Have a few questions about the Disney Dining Plan:

1. What is the price per adult/child?

2. We bought 10-day passes last year- could we use those tickets or does this plan only apply to newly purchased tix?

3. Does this plan apply to current DVC members? How about those renting DVC points?

4. In your opinion, is this a cost effective plan (we have a 12 and 8 year old in addition to my wife and myself)?

5. Any tips on where to dine to get the most out of the plan?

Thanks in advance.

We returned a week ago and used the DDP for the first time.

-The price per adult is $37.99, don't know about kids it was just my DH and I.
-We have APs so can't answer the ticket question. They were not new APs.
-DVC members can add, as we did. I don't know about renters. I would assume if the owner agreed to call and add on for the renter, it should work.
-It is definitely worth the price. Actually for us it was almost too much food but you will get your money's worth.
-As to where to go, that is everyone's personal choice. I would print off the plan from the WDW official site and then go to allears.net and look at their menus. I would highly recommend ADRs for the table service meals, however. Both days we were at the MK, all table service restaurants were booked according to a sign on Main Street. We had made our ADRs before we left so we didn't have any problems.

We're about to give it a shot in Aug. But, as I understand it, if you use the table service credits it's a very cost effective plan. So, depending on what you do in #5 is ow #4 will shape up. :)

We've got a TS meal planned for each day of our trip. The kids' daily price of the DDP is covered just on those sit downs, so their lunches and snacks are basically "free." Our meals aren't quite as easy, but for the whole trip we're paying roughly $113 for lunch and snacks...not hard to rack up a $113 bill in lunch in 6 days at the World. That's all estimated on an average meal at our TS places. We used the DDE card last year, and found it to be a great value, but are giving the DDP a shot this time around.

If you are a DVC member staying on points you do not need to buy tickets to get the DDP.

I feel like it is a great way to budget in advance and I think it is cost effective.

Q#1: child (3-9) is around $10 -$11, can't remember exact amount.

Q#3: renters may participate, if you have the confirmation # you should be able to add them to your reservation. BTW, it must be requested BEFORE you arrive.

Q#4: cost effective if the 12 year old will eat enough to justify paying adult rate. Additionally, there's alot of food included. We love the plan & are glad that it's now an option but, wouldn't want to eat that heavy for a long period of time.

Good luck.

What's ADR ... ?

Our issue I think is that we don't usually have a big lunch and we aren't in the parks every day ... I think that if we were big eaters, it would probably be a big value ... but I don't think we spend enough $$ on our trips on Food to justify $38/day/adult and $11/day/child ... I'm going to keep better track of this next time and see ...

New Dis-speak for Advanced Dining Reservation, replaced PS-Priority Seating.

We don't eat breakfast when @ WDW (too busy running out the door for early EMH). We eat a early big lunch & late dinner.

Enjoy!

We just did the dining plan for our recent trip. It was 37.99 per adult and 11.99 per child. One of our dinners at Spoodles totaled 178 dollars but we used three table service credits. We thought that it was a fantastic deal all the way around. We are big eaters when given the opportunity. ;) And the dining plan was great for when my DS(14) was at DisneyQuest and we were in the parks, he could just go ahead and get a counter service meal and not have to interrupt his fun or ours.

Great meals:

Spoodles
Le Cellier
Coral Reef
Les chefs de France
Akerhaus Princess Breakfast
Whispering Canyon

Good meals:
Ohana
Stitch Character Breakfast
Teppanyaki
1900 Park Fare

I would not visit again:
Mama Melrose

Over all, TS meals that were not buffets were the best value overall. We had two TS meals left when we left Florida but that was not planned. We used all of the other credits. (I told you we were big eaters) popcorn::

Hmm...I maybe in luck, then. I'm renting points from a DIS member but I'm actually staying at 3 different resorts (well, the 1st one is just the 1st night we're in WDW and I was going to eat at Fulton Crab House which isn't on the plan anyway). In order to qualify for the DDP, does the stay have to be at one resort? Or do I have to buy the 1-day ticket minimum? I'd planned on getting a 6- or 7-day Park Hopper to save the money by going that route.

Well, according to DVC Member Services, DVC Guests are eligible for the DDP regardless of changing resorts during their stay.

HOWEVER, if the resorts are the Disney Collection (CR, YC, etc.) then Guests are NOT eligible for the DDP at all.

:(

I've seen that forum and looked through it but didn't see anything related to my specific question.

Saw this thread in the DVC forum and thought I'd give it a try.

This is true, we've rented points, before becoming DVC members and I myself, was able to call in to MS and add the DDP onto our reservation - after I got the confirmation #.
