Disney dining plan question

Hey guys! We've booked our Disney Holiday at OKW with the dining plan for August 2014, I know it's ages away but I was just wondering if any of you could answer our question

Our friends will be out there the same time as us, and will be meeting up with them, possibly going out for a meal in Downtown Disney. However they won't be on the dining plan as they're staying off site.

So our question is, when having a meal, does everyone in the party have to be included on the dining plan?

For example - A party of 4:
2 on the dining plan, 2 not on the dining plan

No, you don't all need to be on the DDP. When you're seated they will ask you and you just have to tell them who is on the DDP and who isn't and they'll split the bill for you.

As above just tell them how you want it splitting. At the end of the meal double check they have it right, we have found some servers are not great when splitting bills.

And some are brilliant - we had one where had one person not on the DDP so they charged the 2 most expensive entrees to the DP and we paid for the cheapest OOP. He got a good tip
