Disney Dining Reservations + Resort Reservations Question

Let’s say I have a 10-day hotel reservation on Disney property 60 days out from today, and I book dining reservations for all 10 of those days.

3 weeks from now I book entirely different accommodations (still on Disney property. Let’s say I decide to upgrade from value to deluxe). And then I cancel the original hotel reservation.

When I cancel the original hotel, would I run any risk of losing my dining reservations? I would still have hotels on those days and I would be in the 60 days window regardless.

Dining adrs are not attached to your resort reservation. your on-site stay just opens up the window to book your dining all at once, within your trip

This sounds like it would be pretty easy to abuse. Is there anything in place to stop that from happening?

Integrity? Available funds?
It does happen I’m sure but it’s a lot of work for very little return.

True, was just thinking it would help explain why there are so few reservations available when a window opens, but I guess there are lots of things contributing there.

Right now the issue is more guests but w social distancing, not all restaurants nor resorts open there just isn’t enough availability

There is always DoorDash option and who doesn’t like dinner at the pool?

They can't tie ADRs to resort reservations - not everyone has a resort reservation. In fact, most guests won't. The real abuse of the ADR system that occurred in the past, was largely dealt with when Disney implemented the $10 per person penalty for no-shows. Prior to that, many, many people would book at multiple restaurants for the same time just so they could decide at that time, where they wanted to eat. It was rampant.

And it still happens until they close the loophole about modifying them within 24 hours to a date further out and then cancelling them. Probably not to the degree that it used to did, but people still do it
