First time doing the dining plan in Disney for DH, I did a quick service in HS but don't really remember anything. We plan to use our snack credit on a pastry/bagel for breakfast every morning & upgraded to regular dining (got QS for free). We are both pretty picky/plain eaters. Are we hitting good places & getting moneys worth upgrading?

CS: Pop Century (no Park Ticket), Flame Tree, Liberty Inn, Pizza Planet, Be Our Guest, Pizzafari, Fairfax Fare

TS: Wolfgang Puck Cafe (no Park Ticket), Hollywood & Vine, Tony's Town Square, Biergarten, Tusker House, Sci-Fi, 50s Prime Time

Or anything that maybe we should check out? We definitely want the "experience" too, not something that looks too normal!

I can give you some suggestions based on the places you listed here. If you want more I can certainly help...just let me know.

As far a value you aren't doing bad. I would however suggest perhaps look at trying a signature restaurant with 2 of your credits so you can experience a really good restaurant for future reference.

Wolfgang Puck is great but I am not sure it is worth using a credit there since it is pretty cheap. 50s Prime Time is (IMHO) the best restaurant at DHS. Great food and atmosphere. Do you have Be Our Guest Reservations for dinner? If not it is just a counter service but worth trying just to see the restaurant itself. Decor is cool. Liberty Tree Tavern is a winner...keep that one.

Other than those you could switch some in and out. I recommend trying some Epcot World Showcase restaurants to open your mind to some new things. Le Cellier, Tepan Edo, Tutto Italia, San Angel Inn are all nice choices however, watch your credits when going to these locations. (Do not go to China...not very good).

Hope some of this helps. Post some additional questions and we can help!

Cheers!

I looked into Signature but we booked after the 180 mark & all the "good" ones were gone so I gave up there! That's why we were just using a TS credit on Wolfgang since we won't have a park ticket that day. However totally up for any suggestions for the first day that doesn't require park ticket! Or for a CS for our last day without park ticket! I was lost those 2 days, we will have a car so we can drive!

We do have a FP+ to Be Our Guest for lunch. And actually I mean Liberty Tree in Epcot. We thought about doing the Tavern but decided on Tonys Town instead.

I tried to get my husband to try some in Epcot but he is very fries & some kind of meat so none of them really fit except Biergarten since it was a buffet. Any recommendations for a picky eater?

Are you traveling with kids? When are you going? What time of day are your TS meals for?

Asking for opinions about the restaurants you chose, IMO, is really counter productive. You can ask 1,000 people about them and get 1,000 different answers. For example, I would avoid Tony's and H&V like the plague. Both are just downright awful, IMO. But someone else may have a totally different outlook on them. Go through the menus (allears.net) and pick the restaurants that are most appealing to you and your DH.

Also, the idea of all the "good" Signatures being booked is a bit of a stretch. In my experience, we have never had an issue booking a Signature on short notice, with the exception of CG durring Wishes. Citricos, Jiko, Flying Fish and Artist Point (the top 4 reataurants on the dining plan IMO) have always had openings for when we wanted.

Really? Maybe it's because of free dining but I couldn't find any for the days we needed but then again I haven't looked in about a month so it might have changed!

We aren't going with kids, just me & husband. And we are going 9/9 - 9/15.

I guess I'm just asking does any of the food like totally suck & do those have cool theming? We both really really wanted theming. That's why we shot down some places that look good but just didn't look cool. If I'm taking park time away I want it to be in a super awesome themed restaurant, not something I can eat in at home!

Wolfgang Puck EXPRESS is pretty cheap and uses a QC credit. I think the OP is looking at Wolfgang Puck CAFE that is a TS and more expensive. It is a good use of the TS credit.

Yeah looking at table service for the first night we are there!

Picky eaters are always tough. As far as a place to eat outside the parks...I personally find the table service options at the resorts much better than DTD. Some of my favorites include...Whispering Canyon Cafe, Bluezoo, Yachtsman, Flying Fish. As far as inside the parks you may want to look into the Plaza at MK. They offer a pretty simple menu for the hubby however you won't hit a higher price point to get your value for your DDP. Also the Liberty Tree Tavern is a great spot in MK for the entire family.

Hope some of this helps.

I would never waste a credit on Liberty Inn in Epcot. It is primarily American fast food. There is such a wide variety of opportunity in World Showcase, it is a shame to waste it that way. If your DH is picky and likes fries would he eat Fish & Chips in the UK? What about Bratwurst or a hot dog in Germany? There are wonderful sandwiches and treats in the French bakery.
Hollywood & Vine is one of only 2 restaurants in all of WDW that I will never return to. The tables were dirty and unbussed, our waitress was rude to us, the buffet was dirty, the hot food was not hot, the cold food was not cold and the Ladies Room was filthy. We went for dinner and never again.
50's PTC sounds like it would be perfect for you. It is old fashioned "comfort food"
Good Luck

I agree with 50's PTC. That is one of my favorites as well. Nothing like Pot Roast with Mashed Taters and a good old Milkshake/Malt to really do the trick.

Well we already have 50s PTC. And we looked into the fish/chips but I'm allergic to fish so that unfortunately threw that one out or we would have done that! Really about H&V? I heard good things about there?

The good things posted are mainly about breakfast. And for the character meals (breakfast and lunch) for toddlers. It has a reputation for excellent character interaction.
But the food was horrid, and it was dirty. We won't ever go again.

We love Via Napoli in the World showcase! The pizza is awesome plus the restaurant itself is pretty interesting inside!

So re-arranged after the advice, do I have any totally sucky ones now? I had to get a sucky time for one of them, but oh well maybe someone will cancel so I don't have to eat at 8:50pm!

CS: Wolfgang Puck Express, Flame Tree, Pizza Planet, Be Our Guest, Pizzafari, Fairfax Fare, Liberty Inn

TS: T-Rex, Mama Melrose, Liberty Tree Tavern, Biergarten, Tusker House, Sci-Fi, 50s Prime Time

I know I kept Liberty Inn after being told not to, but I just couldn't find any other counter service in Epcot that had just like fries as a side, except the Fish/Chips place but it only had fish & chips and I can't eat that. Any help there?

And does this look like better restaurants?

Seasons inside the Land

Seasons does not have fries but they have chips and things like coleslaw, pasta salad, etc. Have you thought about going to two different places? You could grab an awesome lunch in France to go then easily walk across the bridge and he can grab fish and chips in GB. Does he like Mexican? LA cantina is pretty good. Also instead of pizza planet I would do starring rolls. The pizza in WDW is less than desirable, I don't think you will want it for 2 meals!

Agreed. If you like pizza, and usually picky eaters do lol, go to Via Napoli. It is delicious.

I would rate Pizzafari a 4.5 out of 10. Just my opinion. Better places to eat at AK.

Agreed. Feel this way about Pizza Planet also.

For AK, Definitely eat at Flame Tree BBQ FIRST. That way if you like it, you can perhaps get it again!

As for Epcot, Sunshine Seasons is sooo good. They've also been pretty accommodating if you ask for a different side that is offered with something else on the menu. And the desserts are superb on the DDP.
