Can anyone tell me how the free dining works?

For example if you are staying at a moderate or a deluxe is the plan different?
I can not quite understand it, I am probably being really silly!

At the moment we are booked in the Beach Club with free dining, however due to budget may change for a moderate hotel, or even the Swan or Dolphin. Does anyone know if the dining plan changes with the grade of hotel?

I do not want to cancel so maybe going for a bit of a better deal in a different hotel is the answer!

Many Thanks

I would call WDW and ask. It depends how you got the free dining really. If you used a pin code specifically saying you get free dining with a deluxe, then when going to a mod it might change.

As for the difference... typically there is not. Call them first and let us know :)

We have booked through Virgin Holidays and are due to go on the 1st November for two weeks, when we booked they gave me free dining. We are due to stay at the beach club.
Due to finances we may have to go for a cheaper option with the hotel, but I really would like to keep the regular dining plan.

So as you mentioned maybe I should look at Saratoga springs or Old Key west
is one better than the other?
Thank you for your help..

OKW has 2 queens beds in a studio vs a queen bed and double sleeper sofa at SSR.

You might be best ring VH and seeing what your options are. If you get a mod you can to upgrade the DDP to regular.

FYI Swan and Dolphin don't have the DDP as they are not owned by Disney.

Unfortunately VH do not pass on the 42% discount thats available at OKW & SSR.
Using a travel agent you are tied to what they can offer you, not what you want, all you can do is ring and discuss it with them.

Even with one tour operator it pays to play with the figures.

Last year we wanted DXDP for the shows and signatures we wanted to do coupled with the poor exchange rate. At a moderate we got free QSDP (which doesn't do anything forus) and had to pay in full for dxdp but this still worked out much cheaper than going to a deluxe with free ddp and upgrading to dxdp.

This year's trip we want ddp and priced up moderate with free qsdp upgraded to ddp or deluxe with free ddp. We can stay at AKL for only £100 total for the four of us more than staying at a moderate.

How about looking at prices of WL and AKL?

Still Deluxe level resorts, but they are usually priced between the other Deluxes and Mods, as they aren't as handy to parks as the other deluxes.

We're staying at POFQ and so get the quick service dining plan included in the free dining offer. However, we've upgraded to the regular dining plan...its cost us £325 to upgrade, 2 adults for 18 nights

Thank you everyone I will have to work out the nest way forward for us.

Could someone just clarify if I have the free dining plan and say it was quick service can I pay to upgrade to other dining plans?

I have booked all this through Virgin so am not sure.

Many Thanks

if you have a UK package with free QSDP you can either pay extra to upgrade to ddp or lose your freebie altogether (as we did last year) and pay for dxdp in full - it's a case of crunching the numbers and seeing how it pans out.

Does anybody know when the free dining offers usually come out?

We are potentially looking at booking September / October 2012 but would like the free dining again.
