Disney dollars and charging to your room

I plan to set it up so we can charge things to our room. My kids have earned their Disney dollars, but I don't really want to carry them around everywhere. I was wondering, if I charge to the room for them, could we then go and pay those charges with their DD? Is it something I can do on a daily basis if I wanted to, pay the charges in cash? Am I making any sense? LOL
