Can I buy disney dollars at disneyland? If yes, where?
Also I think I know they work just like cash, but if there are any left over can we exchange them somplace for real dollars?
If we buy an item and get change back is the change in disney dollars or in real monies?

And one last question, anybody have any pictures or know where I can see what the disney dollars actually look like? I tried the main disneyland site but couldn't find anything. Thanks everyone.

You can buy them from the World of Dinsey Store. There's also a bank on Main Street. They can be exchanged for real $$ at either of these two places or one of the Disney Hotels. They will give you real change back with purchases

I was kinda wondering myself what they exactly look like, I know they change the design every so often and the last ones I saw had princesses on them, anyone know if these are still the current Disney Dollars?

We bought them from a cashier at the Greetings from CA giftshop. She didn't really want to sell them to me, wanted to say they didn't have any there, but I pushed her to look around, and there they were, under her cash tray in the register. Weird to not want to sell them, IMO.

You can change them back to cash, yes.

When you use them you get cash as change.

They look like "funny money" with a character's picture instead of a president's.

see i was wondering all this to. ty I have to make sure to get some now

I think the designs change on a yearly basis. I know that last year they had POTC designs as well. I'm not sure what the current design is, since the last time I looked for them, I just wanted the Sleeping Beauty one(wish she'd been on the one instead of the five, but at least she wasn't on the ten). ;)

Now that I see that link, I remember reading somewhere a few months ago that the dollars were for Mickey's 80th birthday. You may still be able to find older designs in the parks if they still have supplies, but you'll have to ask. Disneyana is a good place to check.

The disney dollars are so cute, I wanted to bring back a sample of each bill, but then realized I could use the real cash more. LOL!

yes, change is given back in cash. Vendors and stores take disney dollars.

We just returned earlier this week from DL. Our dollars had mickey, dumbo and a princess (I think it was cinderella, but cant' recall totally). I had 1s, 5s, and 10s.

We got our disney dollars from City Hall.

Yes you can buy them in Disneyland, and at almost any store. You can also buy them at the Disney Stores, but if you decide to do that, call first. There is a shortage of Disney dollars right now, and many stores, including mine, are sold out.
This year there were $1, $5, and $10, all with different Mickey Mouses in celebration of his 80th bday. The $1 has MM from 1930, the $5 has MM from 1955, and the $10 has MM from 21st century (that is reall what it says), kinda like the one from Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, where he is knida 3-D. You get real cash back as change, and yes, you can trade in your left over Disney Dollars for real money, but many stores require a receipt for your Disney Dollars to get them back as cash, or at least they are supposed to get your receipt. But if you do have leftovers, you can always use them at your local Disney Store as well.

HTH!!

Earlier this year when buying food at the Bengal Barbeque, we paid w/ a normal bill and got change back in Disney Dollars. I was so happy bc Stitch was on it (my puppy!) and it was a part of the 50th celebration collection.

its smart to use Disney Dollars... Why? Because you can go into a store and buy them with your credit card. So lets say your credit card does a return of 3%, that means you save 3 pennies per dollar! :D Not much but hey, if you plan to spend a lot at Disneyland, you can buy a churro with all those pennies! :D

The art store on main street, the one with things in glass locked cases. I was drooling over a large crystal Tink. But it had such a large price tag I nearly fainted!! But they had the only Disney pirate dollars!!!

thanks for the link. I was thinking of purchasing some to add to my scrapbook after scanning them & then saving them to use on the following trip. But now, I can just use them at the parks. :yay:

smart thinking! :teacher:

i wish we could use them and then still keep them (but not use again) just for the colection book

So if the art store had pirate dollars does that mean that different stores in the park have different looking disney dollars? Or are they all the same regardless where you buy them?

I got all three of these back in summer of 2007 from the Emporium.

They have the Black Pearl, Empress, and Flying Dutchman on the backs. Pretty cool.
I think they have some for Mickey's 80th anniversary right now... not sure though.
I only bought these Disney Dollars because I love POTC and the third one had just been released at the time.
