Disney Dining Plan Going Downhill? Your Thoughts???

We just came back from Disney and had the delux plan (not that it would have mattered on where we ate). We did a lot of TS lunches and mostly signatures at night. The food was good to excellent. There were only a few things that were just okay. Most of the service was very good too. I think the food at Disney is still good and we plan on doing the deluxe plan again in the fall.

I haven't read all of the pages, but all I can say is no matter the cause, this is the very first time I'm not enthused about making any ADRs (except V&As). I'm less than 2 weeks to my window and I don't have a single one figured out yet. We'll be eating in our villa for most if not all breakfasts, grabbing lunch on the go and dining off site for some of our dinners. I'm tired of paying premium for meals (we don't do dining plans) that are poor at best. If I'm going to pay $150+++ for a dinner for my family of 4, I'm going to LIKE it, or at the very least not leave still hungry. Is that too much to ask? ;) My biggest beef (pardon the pun) is the quality. It's just SO not worth the price tag, even for the convenience of eating on-site. And yes we fly in and rent a car.
This is pretty much how I feel about Disney dining lately. :guilty:

we just came back and with the exception of my steak at GF cafe all our meals were GREAT! The food was good and we enjoyed it.we ate at Ohana,le cellier,Crystal palace, olivias, kona,GF cafe, capt cooks, sunshine seasons (our fave CS) ,cosmic rays,el pirate (or whatever it is lol) ,the fish and chips place at epcot and EOS.We enjoyed all our meals...could have used tums after the pirate place but cant really complain about the food at wdw!

I know exactly how you feel. We have never done the dining plan because we love the flexibility of dining where ever we want to, including off-site. I read another post that explained the dining plan to somewhat of a food stamp plan. I am not sure of it since we never used it, but now that has me concerned.:scared1:

I've done the dining plan 4 times and am doing it again in Sept and I love it. The first year included appy and tip and was an unbelievable deal. It was too good a deal, and Disney lost their shirt. So they eliminated the tip and appy and dropped the price a buck and people started complaining it was going downhill. Last year the deal cost $39 and our average TS, QS and snack value was almost $60. And the food was all great(except Boma). Pot roast from PTC, veal t-bone from Le Cel, Biergarten, and HDDR and QS all over, and never a burger or hot dog or chicken nuggets.

We just returned from 9 nights with the dining plan, and again with the exception of my meal at LeCellier all the food was great. We also rent a car when we are down there but I prefer to eat at Disney.

As for the post about most DDP people ordering the most expensive just to get their money's worth is a little off.:confused3 We order what we want to eat, and the DDP gives us the option of not having to worry about it. Do I eat dessert at a local restaurant NO, but since I am on vacation I like to indulge.

And since I have been on the plan three times now since 1996, I really haven't noticed a decline.
