Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

Awww, what a great update! CP pictures always make me feel so warm and fuzzy! I just love Pooh and his pals! :cloud9: And what a sweet anniversary card!

You got some beautiful shots while waiting to check in! Those rose pictures are breathtaking! :love:And I agree, that picture Rachel took is wonderful! Is she interested in photography as a hobby, or as a career someday?

Looks like I'm late to the party, but I have read everything today (slow day at work, shhhh...:ssst:) and I wanted to comment on what a lovely family you have. I cannot wait to read more!

Thanks so much! :) Glad you're reading.

Aww, that is so cute about the little boy and your son talking about his video game/Pokemon.

Looks like a great night at CP. We have never eaten there but I bet it's a lot of fun. Can't wait to hear more about the MK!

Seems like Pokemon is a thread of common unity among 7-9 year old boys!

We enjoyed the dinner at CP---We knew we liked the breakfast, but thought it would be fun to try the dinner. We weren't disappointed. :thumbsup2

Rachel's CP/flower pic is good! I like it
We had dinner at CP last summer, they're buffet is one of my favorites. Plus, I love the Winnie the Pooh characters(:

Thanks, Sara! You and Rachel are the same age---She'll be heading into high school (9th grade) this fall.

I love all the Pooh characters, too! :goodvibes

Justin actually skipped 7th grade math, so he took Alg I last year as an 8th grader. He had no problems with it at all, finished the year with a 97% - I think you'll be surprised at how well your 8th graders will do, assuming they are good in math of course........

Great update - I love CP for breakfast or dinner. Pooh and friends are always so much fun!

I think you may be right about Rachel's eye for photography, that was a very nice shot she took :thumbsup2

I'm not worried about them doing well---I taught all the same kids 6th grade math, so I know what they're capable of doing. I just don't see the point of doing it. If we had a typical 7 period day in the high school, I could understand wanting your 8th grader to get Alg. I done that year---That would leave their four HS years to get Geometry, Alg. II, Pre-Cal, and finally Calculus. But since our HS is on a block system, (like a college---they have four 90 minute classes a day for one semester-Then they're finished and get a whole new set the next semester. Did I make any sense? :confused3

Thanks for the compliment on Rachel's photography skills. You always take such great pictures so that means a lot! :)

It was a high school course and I really feel bad for kids going into high school with bad grades.

Great update! Love the pics at MK! We used to do CP every trips but we've skipped it the last couple of trips.

The good thing is that we give our kids the option of repeating the course in 9th grade, no matter what their grade is in 8th grade (Being private, we can do that.). Elizabeth actually took the course in 8th grade and had a 92. At that time, our grading scale had a 92 as a B. We changed to a standard 10 point scale the next year, so I had her retake it. She wound up with a 93, which under the new scale was an A. We'll take it for the HS transcript. :thumbsup2

I took Algebra 1 last year in 8th grade (my teacher was HARD), and now this year I'm doing Geometry with the 10th graders. I'm not sure if I like being a year ahead of a lot of other students in my grade or not...

Being on the HS block system, Elizabeth still took Geometry in her 9th grade. She took Alg. I the fall semester, then Geometry the spring semester of her 9th grade year. She finished Alg. II this past year in 10th grade. This coming 11th grade year, she'll have Pre-Cal, and that will finish her required 4 math credits. But she'll still have her senior year to take Calculus, if she wants. :)

Time to catch up on what I’ve missed lately.

At least you came to accept that you would not be at the parks as early as would have liked. It sounds like it was a great day at AK. That is so funny how the woman clinged to Kevin like that. It reminds me of Bryan. He swore that all of EE was in the dark until this past trip. He realized he had been riding it with his eyes closed. LOL…Yes, I was certain you were going to show me a pic of animals together. LOL…It must have been mating week a the parks that week. We saw animals mating all over the place.

:rotfl: I had to laugh at how your husband thought EE was all in the dark, well, mainly WHY he thought it was all in the dark!

Great update! I love the old Main Street pic you have and how you compared it to now! I wish I had some of my old Disney pictures from when I went with my family, but we were never very good about taking care of pictures. :(

I really like Rachel's shot of CP with the flowers, very pretty! I would never have thought of that!

Thanks! :) I actually have one of the girls ( and later, the three kids) walking down Main St. from every year we've been to Disney.

Rachel does have a talent for coming up with some interesting shots. She just frames up pictures in such an interesting way. She has a natural talent for that. :goodvibes

great update michelle!! love all the pics of your arrival at MK...especially that flash back and flash forward pic of the girls! too cute! Can't wait to see your PP pics! And you're right, Rachel does have an eye for photography...that's a great pic! Loving all the pics from CP...we didn't have dinner there...how was the food?? Love the pics with the characters and how cute they gave you folks those little surprises for your anniversary! Can't wait to see what's up next!!

Thanks, Keala! :) I just had to throw in that picture of the girls from 9 years ago.

I really think Rachel has some talent for photography. Of course, I'm a little biased. ;)

Dinner at CP was good----not great---but good. There was a lot of variety, so all my picky eaters could find something they liked. :thumbsup2

Loving your report so far.

I also love your avatar. Where did you find it? I graduated from Alabama in 91 and then again in 93. And Roll Tide were some of the first words we taught my DS.

Looking forward to the rest of your report.

Love those pictures of your girls walking down Main St. together!

I wish I'd thought to take a picture of our receipts! I saved them to do the comparison, too, only all of them have $0s! :scared1: It was crazy, but I know if we'd paid OOP for all those meals that we'd have spent more than we did on the DDP.

I love that anniversary card and the pic of you guys holding it up!

I  Pooh!

Thanks! :) I love those pictures, too!

I didn't get each receipt, because some of ours showed $0, too. I wrote down each amount in my notebook. What we ate would have cost us about $250 more than we paid for the DDP. So I guess we did ok. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Courtney! I agree that the characters at CP just make you feel happy. They're just all so sweet. :goodvibes

Thanks about the pictures, but I cannot take credit for hardly any of those. (I did take the one of the castle.) Kevin and Rachel took the ones of the roses---I'm not even sure who took which one.

I'm not sure about the photography thing and Rachel. She's developed quite an interest in it recently and all the compliments we've been giving her, has made her start thinking about a career in it. Of course, she's only 14, entering high school in the fall, so she has lots of time to change her mind! :)

Thanks! :welcome: to a new reader, and especially one who's a BAMA fan! :woohoo:

I got my avatar from someone else here on the DIS 3-4 years ago. I love that those were some of your DS's first words! :thumbsup2

A friend of mine, and co-teacher, graduated with her undergrad in '92 and her masters in '93--English Education. Do you live in Alabama now or are you an out of state Tide fan?

I live in Nashville now. But I have alot of family in Alabama, so we visit often. My mom who went to WDW for her first time with us last year, lives outside of Tuscaloosa. My undergrad is in Engineering and a Master's in Human Resources, but I'm a stay at home mom now...and love it.

Ok, I gotcha now! We have a 6 period day and most courses last the entire school year. One of Justin's periods will be athletics, which just leaves him with 5 periods for each school year to get in all of the required classes - that is why we wanted him to get a few HS credits in Jr. High. The way you guys do it, you're right, there really is no need to work ahead.

What great pictures from your MK evening! I can't believe how much the kids change in nine years! The card and Mickey confetti are super cute -- what a nice surprise!

the picture of Pooh hugging Reid is SO cute! That silly old bear is my favorite too :lovestruc

I love your pictures of the flowers outside of CP, good job soaking it all in!! :thumbsup2

Cute anniversary surprises :goodvibes

Well, I love Nashville! Of course, I'm an AL girl at heart, so I'm glad to be home again.

I am headed to Tuscaloosa on Monday---taking 10 girls for cheer camp at the university----will be in the dorm with them through Thursday!

My DH works in HR---He is a HR manager for a company based out of Michigan, with a facility here where we live.

I stayed home with my DDs when they were small (we actually lived in TN then!). I wouldn't trade that time for anything. It's a wonderful thing if you're able to do it. :)

I agree with Justin's schedule that it makes sense for him to work ahead and get some HS credits while he was in middle school. :thumbsup2

For our students, it's just not necessary. Elizabeth is taking Pre-Cal this year (her junior year) and that will be her 4th math credit (with 4 being required for graduation). If she want to take Calculus, she'll still be able to her senior year. (But, she won't be able to come to me for help! Pre cal---just a little above my math capabilities! )

They grew up over those nine years. In that first picture, they're just little girls, still happy to wear what clothes mommy laid out for the day, eager to get there when the rope drops! In the last picture, they're teenaged girls, who'll be leaving for college before I blink, who roll their eyes and say, "Mother!", when I suggest any clothing item, and who would rather sleep until noon than get to Disney in the morning!

Yes....times change!

Thanks, Katie! :)

I know you love Pooh! I think I love him because he's a "chubby little cubby..." I have a special affinity for anyone who has a constant battle with weight!

I live in Nashville now.

Maybe you can join us at a Nashville DIS meet sometime. :)

I thought you were coming with us??? :cool1:

I guess you didn't find a :cheer2: replacement.
Shucks!

By the way, shocker is over on the new trip report blaming you for him being on the second page. :rolleyes1

Just thought you'd like to know, in case you were up for some friendly sparring before you went to cheer.
(Call me 'instigator'.) ;)

Picture003.jpg

Very cute.

This will be Brooklynn and Bella in just a few years.

Totes loving your TR!!!!

The boardwalk all lit up at night is so gorgeous... we are currently on the WL for their and BLT this december!

Im shocked that illuminations is your least fave! I love love love it! I would say fantasmic is my least favorite.. and wishes is hands down the best!

Great update, Michelle. Rachel definitely looks to have a talent in photography; nice that Reid found a friend to talk about Pokemon with. I love the photos at CP (we've never done dinner, but we NEVER miss breakfast).

Shucks!

No such replacement has been found. My camp fee has been paid by the school, so I guess I should just report for duty Monday morning! :cheer2:

I'm always up for some friendly sparring! ;) Don't know though, if I'm swift enough to keep up with Shocker.

Very cute.

This will be Brooklynn and Bella in just a few years.

Awwwww, yes it will be. You know exactly how quickly it goes by, don't you? :)
