Disney Dining

I called Disney Dining last Friday to make my dining reservations for Spring Break. Everything was going nicely. I was able to book everything I wanted until I told the CM I wanted the Garden Grove for April 4th (Easter Sunday). The CM I talked to told me there was nothing available and the only thing left for Easter Sunday was The Wave in the Contemporary!

I was disappointed because I thought we would just hang around the resort (The Swan) on Easter Sunday.

Today I decided to call the Swan/Dolphin itself, and check on availability. I had no trouble booking a reservation for April 4th!

You will find that with most of the restaurants not owned by Disney (for example T-Rex, Rain Forest Cafe etc...). They do not release all there reservations to Disney for booking. Although you can book reservations through Disney you can also call the restaurants. When I have called directly I was able to get reservations that I was not able to book on the Disney system.

It is true that Disney doesn't have all of the times and dates for non-disney restaurants. I wanted a 7:00PM ressie for TRex in January. Through disney I was only getting 5:00PM or 9:00PM. I called the restaurant directly and they had what I wanted. They asked which times I was getting from Disney and informed me that Disney wasn't supposed to have any times "for that time of year" yet?

Also, if you book with the restaurant directly, you generally aren't subject to Disney's dining schedule... You can book T-Rex, Raglan Road, and a few others more than 180 out if you're so inclined (though this probably won't matter as much with a 180 day window as it did when it was 90 days).
