We went swimming at the Casitas quiet pool. Then headed over to the dig site. We didn't realize that winter hours were now in effect. Anakin was so hurt that he couldn't go on the jaguar slide. He had a hard time adjusting to the change. He wanted to go back to the room, so we didn't see the movie or swim. Instead we suffered through a meltdown. Went back to the room, did some Wilbarger brushing protocol, and the calmness took effect.

We went back outside for a walk and took pics of the resort at night.

Great photos....love how different the resorts look at night!

Have been away from the boards for a while and trying to catch up! I just ran accross your post on the CSR thread and popped over to see your latest trip details.

The haircut scene hit close to home. When DD was younger we had the screaming haircut issues and it would freak out the the stylist and everyone in the shop. Luckily Anakin could sympathize with the child even though it grated on his own sensory sensitivities. We are so grateful to have found a new stylist a few years ago that has an older brother with autism. She TOTALLY gets it and works so well with DD. DD now looks forward to getting her hair cut and her stylist loves working with her....gets a kick out of the funny responses and questions and takes no offense to comments or actions. God bless her:goodvibes

The Jedi training looks awesome. He looks so intent on learning the secret and then proud of his new designation:love:

How did things go at PM this trip? Was everyone accomodating with his allergies or "bothered?" We are finally set for our first trip to CSR at the end of Oct and I am a teensy nervous about DD's food allergies at CSR as it is not run by Disney. I am going to email special diets this week and ask if there is a contact I can email at Palmas??? Services.

LOVED all the pics. You do such a great job.

My mom is a hairdresser and most of his haircuts were from his Meme. Usually she'd have him sitting on the kitchen table watching tv or playing with toys. She has such a knack for kids that just her talking with them, they forget they are getting their hair cut. Sadly my dad had a series of strokes last summer and he isn't well enough to travel to visit us as frequently as they use to. (They use to spend up to 5 months of the year at our house.)

Other than his Meme, he will go to two other hair dressers at home, or to Disney. He explains that it is a trust issue. He doesn't trust anyone else, because he doesn't know what to expect with them.

Michal at Harmony Barber shop is very good with the children. He makes each child feel so special and focuses on them individually!

We stayed at CSR in March too. DS17, the one with all the food allergies, was able to eat the chicken quesadilla and he stuck with that at the Pepper Market.

We had alot of trouble with customer service at the Pepper Market. We felt pretty invisible there. Brenda at special diets use to be our contact person, but I don't think she is there anymore. Your best bet is to send off an email to special diets in advance. Be sure to include your reservation number, email addy, and a phone number. When you do eat at the PM, when you arrive at the podium let them know you have food allergies and ask if a manager would be able to speak to you. It always takes more time to have things specially prepared.

I had one Chef at the fajita area, Tomas, who was very attentive and even repeated back my requests to him. He told the other two people in there with him. But when it came time to plate the food, someone else did it and put a "no-no" food right on the plate touching the cheese quesadilla. So they had to start over from scratch.

Honestly, with the food allergies, I often find counter service to be a problem. Table service works out much better for my son and his allergies. Especially good is The Plaza Restaurant when Chef Ken is working, usually he is there at lunch time on week days. Whispering Canyon and Ohana have usually contacted us in advance and discussed our son's allergies and menu options available for him.

I know that WDW is larger than DLR, but I am still amazed when I see the photos of places like CSR. I must tell you CSR is beautiful. Have you ever been to DLR? Are all the resorts as large as CSR?

The resort is so beautiful and I think that the difference between night and day is stunning. In daytime it is beautiful but at night it is gorgeous.

I went with my best friend last February, we started our trip on President's Day. It was crazy busy. The next few days were rather busy too. We managed to have a great time though. My husband and I will be there the week before you. We are doing our 20th anniversary over Valentines Day.

We spent 6 days there last year in June when World of Color opened. Or as I like to refer to it World of Chaos. It was insane busy. So the 6 days was actually good. We were able to take it at a slow pace and do what we wanted to do even though it was people on top of people.

There have been a lot of changes since you were there last. To me the changes that I don't like but cannot change is the letters are gone in the esplanade and the Golden Gate Bridge is going down. Sigh. I am excited for the changes but some is sad.

Sorry for the hijack.

Most of the resorts are spread out. Very few are small. Each has it's own unique theming and charm. Each one is very different from the next.

When we took my mom on her first WDW trip she pictured park hopping as walking from one park to another. She was shocked when it took up to 30 minutes to go from one to another. Even more shocked when she learned you had to use a boat, bus, or monorail to do so. She was picturing Epcot to MK being like Fantasyland to Tomorrowland.

Sounds like a really fun Pres Day weekend! Does DLR get as busy as WDW over Pres day weekend? Do you miss living close to a Disney park? Does Megan like surprises? Joe loves surprises! But a suprise to Anakin could ruin his whole day. If anything in the day is going to change, he needs time to process the change.

World of Color looks so cool! Maybe some day we will get there? I was in high school when we went to DL for the first time. Your PTR is making me wishful. It sure sounds very different from WDW.

One thing that is noticeably different for me is that from any of the hotels at the DLR you can walk to the parks. Plus you can actually do the park hopping your mom envisioned. Heck the area is so compact you can stay at a lot of offsite places that are within walking distance of the parks. I cannot see doing that at WDW.

that's why I love DLR so much, it is so easy to get around!

we've stayed off site most of our trips, have stayed at all three of the "Disney" resorts though at different times over the years.
we lived about an hour away for 18 months so went at least once a month for the day which was a lot of fun!

Megan does like surprises, just hard to do it sometimes, I think she can sense when I'm planning something.

we've been there before on Pres Day, Spring Break, Thanksgiving and yes is crowded, but guess since we've gone somuch if we miss something, know we'll do it again soon.

Back in the early 80's we stayed at a Best Western. We walked right across the street to DL, right under the monorail track and through a parking lot. I heard that's changed since then though. My mom had been to DL as a child and adult, so I'm sure she thought it was just like that in FL.

At WDW, you can walk to Epcot and DHS from the YC, BC, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin. To MK from the Contemporary. Other than that, you need transportation.

I forgot to mention that our supper at the Pepper Market on Sunday night was the best of our trip. We were no longer invisible!! There was a manager there watching everything. I was greeted the moment I stepped up to the podium, and at each stall. Even if they couldn't get to me right away, I was greeted with a hello or hola and told they would soon be with me.

Our server was a man from Egypt, can't think of his name except that it starts with an A and we had him as a server in March. He was awesome in March, and just as fantastic in August!! He is very personable. He called Anakin by his name. Asked him by name if he needed a refill on water.

We gave him extra tip in March. And wanted to do the same now. I asked him how they know at the register that he waited on us? There was no mention of our table number or his name on the ticket that gets stamped. He explained that of the 10% that 6% of it gets pulled and split among all the servers. The other 4% goes somewhere else. He told us where, but neither my husband nor I can remember now.

We gave Anakin the extra tip to personally give to him. He thanked Anakin and us. Wished us a nice evening and said see you in October! We hope we do see him then, and that he waits on us!!
