So you never know. Can't wait until weather reports for the area come out a few days before so I know what to pack!

!

Yeah! We should meet sometime on Sat. I plan to go early also.
It only takes me an hour to drive there.

I are SO right on you never know this time of year what the weather will be.
Yesterday we went to Universal. Carried light jackets but took them off at 10am. We were comfy in jeans and tshirts (that is until we got wet)
It did get cool here overnight. High today of 53. Thats COLD for me. And a 20 degree difference compared to yesterday's high. We are going to be COLD tonight! 23!!! Thats a BIG WOW for us!

At least {right now} it is going in the right direction! :lmao:

Thanks...For me, when most people are freezing I am comfy in shorts and a tshirt, but I will bring a sweatshirt or two :)

I am at All Star Movies also, but I am thinking we all are. Looking forward to where they are feeding us in Epcot, and especially looking forward to the desert Illuminations party!:cake::drinking1

Here is my DD and nieces on CC during early January cruise in 2003....

It was better than the 9 degrees back in NY at that time!!! LOL!!!

MJ, those pictures make me cold just looking at them. Brrrrr. Memories of our trip come flashing by, also. LOL

Beautiful girls by the way.

Me too!
I am also wondering what "experimental training" means.:confused3.. my kids have came up with some ideas :wizard:...LOL (remember they are upset they cant go.)

mmouse37, I can see the chill bumps on the girls!!!
thats the way we looked back in Dec.
I had booked rooms over at Atlantis for full access.
3 of the 4 kids actually swam and just had to do the NOT so lazy river.
I stepped a toe in the water and got right back out!

it's actually "exponential training". It's a method of training that builds quickly (like an exponent in math) on each topic. This will be my first experience with it...

it's actually "exponential training"....

That is SO funny! It is experiential training! NOT experimental :lmao:
I opened the attachment and 5 of us read it.
Then we all proceeded to take guesses about the "experimental training"....
I homeschool....maybe we need to brush up on reading comprehension & spelling.:rotfl:

snow day # 2 for us..we got almost 2 feet of snow!!
I dont care if I need a hoodie or jeans on CC, so long as i dont need snowboots:goodvibes

thank you to our superintendent who knew I needed more time to work on things for my honeymoon

:rotfl2: God, note to self, just SHUT UP at 1:17 am! :rotfl2:

Yep, Experential..Had to look that one up...:lmao:

Just goes to show you, while we are looking forward to the "training" it's the venue I think we are more interested in!! :lmao:

Actually, I think I like "experimental" better! ;)

lets keep our 1 and 2am conversation to ourself!
Unless we find a prankster who would chime up during a session and say, "excuse me, when are we doing the experimental training?"

COLD here in FL, BUT NO snow.
Check this out!

Hi everyone.
I'm super excited to say that Dh and I just booked. Its my 30th bday and the kids are staying here in PA.
This is our 1st cruise and were a bit nervous about the weather. We have been going back and forth with doing land or sea because I think it may be to cold to enjoy everything the cruise has to offer.
We decided to stick with the cruise after seeing the weather over the next week high 70s and right now the surface water temp is 73 but I expect it to warm up a bit with the temp going up (fingers crossed it will stay up)

We booked with DU and get a $275 OBC!!!!! Does anyone know if that is a credit on our KTTW card. I plan on using it for all my pina coladas.

We hope to get to know everyone over the next 17 days!

Welcome, welcome!!! Glad you are joining us!!! Yes, the OBC will be put on our onboard account and can be used for anything you purchase onboard. Think of it as a declining balance. DCL will use up all the OBC on the account for things you purchase during the cruise and then when you surpass that OBC credit on your account it will start to add up to be charged to your credit card on file. I think once you hit $200 or $300 on your account they physically charge the credit card. I know it is $400 on the 7 day cruise.

Let's all hope for warmer temps in the next few weeks!!! We have been on 19 DCL cruises so ask away if you have any questions!!! Many on this thread have cruised mulitple times so don't be shy about asking anything!!!:cool1::woohoo:

MJ

Welcome!

I am with you hoping for warmer temps for the cruise!

:thumbsup2

Hi and welcome!
Pina coladas and hot sun sound good right now. Our streets are still covered with ice...

Quick, silly question for everybody about the Fish Exchange...

Have we decided how many nights we are doing the FE? One? 4?

Thanks,
Kristina :cutie:
