No Disney’s Rise of Resistance today. Registered in their virtual queue within ten minutes of the park opening at 6am and find out at 6:30pm that we won’t get to ride it. They are no longer adding groups and the park doesn’t close for another three hours. I knew it was a possibility.

With their virtual queue, Disney takes the decision away from the park guest. If I’m willing to stand in a line five hours (or 10 hrs for Hagrid at Universal), that should be my choice. CEO Iger [corrected CEO] made fun of Universal for their 10hr wait fiasco, but Disney has done the same thing by keeping you “hostage” for over twelve hours and then closing the ride 3.5 hrs before the park.

I wonder how many Disney VIP Tour Guides took paying people on the ride today? I’ll try again another day, just a little salty.

Are you sure they just aren’t giving out additional boarding groups? What boarding group number did you get?

The line IS still 5 hours...or 10 hours....you just aren't made to stand in it. You are allowed to go and do/enjoy other stuff while your spot in line is held virtually. Thus a VIRTUAL QUEUE. Also, Michael Eisner in't the CEO of Disney. You are not hostage...you can go anywhere and do anything else while your spot in line is held virtually. As opposed to a 7 hour long line you'd be held hostage to stand in and STILL not be allowed to ride today (I'm guessing multiple breakdowns caused things to get back logged).

Was your assigned boarding group # a very high one?

PS...I get you are disappointed (and salty LOL) but Disney hasn't done anything wrong.

Now imagine you having been in the standby line for 10 hours, without being able to do other attractions, dining reservations, shopping, walking around the park, and then told the ride is having technical difficulties and you won't get to ride it

Dang they didn’t even make it through the regular BG today?

The VQ method is the best way they could be handling this. The only thing worse than finding out at 6:30 PM you won’t be riding after joining the group 12 hours earlier would have been waiting in that queue for 12 hours.

I think they got through the initial boarding passes today. We were group 104 and the backups started at 107. I didn’t see any groups past 109 called. The ride did go down for about 30 minutes while we were in the queue around 6:30 pm.

They did get through the original boarding groups. We were in the backup. I knew it could happen. I knew we could leave. But that didn’t keep me from checking every bit to see how it was progressing. Personally, I would rather have the standby line option. It is Iger and not Eisner, my fault. But still salty they quit 1.5 hrs before park closed.

Wow I didn’t realize they were already distributing back ups 10 mins into opening this morning, yikes!! Sorry you missed out on the ride :(

I understand how you feel. I’d be salty too.

Ugh. I'd be pretty disappointed too.

I heard a rumor they opened running only at half capacity but really haven't kept up. Anyone know if that's the case and if it's still what is happening?

You would seriously rather be in a standby line for 10 hours, unable to do anything else and be told that you can't ride cause the ride had technical difficulties rather than what you got to do yesterday?

Disney shouldn’t open a ride, IMHO, until they are reasonably assured they can pull it off day in-and-out. Opening a questionably operative ride during the busiest time of the year? I don’t think it’s that operational problematic unless they are hiding that with the virtual queue manipulation. If I was here for a limited time, I would like the choice.

they do the same thing, IMHO, with the fast pass system. No fast passes, ok. You can join the virtual queue or use the standby land.

Yeah, but you didn't answer my question

Yeah, but you didn't answer my question
I’ve wasted more time than that in my life. Would I? If you have to have an answer, I wouldn’t rule it out if that was the way for me to get a chance to ride it. But, you miss one of the points, I didn’t have a choice.
