Disney Dollar Question

My family has been giving me Disney Dollars as gifts for each 'gift-giving' holiday since we booked our cruise.

What happens if we put, for example, $600 Disney Dollars down on our shipboard account and we only spend $400? Can they give you cash back?

The reason I ask is that I can't see needing Disney Dollars for anything once we come home. I would want to 'trade-in' the left over Disney Dollars (if there is any) for cash.

Yes, they can give you cash in return for the Disney Dollars at the end if you do not use all the money you have applied to your reservation.

I also found out from the disney store in my mall that if i do not use them....that they (the store in my mall) would refund also as long as i had the original receipt.

The Disney Stores have changed their policy, you can no long return unused Disney Dollars (even with the receipt) But you can spend them in the store.

When did they change it because the store in the mall here...told me less than a week ago that I could get cash back????!!!!!

it changed around mayish (along with the new 60 day return policy) It states on the back of all receipts under the "Theme park tickets, disney dollares and gift cards/certificates" headding.

No refunds or credits on Disney Theme park tickets, Disney Dollars, and gift cards/certificates. Lost, stolen or damaged gift cards will not be canceled and replaced without the required proff of purchase.

So again.....we will get cash back if we spend less than we put down on our account once on board right? Thats not exactly refund....or is it? OR do they save these things and return payment with disney dollars? If that is the case, I will tell them to use the disney dollars before touching my credit card....

I am calling Disney right now to ask this question. I will write the results when I find out.

I just got off the phone with DCL. You can request your refund back as EITHER cash OR Disney Dollars.

The CM even checked with a supervisor because she was unsure of the procedure.

Do you have to remember to go back for the refund or will they contact you about a balance that is "over" 0.00?
