Disney done differently, (BOG dining updates pages 202 and 203)

I figured out how to get the pics to photobucket, then from my laptop to get the pics to here.

One day this week, we went to the PM for lunch then to AK to walk around. Please keep in mind that Anakin was going stir crazy and needed out of the house, but was still feeling a bit under the weather. We used the medical stroller to transport him around AK. We didn't stay long, but had an awesome time in the short time we were there. We had lots of great CM interaction. It's amazing how different your day can be when you actually stop and smell the roses, not something we usually do.

We arrived at the Pepper Market just before closing. I asked if the food "disappears" right at 2pm. I was told no, it stays out a bit longer. We were seated and waited for our server. After waiting a bit longer the guys decided to get their food while I waited.

No server acknowledged our presence, so I saw Vania who waited on us in the past. She said she would come and take care of us. She took our drink order and asked Anakin's age. While she was getting the drinks, I went up and got my food. Since I didn't know how much time I had, I made a couple trips between the table and the food stations.

Anakin's food: (look Kaoden, no chicken! lol)

Pmjfood.jpg

He had chocolate surprise for dessert. Have you ever seen Agent Cody Banks 2? The "chef" brings out chocolate surprise for the kids. So Anakin went up there and asked for chocolate surprise. The first time, it took the cm by surprised. Now she is use to us. She dished out chocolate icecream, M&M's, chocolate chips, and I'm not sure what else was in there, or how I missed taking a picture of it?

Goofy's:

Chicken quesadilla, loaded mashed potatoes topped with corn (his doing), banana muffin, chocolate chip cookie, and both kinds of pasta.

Pmfood1.jpg

He also had strawberry shortcake for dessert

Mine:

Chicken quesadilla, guacamole (my favorite), mixed vegies, and oven roasted potatoes

After lunch we headed over to the Animal Kingdom.

Anakin wanted to ride Triceratop Spin. I was concerned about going in circles. But Goofy felt it would be fine for him.

They now have numbers on the ground. When you say how many is in your party, they tell you to stand on a number. The number obviously coresponds to a number on a dino.

Numberfortriceratopspin.jpg

Our next stop was to see the Tigers on the MJT. Along the way, we stopped at what we thought were monkeys. But the CM corrected us and told us they are apes.

Brought us to the old Veggie Tale song..."If it does have a tail it's a monkey, if it doesn't have a tail it's an ape."

We were told this was a family of apes and that they all had the same family cry that associates them to their family. In the wild, each family has their own cry. She told how to save these apes by buying shade coffee.

Next up the tigers. There were 3 tigers out, but they didn't cooperate for pictures.

The Elkdeer did though.

Akelkdeer1.jpg

There was a cm at the Elkdeer who explained to Anakin about the antlers and how they shed them. They let him touch an old one. He said it felt like plastic. The cm told him it's made of the same material as our fingernails.

Next cm had a paw print. She explained to Anakin how to tell the difference between a male and female tiger. One is oval shaped the other round.

Aklionpawprint.jpg

Next stop was a pin trading board outside of Kali River Rapids which is closed for refurbishment.

Our final destination of the day was Kilamanjaro Safari. Tons of animals were out!

On the way out of the park we stopped and watched the otters play.

Looks like you had a great and informative visit to AK! :goodvibes The food at PM looked yummy!

I don't remember the day (one day in January), but we went for lunch at Whispering Canyon then went to Blizzard Beach for a couple hours. BB was empty!! We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves!

Bbsleigh.jpg

Anakin thought it was hysterical that the snowmen were dripping water. I told him they are melting. But he said they weren't cold. Well, that's why they're melting!!

Even though it was empty, people still had the patios rented!?

Bbpatiorental.jpg

We got a locker in the Ski Patrol Area

Bbskipatrol.jpg

We rode the ski lift up to the family slide! Anakin was so scared to get on. They flagged our ski lift to mark it that they were to slow it at the top. The only thing about going slow, when you get to the top, the bar goes up way before you can get out. Anakin was trying to get out and he would have fallen far if he had succeeded. My stomach went into my throat. Now we know for future trips.

I am sending out a shout out for some prayer. I could use all the prayer, pixie dust, good thoughts, etc for an unspoken need that is causing me a huge amount of stress!!!

pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust::grouphug::hug::grouphug::hug::grouphug: and :goodvibes:goodvibes PRAYERS :goodvibes:goodvibes

coming your way! Is it the same worry you had last time, or something utterly brand new?? What ever it is God is with you.

I LOVED the foodie pics and the Chocolate surprise sounds perfect for a child.:goodvibes laughed at the corn in the potatoes...David does that and a WHOLE LOT MORE! He loves to "re-create" his food...:lmao::lmao:

I hope the trip is off to a wonderful start! :goodvibes

I think that is what I forgot to do on our trip...stop and smell the roses! Probably why I am disappointed in the trip is because I planned it to be rushed, rushed, rushed...thinking this would be the only time we got there as a family.

I love the pictures of Blizzard Beach...the kids want on the next trip :rolleyes1 to be in the summer so they can use the pool and the water parks.

Kaoden, I am so clueless with this new phone. How do I use the phone to get pics from photobucket to the DIS via phone?? I don't know how to copy and paste with this thing. I figured out how to upload pics though!! Thanks!

I am clueless how to load from my phone to disboards. Even from photobucket so I can't help you with that.

No chicken?:scared1: I am shocked!! Shocked I tell you!!:rotfl:

What great CM's at AK. I love the fact that they explained those things. I never knew that about the tigers.

I'm so sorry you were disappointed in your trip.

Back in our early WDW days we did the "Do Dumbo or Die touring plan". From morning to night we went commando. It's exhausting and we needed a vacation once we got home from our vacation. It was nice though to experience so many things though!

We don't go to BB very often, in fact, only when TL is closed. Now that Anakin is taller, BB was a difficult park to visit. While his maturity and skill level would put him in the Tike's Peak area, he was too tall to do any slides there. He was allowed to dig in the sand and go in the wading area though.

A wonderful lifeguard explained to me which ones would be appropriate for him and which would not. He was unable to get on or off a tube by himself. It's a good thing both dh and I were there.

He did wipe out once and hit his head and scratch his arm. The life guard who I had told he needs help getting off the tube, yelled at him to get out of the tube. I didn't get there in time to help him out and he wiped out. Thankfully he was just a bit scratched, but I was worried about the bump to the head. I reprimanded Anakin that no matter what someone says, he has to wait for help. And I reprimanded the lifeguard, that I told him he needs assistance, that he is not to get out of the tube himself.

Must be a man thing, lol. Exept for that one wipe out, he had an awesome time. He didn't remember ever being there before so it was all new to him.

Looks like fun afternoons at AK and BB (I can't believe how empty it is).

You asked if I started my TR, and I have. Here is the link:

Thanks for the link! Will check it out soon!

The Animal Kingdom is so educational. We seem to learn something new each time.

The no chicken is a surprise. We don't see that too often.

Blessedmom4, totally different than before, although that last concern was tabled so it's not over.

Once upon a time…oh wait, I can’t start this portion of the TR like that. Anakin says that “once upon a time” means it didn’t really happen; and our trip definitely happened! You know that Disney commercial where the child is in school and he explains to his class what he did over the summer and they don’t believe it. This quick 2 night, 3 day trip was sort of like that. We battled villains, saved the MK three times from impending doom, saw “exotic” experiences, and much, much, more…

Our adventure started a few days earlier with online check-in. After debating whether or not to do online check-in. (Remember our previous requests were lost in December when we did online check-in for POFQ). I caved in, and did it. Much to my surprise the choices changed! I clicked my two choices AND my previous request through Disney reservations remained in the system for building 10 (Big Wheel building in 70’s area).

onlinecheckinpop.jpg

The actual check-in process was positively painless, as Paula took great care of us! Our last POP stay put us in room 113 near Mr. Potato Head. Somehow I thought we were in room 131 that time. So when we were given room 132, we thought we knew where we were headed. We drove around and parked in the 70’s and 80’s lot back by the lake. Got to where we thought we needed to go and realized we were wrong. We did stay in room 131 at one time, so we headed to another area we had stayed at before. Here we found our room! Again we were happy it was not a connecting room, it was in the 70’s Big Wheel Building AND it was on the first floor!! Requests were met and the room was ready!!!

Ann, I think I need you to make a special trip to Pop Century. Would you believe I forgot to take a picture of our room number? I also didn’t take any pics of the resort or our room. Not even any updates of the progress of AoA. Boy am I slipping!!

After the fiasco at POFQ with the room keys, we decided to make sure our keys worked. They did! It was lunch time so we headed off to CSR to eat once again at the PM’s lunch buffet!!

We all had our usual favorites. Only took pics of dessert though. That’s the best part anyway, right?!

Pmcookiesmuffin.jpg

Pmchocolatesurprisr.jpg

We had perfect timing for lunch! It was busier than usual, but we were seated right away. As we were leaving, I snapped a picture of the newly formed line as a convention got out and they all went to eat. That is the longest I have ever seen the line for the PM!!

Longpmline.jpg

With bellies satisfied, we went back to POP to unpack the luggage. This time we parked in the 90’s lot closest to the main building and buses. Here we were right near our room!! It made it easy to unpack. Once again I way over packed. Maybe I’ll do better for our CSR stay in May?

Our room was immaculate except for the dresser drawers. We had a surprise in there. Nerds for a late night snack, I guess, a discount card for merchandise, and a shopping bag! What treasures! Ok, wasn’t so happy with our find, but the rest of the room, the bedding, bathroom, was all in tip top shape, so we were good!

We decided to head to the MK for a little, then go back to the resort to swim. Crowd levels when I booked the trip were at a 2, but now they were at a 6. We knew it would be fairly busy. There were updates on the FEB DISer group on facebook that AK and DHS were crowded. Epcot was listed as the park to avoid so we thought the MK made sense. I texted one of the Feb DISers, but as we zigged, she zagged, so we missed her.

We drove to the TTC. Got in the monorail queue. We were guided to the wheelchair access area, but when the train came nobody brought a ramp.

It’s a good thing that Goofy was here, because he was able to get the medical stroller into the train. The footrests on the Convaid Cruiser are heavy!! I think half the weight of the stroller is in those foot rests. Even if I put my full weight on the handles of his stroller, I cannot pick up the front wheels when he is seated in it.

The same happened upon arrival at the MK. There was no one with a ramp. I looked for someone, but they were preoccupied looking the opposite way. Goofy got him off the train. So glad I wasn’t solo with him! Not sure what I would have done. I guess jump up and down and flag my arms for attention?!

For the first time in a very long time, security thoroughly checked my bag. I mean he checked every item in my bag.

I noticed the fire station was opened. I asked my boys if they wanted to save the MK from impending doom?!

Hmmm... is security changing, or were you just suspicious looking? :lmao:

Can't wait to see if you rescued MK from any doom! :woohoo:

Great updates girl!!! Sorry about the monorail, we find that that happens sometimes with us as well, when it's not busy. We've seen the monorail people stand around talking, and Chris has to go flag one down...uh, sorry to interrupt your gossip with WORK! Geez! LOL Glad goofy was there to help ya out!! Love the food pics, makes me hungry!! LOL

love the new on-line check in....is it just for POP??

that's a lot of people waiting for PM  good thing you beat the rush!!

bummer about the monorail, I would of said something to the "working" CM"S

at least that's all you found in the drawers, could of been a LOT worse!

Security officer " here comes that lady yet again...we better check her out, never know what she keeps bringing into the World" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

can't wait to read more about the exciting adventures!

Joining in and going through as much as I can .. it will take awhile to go through 118 pages though !

Honestly, I pack the back pack better than the suitcases!! :rotfl2: He wasn't being discriminatory, he was checking every guest's bag thoroughly. Maybe Super Bowl Sunday called for extra measures?

Thanks. With my luck, the train would pull away with Anakin on it, while I'm going to flag someone down. Yikes!

Maybe sometime before you leave we can go there together. Add it to your Disney bucket list? Or start a new one of restaurants!

Looks like all resorts added options for online check in, though I keep seeing reports of people getting error messages. I had no trouble, it worked great!

The drawer scene could have been worse. We left the stuff there and didn't use it. I'd love to know if the next guest in room 132 still has that stuff in their dresser drawers.

Joining in and going through as much as I can .. it will take awhile to go through 118 pages though !

:welcome::welcome: Glad to have you here! Sorry my table of contents are not updated, that would make it easier. Your son's MAW trip will be here soon! I bet you are getting really excited!
