Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

i'm thinking about it, if for no other reason than to spy on my son! :lmao: It seems as though his status has recently changed, and there was a cute little blond girl at his game tonight who waited to see him afterwards........ :scared1: I don't think i'm ready for this!

do it do it do it!!!

I would be the same way, up worrying instead of sleeping. I hope it doesn't cost too much.... on pins and needles. :sad2:
It wasn't too hard to get to sleep to begin with, but when I woke up a few hours later, I couldn't get back to sleep! :headache:

However, my family has suffered major loss of family members and it has made us realize that spending time together as a family and having those quality moments is much more important than anything else that might come up :goodvibes

Very well said---When it's all said and done, what matters most is family!:goodvibes

Oh, I would have been stressing big time over that AC and wouldn't have slept eitiher. Cars are such a major expense, even more so after you buy them.
You would be correct to say that I was stressing big time. :upsidedow

Omg I hope that the AC just magically worked when you got up in the morning!! DH and i always drive to disney and if we didnt have the AC going we would die... it is hard enough sitting for how many hours in a car but to not be comfortable too :sad2:!!!
That would have been great if it had................. :sad2:

At least it didn't give out that Friday, until it was dark, so the temps were cooler.

You left us hanging about the AC, now we will be worried until the next update.:surfweb:

Don't worry! You know we get to Disney---it's just either all hot and yucky, or cool and poorer!

We usually cut through Birmingham over to Atlanta and then down. We might try driving your way next time since Atlanta is not a fun city to drive through. Hope the AC got fixed without too many issues or too much money involved.

We've gone that way, too. We've also driven to Montgomery, and then headed east toward Auburn, before crossing over into GA. (Of course, being TIDE fans, we don't really enjoy that route! ;) Plus I don't really enjoy all those little state highways.) For me, I like the I 65 route to Montgomery, and the 231 to Dothan route best.:thumbsup2

Lord have mercy, you have me worried to death about the AC. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this has a happy ending.

Of course there's a happy ending...............We get to Disney World! :)

I do the same thing. I am concerned until I get an answer. Glad to hear the room was nice. Now about that AC......
Too bad I couldn't appreciate the room for all my worrying, but that's just how I am. :upsidedow

Oh my!! I can sympathize with traveling with no A/C (Oregon to Florida in August 1994). I hope it was just a temporary thing and you didn't have to fork out any money

Oh, my goodness, you made it from Oregon to Fl in August, with no AC? :scared1: That had to be horrible. I will not complain anymore!

Oh no! I hope it was an easy fix! I hate driving with the windows down, that would have had me in a very cranky mood I'm afraid......

Thanks, Michelle. I hate riding with the windows down, too. I can't stand the roar. AND, I'm afraid, that I probably was very cranky!

Sleeping until 11-I would be doing a major happy dance.
11? Try 8 or 8:30 for me! I remember being a teenager and being able to sleep until noon. Those days are over---I couldn't do it if I wanted to!
Ugh, hope the AC fixed itself! :lmao: I hate being in a car when it's hot and there's no AC!

At least your hotel sounds nice! :cool1:
I had drifted off to sleep hoping it was just a crazy fluke, and that the AC would be working in the morning, with no problems.

Unfortunately, that was just a dream...............................

That stinks about the AC!
Problems like that are the worst when you're on your way to Disney...

You're so right, Sara. Problems like that are never good, but especially when you're over 500 miles from home on a road trip. :sad2:

Oh goodness Michelle, I am so sorry about the AC! I would've felt exactly the same way as you and have been, in fact, since our house AC broke a couple of weeks ago. I hope it ends up being a quick, cheap fix so you weren't worried too long.:goodvibes

That hotel sounds really neat!

Thanks, Stacy. AC for the car is nothing like AC for your house....YIKES! That wasn't what you wanted to pay for when you're headed out to Disney in a few weeks, is it?

Like everyone else, I hope the car a/c problem got fixed quickly and not with too much money out of your pocket!:goodvibes

Thanks! :)

Oh, I would have been a nervous wreck about the AC and unable to fall asleep, too! I hope it just needed some freon, and it wasn't too expensive!

I was so tired, falling asleep wasn't the problem---it was staying asleep. Whenever I would wake up, I would start thinking about it all over. :sad2:

Yikes on the AC. It's always a bummer to have something unexpected come up on a road trip. I hope it is nothing major. :sad2:

You know in our 20 years of marriage, I think this was the first time something like this has happened to us during a trip. :)

LOVE the souvenirs!! I bought the same shirt as Elizabeth!! Now your familt can all coordinate!! :thumbsup2 Love your mug, too!! I buy one every trip--I was sooo excited with the one I bought this time--I'd never seen one like it!!

Oh no!! I hope the AC is ok! I would have been stressing, too!!

Stressing is an understatement! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to see your new mug!:)

so happy to hear you guys had great timing! Sorry about the a/c though! That's a bummer! glad to hear the hotel room was nice though! hopefully your a/c doesn't keep your mind occupied for too much longer! Can't wait to hear more!

Oh, Keala, you don't know me very well, if you think that AC issue didn't keep my mind occupied all night long! :upsidedow

I'm not an everyday worrier, but I do stress out majorly over certain situations!

Ugh that's definitely not the greatest start to a vacation. Hopefully the AC was ok and didn't cost a fortune to fix. Looking forward to hearing more

You are so right! :thumbsup2 All the excitement of being on our way to Disney was just sort of zapped right then and replaced by worry!

HUH....WHAT?!?!?!? YOu started your TR and I have missed the announcement :scared1: ACK!!!

Going to catch up!!

Well thankfully you haven't gotten too far but lots of chit-chat, my goodness!

Your flowers are beautiful! My grandmother loved those bushes so I always think of her when I see them. I have also heard that their color is determined by the acidity of the soil.

I love the t-shirts everyone picked out, very cool. I wish I had seen those magnets! I love magnets like those...maybe I will have to commission a Dis-friend to pick some up for me...Jackie? MeMom? Who else has vacations coming up soon?

Oh no to the AC! The first time I tried turning mine on this year, I found it was broken. Luckily we were still under warranty so I didn't have to pay for it. Hoping it's not too expensive of a fix and doesn't slow you down too much!

It's ok, Katie. Like you said, you really only missed chit-chat. I've got to get busy! ;)

That was great that your car was still under warranty---Our van is five years old, and we bought it used, so no such luck for us! :headache:

Oh no Michelle, what a fiasco! I'm hoping you just need a freon charge or something cheap like that (do they even do that anymore?). How stressful!

I hope your a/c fixes itself or what ever is wrong is something simple - not a good way to start off your vacation.

I love your mug! We're always drinking out of Disney mugs at our house. Then of course there are regular glasses for when normal people come over.
Those t-shirts are too cute and the price isn't bad at all. I'll be on the look out for those. Just don't know what color I want.
Yikes about the AC! I would of been freaking out, too. Hope it gets fixed quickly and you can be on your way to your happy place!

Yes, Rebecca---they still do that. ;) I was pretty stessed out throughout the night.

Definitely not a good way to start a vacation! :sad2:

HA-- We have the old plastic cups for us. At least once a week, we do use our Disney cups. Even though I love them, I hate having to hand wash them, since you shouldn't put that acrylic (sp?) stuff in the dishwasher.

We eventually found our way to the happy place! ;)

Oh my goodness, it was the AC that you eluded too. I sure hope you were able to get it fixed without costing too much money.

Joining in! I hope the AC wasn't terribly broken! YIKES!

Oh, yes, it was the air conditioner! It was horrible, Stephanie! I just couldn't believe this was happening at the beginning of our trip. :sad2:

Joining in! I hope the AC wasn't terribly broken! YIKES!

:wave2: and :welcome: to my trip report! I'm glad you're joining in---the more, the merrier!

I'm about to post an update about the AC! :thumbsup2

The REAL Day 1---Saturday, May 22

After a sleepless night, we were up by 7:45 a.m. (I tried to let everyone sleep, because it had been a late night, not to mention we were still on central time.) We ate breakfast in the hotel (it was FREE!). :thumbsup2 I probably drove Kevin crazy during breakfast because I kept asking him questions about the AC. I had lots of “What if” questions. By the time we finished up and got our bags back to the van, it was almost 9 a.m., and it was already HOT!

Kevin had called his dad and brother and talked to them about the van’s air conditioner, so he said we needed to find an AutoZone or something similar to that. He said he was going to try to buy some Freon and hope that the leak was small enough that what he put in, would not leak out. We found a store not far from the hotel, and pulled in the parking lot. Kevin parked us in the shade, and he went in and found what he needed. He came out and proceeded to “gas” up the A/C. We headed back toward the interstate, and sure enough, there was cold air coming out of the A/C. YAY! :yay: Kevin said the stuff he had bought had something in it that would seal leaks too, so we crossed our fingers and hoped for the best.

Throughout the entire morning, I was so paranoid about the air conditioner. I kept imagining that the air didn’t feel cold anymore, and I would say, “Does that still feel cold?” Kevin finally got to where he was rolling his eyes, and saying, “YES---Quit worrying!”

Before getting on the toll road, we grabbed a bite of lunch. We ordered it to go, and ate in the car. I wasn't that hungry, too excited, so I didn't eat anything. I drove so Kevin could eat his lunch. Plus, I couldn’t wait to get there, and to be honest--I think I drive faster than he does! :rotfl: Pretty soon, we saw that sight that every DISer here loves!

It was a little after 1 p.m. when we pulled into the Beach Club. I was stopped at the guard station, and after telling him that we were checking in that day and giving him our name, he gave us our parking permit.

IMG_1676.jpg

I had already checked in online, so after being greeted at the door, I was escorted to the online check-in desk. I had not put in any special requests as far as room location, secretly hoping for some sort of upgrade. HA! You think I would learn my lesson---There’s only been one other time I’ve not put in special requests for room location (a two night stay at POR in May 2009)--- and each time, then and now, I was disappointed with the location of the room we were assigned.

continued in next post

We were given room # 1532---first floor, which I had not initially wanted, but I actually came to appreciate being on the first floor, and not having to wait for an elevator. We set out to find our room, and we walked, and walked, and walked! It seemed as if we made a half dozen turns, and went down four or five different hallways. Finally, when we reached the end of a hall, we were there!

IMG_1015.jpg

We went in to check out our room and take some pics before anyone touched anything! HA

A view of the room from the door:

This little beauty was waiting for us on one of the beds:

Another view, this time from the patio door, looking toward the room door:

We had stayed at Yacht Club during Elizabeth’s 16th birthday trip the past New Year’s Eve, so the room layout /floor plan didn’t come as much of a surprise. The rooms are laid out identically, just a different bed headboard, comforter, and wallpaper.

After finishing up my pictures, I realized that somebody in my family was being a smarty-pants! :rotfl:

IMG_1018.jpg

Bell services called right after that to say they were bringing our luggage to our room, so we sat down, made some phone calls, and waited. After they had delivered our luggage, I decided to unpack right then. I knew everyone would be tired when we returned to the hotel that night, so I wanted to have it already finished.

Finally we were finished and ready to walk over to EPCOT! :woohoo:

Michelle, I'm so glad that the AC was not serious and just needed the freeon. I'd end up being like you too...still a little worried and always asking if everything was okay. The room is very pretty (the BC and the AKL are the only two deluxes that we will consider doing a split stay with CSR with in the future).

Whew! Glad the A/C situation was easily fixable! I cannot imagine having to drive without in that awful FL heat.

LOVE your BC room!!! I'm trying to decide where to stay for our next trip and YC/BC are on my short list.
