Hi Guys, I'm taking DD4 for her first visit to WDW next week. My husband isn't coming with us but would like to get her some Disney dollars for the trip. My question is there someplace we could get them before we get there? We are driving to BUF and flying from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard that Disney Dollars are being faised out. Not sure if it was just a rumor or fact. I had also read that you can purchase them at the resorts. If this is true then and idea would be for Dad to make her a card that you can give her after you've had the chance to slip in the Disney Dollars;)

I bought Disney Dollars at City Hall in Magic Kingdom. I don't think that you can buy any here in Canada though. Good luck.

Have an awesome trip!

I have some Disney dollars left from our last trip. Maybe $5 or $10. They are both $5 bills that have Daisy and Minnie on them.
Are you in Whitby? I'm only in Newcastle and could sell them to you if you would like.
Otherwise, the only place you can buy them is at WDW. I have not heard anything about them being phased out, but I also never see a lot of people using them.
If you decide the buy them there, just pick some up at the hotel when you are checking in, if you are staying on property.

We asked at the Vaughan Mills Disney Store and at the Chicago Disney Store and we were told that they are only available in the parks. (And that the gift cards aren't usable in the parks either, in case you wondered, as we did.)

Do you mean the Disney gift cards available in the US Disney stores? If so, I use them in the parks all the time. I've also used them to help pay down my Disney trips via phone. I get the Disney cards through reward programs online. I just wanted to make sure my fellow Canadians know how great and convenient the gift cards are in Disney! :)

I did mean those gift cards, either the person we asked didn't know the correct answer, or we only asked in Canada... could be either.
Good to know we can get the gift cards in the States!

I wondered about the gift cards too. I saw them selling Disneyworld Gift Cards on the Disney World website. I'm bringing 5 kids to Disney and I was thinking to buy them each a gift card so they can buy what they want while we're there and they won't be hounding me for money at every turn. They would each have the same amount and would each have to work out how they want to spend it. For anyone who's been do they accept the GC's everywhere like if a kid just wants an ice cream or something?

Hi!

I'm not positive if Canadians can order them from the website and have them mailed to you. If you can, I think the shipping cost is high. I have heard of people buying them, and having them shipped to American friends, who then mail them to Canada. You can always buy them from guest services when you arrive in Disney as well. As I mentioned, I get them through reward programs online where I get paid to answer surveys, etc..

As for your other question, I would guess that gift cards are good at 95% of places in Disney. Most carts selling ice cream and other novelties DO accept the cards. I've found maybe 2 carts over the last 5yrs that didn't. I just moved onto the next cart instead - no problem. I gave some gift cards ($25 on each card) to our boys on our upcoming trip and told them that they can spend it on whatever they want. They were sooo excited!! :)

sounds great..thanks...maybe I'll just buy them when I get there.
