Hi-
We are planning a trip to Disneyland the first week of June. We have done the dining plan in Florida, but never in California. I understand it is a voucher system.

Any tips or recommendation on how to use these? We can't really find any information, does anyone have any links to more information?

Thanks!

Recommendation: don't. :upsidedow

The plan at DL isn't really a plan, just the vouchers, unlike WDW. A few people like the idea of having the vouchers there for budgeting purposes, but they don't give you a price break at all. Also, if you use one for an amount less than on the voucher, you don't get change back.

For this reason, more people just use cash or a credit card, or if they want the prepaid amount set aside, a Disney gift card. Those at least are good for the exact amount you spend on food, until they are used up.

It would be nice if DL did something like WDW, but then, there are far fewer restaurants in the smaller resort.

From what I understand with the voucher system if there is a diff between the voucher(s) and you normally would get change back if it were cash, you do not get any change back, you forfit the difference.
It is nothing like WDW. I am sure you will get a number folks opinions.

I agree with everything stated here, but I would also like to add that the DL dining plan is not valid for the restaurants in Downtown Disney, which is where a bunch of the better DLR restaurants are.

We do both and like the system at WDW better. Just read over the vouchers to see what you get. For example the snack voucher is $6.95 and make sure you make any combination to use it all. At DL you can get the popcorn buckets where at DW you can't. It is an easy system to figure out just read the vouchers.
