Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

You were right when you said the businesses NEED people to come down. The beaches are empty, and BP is pulling the clean up crews off the beaches(they say they aren't needed now because the well is capped) and laying them off. They have also laid off most of the workers they hired for the Vessels of Opportunity. BP calms the same about the oil out in the Gulf, so the VOO is not needed. The sad part about this is those working the VOO and cleaning up the beaches are a lot of the people who have lost their jobs because of the oil spill, like fishermen and shrimpers. The waters are still closed to fishing so these people are really going to be hurting.

You are so right, Dana! It looked so lonely, especially when you know that it's peak season, and the beaches are usually packed full of people.

I feel so bad for the people who are hurting financially because of all this. To have your income just snatched away so quickly has to be so stressful. :sad2:

Day 4---Magic Kingdom

After our easy, relaxing day and evening before, we were up and ready the next morning. We were out of the room by 8:20 for a 9 o’clock MK opening. For those of you who’ve read my TRs, you know that leaving 40 minutes before opening is a BIG thing for us!

There was even time to stop for coffee! :thumbsup2

We arrived at Magic Kingdom right at 9 a.m., and walked in with a destination in mind. Imagine my surprise when we stopped for a character greeting that we normally pass up at this stage of my kids’ lives. BUT, it was someone that we’ve never seen in person, and there was no line! We screeched to a halt to visit with

After autographs and pictures, we walked straight toward Fantasyland, by way of the castle. Since the park had only been open 5 or so minutes, the hub area was still pretty deserted.

IMG_1289.jpg

As soon as we made our way through the castle, we walked right to Peter Pan. It was 9:15 a.m., and the posted wait time was 15 minutes. We got in line---1st ride of the day! :woohoo:

IMG_1291.jpg

After our flight over London, we took a boat ride around the world-a small world, that is. ;)

Did you know that in all of the hundreds of “children” in IASW, there are only two who represent the United States? Here’s one-

IMG_1304.jpg

If you’re wondering, the other is an Indian. Both are only seen in the final scene (the white room)!

After leaving IASW, we –rather, some of us who don’t mind spinning around-rode the Carousel. BTW, that would only include people under the age of 40 for this one! TRANSLATE---Elizabeth, Rachel, and Reid!

We caught the next Mickey’s Philharmagic. I LOVE this! :goodvibes It may be one of my favorite things at Magic Kingdom. I never get tired of seeing it.

When we finished, it was just 10:15 a.m.! We had a breakfast reservation at Chef Mickey’s for 10:45, so we needed to make our way to the front of the park. Before we walked very far, we saw these folks-

IMG_1311.jpg

It was decided that Kevin would walk to Space Mountain and grab fastpasses for us, and the kids and I would walk on to the monorail platform. As we got to Main Street, we noticed that it was starting to look stormy, and as we walked through the exit, the raindrops began to fall. We made a run for the monorail station and got there just as the bottom fell out!

***Continued in next post

Kevin however was not so lucky! :sad2: He got caught in the heaviest part of the storm, so he called me and told me to go on without him and get us checked in for our ADR. He would catch up with us. He didn’t have to wait long, because the shower stopped just as quickly as it had sprung up. He stopped on his way out to watch a show and take a few pictures.

We arrived at Chef Mickey’s and got checked in for our breakfast.

IMG_1335.jpg

Kevin caught up with us just as our buzzer buzzed! :thumbsup2

We were seated and began to send the kids after their plates. It wasn’t long until we had company. First off was Mickey-

Then, Goofy came along-

Before I could even get my plate, Minnie arrived-

IMG_1322.jpg

There was finally a break, and I managed to get to the food line and fix my first plate. YUM!

IMG_1328.jpg

Donald came over next-

IMG_1329.jpg

Followed by Pluto-

IMG_1332.jpg

Shortly after that, a celebration cupcake arrived since our server had noticed mine and Kevin’s anniversary buttons.

IMG_1331.jpg

Goofy noticed and had to come over and tease us some!

IMG_1330.jpg

By the time we were finished, it was almost noon. We were stuffed with Mickey waffles and scrambled eggs! We’d eaten dinner here years ago, and weren’t too impressed with the food selections. Of course, the characters here are the best, so I had decided to try it out for breakfast during this trip. I have to say that we all really loved it! :) There were lots of different foods---eggs, egg casseroles, meats, fresh fruits, pancakes, and of course, our beloved Mickey waffles! We will definitely do breakfast there again!

UP NEXT: Back to MK to get wet again!

Great updates, Michelle. But two questions: 1) No Dumbo?????? 2) how come you aren't in any of the character pictures?

I'm with you. Mickey's Philharmagic is probably my favorite thing at the Magic Kingdom...just love it. I'm glad you enjoyed Chef Mickey's breakfast. We were very disappointed the last time we went for dinner in 2004 and haven't gone back since. Perhaps it is time to give breakfast another try (although it is very hard for me to give up Pooh and Tiigger and puffed french toast).

I never knew that about IASW only having two dolls that represent the United States. Very cool trivia tidbit! :thumbsup2

Those characters were coming fast and furious at Chef Mickey's! So cute that Goofy came over to tease you! We felt the same way about dinner there, so I like that you enjoyed breakfast so much more!

Looks like a wonderful time at the beach minus the oil spill! It really is terrible, isn't it?! The BP shirts are too funny! I love mini-golf!! Have you ever tried one of the MGs in Disney? Those are amazing! Best ones by far!
Yay, for making rope drop! Having a teenager, I know how hard that can be. What a great morning! I love the idea of a Chef Mickey's brunch after a MK morning! I'm going to go check for an ADR now!:thumbsup2

The Chief Mickey pictures are great. DH and I had breakfast there in June and it was the best way to start a Disney morning with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy.

Great character pics!
I saw somewhere about there only being two dolls from the US in IASM... oh, I think I read it in the Kingdom Keepers books. I found it very interesting
We've never done CM for breakfast... only dinner. I've been wanting to do CM for breakfast for a while now. Maybe next trip? Haha

Another Bama fan joining in. I'm really enjoying your report. I keep thinking about writing my own but never get up the nerve to start.

Another awesome update!

The chef mickey's pictures turned out really well and the breakfast looks really good.

We might have to consider this one for a future trip:goodvibes

I love your MK update! I can't believe you saw Pinocchio. I don't think I have even seen him in the parks in any of my trips. I'll have to pay more attention next time and look for him.

Chef Mickey looks great for breakfast. I am thinking next trip to make later adr's around 10:45 so that is more of a brunch instead of making those 8am adrs like last time. It seems no one is too hungry at 8am after just waking up. It seemed to work our great for you, you got a little park time and you still got to do the breakfast. I don't know if your CM photo of the entrance is just decieving but it looks so empty!

I love Kevin's shirt - it would suit another Grumpy person that I know.....

Other than Kevin getting caught in the downpour, it sounds like you guys had a great morning! Peter Pan and Philharmagic are two of my very favorite attractions! So many people have great experiences at CM, we've eaten there twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner and both times were underwhelmed by the character interaction, so we've never gone back. May have to give it another try.

What a great morning! I agree that Philharmagic is one of my absolute favorites, I could watch it over and over!!

I'm not a big buffet fan but breakfast at CM's is on my someday list (partly because my kids once saw pictures of it and learned they could have brownies and gummy bears for breakfast :rotfl:)

I've never been good at improv (a skill I think would be necessary to be a character, especially a face character) but if I was, I would want to be a stepsister...they crack me up!!

What a good idea to hit Fantasyland and then go to breakfast. You got a lot done before you left to eat. I'm not sure we could swing that - Scott gets cranky if he doesn't get fed first thing in the morning. But maybe he could eat a granola bar to tide him over or something. I may have to try this out.:thumbsup2

It sounds like you had the perfect MK morning! :cloud9: Minus Kevin getting stuck in the storm!

And I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the CM breakfast. If you remember, we weren't impressed with dinner there, either in January. For some reason though, Miguel wants to go back. :confused3 It sounds like breakfast would be the time to go!

Thanks for the pics/update about your beach trip! It sounds like you made the best of it and had a really good time. :goodvibes

Great MK update! Woo hoo for seeing Pinnochio! :woohoo:

I love your idea of a late breakfast! I had pretty much decided that on our next trip we would do late breakfasts and early dinners. We can do brought-from-home snacks the rest of the time. Saves time AND money! :thumbsup2

Great updates! Cool you got to see Pinocchio. I don't know if we've ever seen him. Makes me think of the Disney Full House episode because he shows up at Michelle's tea party. :rolleyes1:rotfl:

I never knew that either about only 2 dolls in IASW that represent the US. Very interesting!

Chef Mickey's looks like a lot of fun. We need to go there sometime.

Great updates, Michelle. But two questions: 1) No Dumbo?????? 2) how come you aren't in any of the character pictures?

Thanks, Kathy! Yes, no Dumbo---I know it's a classic, but it's one of those things of "Been there, done that---Not willing to wait again for it"! :rotfl:

I realized I wasn't in any of those breakfast pics when I started going through my pictures! We were seated at a table that had a booth seat against a wall, and the other side had chairs. Well, I slid across the booth seat first and Elizabeth sat with me on the outside edge. Across from her (in the chairs) were Rachel, Reid in the middle, and Kevin across from me. I guess I just never slid out to get in a picture!

I never knew that about IASW only having two dolls that represent the United States. Very cool trivia tidbit! :thumbsup2

I thought that was pretty interesting, too! :thumbsup2

Have you ever tried one of the MGs in Disney? Those are amazing! Best ones by far!

I love the idea of a Chef Mickey's brunch after a MK morning! I'm going to go check for an ADR now!:thumbsup2

We have never played MG at Disney, but some of the pictures I've seen look like they have great courses. We'll have to try it some trip.

I love a brunch breakfast while I'm at Disney----Hit the park for some early morning fun, and then hop over and enjoy your meal! :thumbsup2

The Chief Mickey pictures are great. DH and I had breakfast there in June and it was the best way to start a Disney morning with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy.

Thanks! :) I agree that the characters at CM are the best!

Yes, Sara---the next trip! ;) We really liked the breakfast (of course you know my fave breakfast is at 'Ohana---but that's just because I'm lazy and like to sit and have my food all brought to me! :rotfl: )

I've seen the Kingdom Keepers books, but haven't read any. Have you read many of them?

Another Bama fan joining in. I'm really enjoying your report. I keep thinking about writing my own but never get up the nerve to start.

:welcome: to another BAMA fan! Thanks for reading my report!

You should write one---I only wrote my first one this past January after our NYE trip. I've gotten to know so many great people on the DIS here on the trip reports board! :thumbsup2

Another awesome update!

The chef mickey's pictures turned out really well and the breakfast looks really good.

Thanks! :) Give CMs a try---We really like the breakfast!

The late breakfast time works best for us, simply because I have teenagers who like to sleep late, plus they are never hungry when they first wake up. Later in our trip I made the mistake of booking a 8 a.m. ADR, and man, they fussed the entire way as we walked from BC over to Epcot that morning!

I know from that picture, CMs does look empty, but it wasn't. I think what it was is that I took that picture as we were leaving, and it was almost noon, so there probably weren't many people there at that time. :thumbsup2

I love Kevin's shirt - it would suit another Grumpy person that I know......

:rolleyes1 Mmmmhhhhhh..........Whoever could you be referring to? :rotfl:

I'm not a big buffet fan but breakfast at CM's is on my someday list (partly because my kids once saw pictures of it and learned they could have brownies and gummy bears for breakfast :rotfl:)

Would you believe that no one in my family even wandered over toward the candy bar, so they never discovered those little treats!

What a good idea to hit Fantasyland and then go to breakfast. You got a lot done before you left to eat. I'm not sure we could swing that - Scott gets cranky if he doesn't get fed first thing in the morning. But maybe he could eat a granola bar to tide him over or something. Scott sounds like Kevin! It's usually not too long, until Kevin's claiming that he's getting the shakes---TRUST ME-the man does not have any blood sugar problems! :rotfl: I tell him to eat a cereal bar!

I really do like doing the late breakfast ADRs. Like you said, it gives you time to get to the park and hit a few big things before the crowds move in, and then you get to leave and sit, eat, and cool off for a while. :thumbsup2
