Disney Dining

The purchased plan? No, I'm not positive, but if you want to cancel, the sooner the better would be my guess.

I think you need to cancel the plan before the 45 day mark to avoid fees.

I may be wrong, but I think that is what the CM told me when we booked it a few years ago.

The odd thing is that, if I remember correctly, you have more time to cancel a hotel room than you do the Dining Plan. :confused3

Thats what I thought too. Oh well I will try tomorrow. We leave next week and my Mom may or may not be able to go. I really should have done it today.

Thanks.

So I wanted to give everyone an update. You can cancel the Disney Dining plan up to 1 day before!
So I was able to cancel my Mom's dining and if she is able to come with us she will just have to pay oop.

Is she staying with you? If so, there is a requirement that all guests be on the same plan for the entire duration of the reservation. Adding guests to an existing reservation at time of check-in doesn't work very well (there have been mixed results) when you have the dining plan for the existing guests.

Yes, she would be staying with us. I also have all meals booked for all of us (including her). When I called they said she could still dine with us but get a sperate check. I hope so. There is no way to know if she will be coming or not. This is going to sound really bad but the reason she canceled is due to her Mom. Hospice gives her Mom only until friday. If that happens I think my Mom should come, that way she is surronded by her grandchildren for some fun instead of being sad at home. However you never know. :confused3

Never in a million years did i plan for this, it all happened within the past 2 weeks!

Should I change all of my reservations now too?

I was going to cancel by my Mom insists that I take her grandkids (my nephews) because they are to young and would not understand and be heartbroken.

Wow. That's a really tough position to be in. Do what your Mom wants. That is the best thing you can do for her right now. If she ends up being able to go, don't worry about it. Simply tell them at the desk what the situation is and ask for a manager if they give you trouble (which I'm sure they won't).

You have to be able to get a separate check, because others on the DDP meet non DDP people for dinner all the time. The server just sorts it all out.

Good luck to you. Take care.

I wouldn't be as worried about dining reservations, a person missing isn't a big deal outside of the prepaid type events. I was more referring to your room reservation and the interaction with DDP. DDP isn't very flexible in terms of changes/additions and there are minimum notification periods to add or remove it. There are also restrictions on guests registered in the room, and being required to be all on the same plan.

The most common result I've heard is if someone has DDP and they arrive with an additional guest that will be registered, the additional guest is not registered with DDP. That said though, although not a customer centric decision, they could deny registering an additional guest. Other options are being forced to remove DDP all together for all guests or adding DDP for the newly registered guest.

I did book a 2 bedroom at BLT. So the number of people in the room should not be an issue. I guess if we run into trouble they can just cancel my dining. :confused3 There are bigger things in the world right? :thumbsup2

Absolutely, don't sweat the small stuff, it's all small stuff. Just stay as positive as you can, be prepared with knowledge at your side and just go with the flow.
