Just wanted to say hi y'all!

I'm bushed and I'm heading for bed...Joe is out of town and Christmas has snuck up on me! :earseek: :crazy2: :faint:

Ya know I got to thinking about the whole baby thing and remembered there's birds involved too! I'm not exactly sure were they fit in! :daisy:

NIGHT DDAers! :flower:

That picture is TOO funny, Baloo! Perfect for Amy.

Not certain what time you are leaving today, but:

HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP!!

see you when I get back on the 27th.

I had 5 recitals last night. Again, they all played beautifully. Four today/tonight. I am working on the programs right now. I ought to get PhotoImpact to try to do some amazing program covers for next Spring's recitals... hmmmmmmm :scratchin

After I am done working tonight I have to drive to Richmond to get younger DD from college. I was supposed to go in the a.m. but the weatherman is calling for a "wintry mix" storm and I don't want to be driving in that. I have a recital at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon so I would have a very small window of time to get back here. So, I probably won't post on here until tomorrow morning at the earliest. I wish there was something like "The Amazing Race" on TV tonight so y'all wouldn't post very much. :rotfl:

Quick question for those of you around now:

Do you prefer trip reports where each day is a thread or one continuous thread with updates?

Just curious, as I plan on starting soon :goodvibes

1190

All in one thread most definitely - otherwise they get all mixed up on the trip report as people post in between and people read them and post to bring them to the top...

Which reminds me... I should start writing mine :rolleyes1

I learned a great trick that worked like a charm! Monday night of our trip it POURED while we were watching Spectromagic but Terra didn't want to leave. Someone on another group gave tips on drying out shoes. I really didn't think it would work, but the next morning my sneakers were good to go....

Take a white hotel towl and stuff one end into each shoe. Shove the corner all the way down to the toe. The next morning, the towel was wet and my sneakers were dry.

It works with kitchen paper towel too - I picked that tip up from another thread here on the dis :goodvibes

Hope you are feeling better & have a wonderful trip!

But I definitely got a migraine this afternoon... we're talking puking and all (sorry, no filtering. too tired).

If I have time I'll at least TAKE pictures, otherwise you'll have to see them later.

If I'm not back on, see you next week! :wave2:

Wow that's great news!

This is not really what you were asking for, but this is so easy & the cookies are yummy! My boys love these.

Funfetti Cookies

1 package of yellow cake mix
1/3 cup of oil
2 eggs
1 can of frosting with sprinkles

Mix cake mix, oil, & eggs, stir by hand. Add candy sprinkles. Shape into 1 inch balls & place on cookie sheet. I use a glass bottom dipped in sugar to flaten the cookies. Bake at 375 degrees. Let cool & add frosting & candy sprinkles.

I found this recipe in a Bake-off cookbook a few years ago. This is my kind of cookie making :rotfl:

Amy,
Do you have an easy sugar cookie recipe. I cant find mine.

Cut-Out Cookies
1 cup butter (softened)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tab cold water
1 teas vanilla
1 teas baking powder
1 teas salt
3 cups flour

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, water, and vanilla, and blend well. Sift together the baking powder, salt, and one cup flour. Combine the sifted mixture with the first ingredients and beat well. Add the final two cups of flour a little at a time, until well mixed.

I put the dough in a gallon size ziplock bag and pat as thin as possible. Refrigerate overnight or for at least four hours. This dough rolls out best cold. I break off a piece at a time...I really recommend my ziplock bag method!

Preheat over to 375. Roll dough to about 1/4 thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets for 6-8 minutes. Remove cookie sheet from overn and allow cookies to cool slightly before moving to paper towels.

When cook, frost and decorate. We frost with dry fondant and sugar sprinkles.

Other tips:
1. Roll out dough in small amounts and keep dough chilled between batches.
2. Use as little flour as possible when rolling out cookies, because too much flour will make the cookies tough and dry.
3. The thickness of the cookies will determine how long they need to bake. Watch carefully and bake until set, but not brown.
4. These cookies freeze well. After frosting has set, layer carefully between sheets of wax paper in an airtight container.
5. Each batch yields approximately 4 dozen cookies.

Amy :)

I've got a busy day in front of me, since I didn't finish wrapping the first round of presents last night. I didn't finish the laundry either, but yay, the Linz family won! :teeth:

Baloo, cute picture. I like that one better than the Anne Geddes one.

Jennifer, hope that migraine is long gone and you have a fabulous trip. Remember, you can only do so much...your trip companions have to encourage the magic too! :goodvibes

Hope all sick kiddos are on the mend!

Steffy, I still plan on sending you ornaments! We still haven't decorated tree #2.

Rosiejo, we love Sea World too!

My Mom turns 85 on the 18th and I think she has gotten this lack of tact thing down to a science too! :goodvibes DH's Dad just turned 88 this year and he is even worse. We have decided that when you get to that age you must figure there is no need to use any control over your words.

I took care of my grandmother until she passed. I can remember sitting in the waiting area of the hospital while waiting for one of her appointments. There was a mother there holding a baby and she actually said "what a cute baby except the eyes are too big". I wanted to die right there. It is very true that people seem to lose that sense of what is appropiate and what isn't.

Oh, and Brendita, congratulations on your bonus and raise!

And, Tammi, glad your t-shirts were a success! :cool1:

Sorry, if I left anyone out...I really need to get back to "work." A whole string of lights went out on tree #2! Ack!!!! At least we don't have the ornaments on yet, and it's the strand closest to the top. What's the name of that song....I think it's the 12 pains of Christmas?!! :rotfl:

Amy :)

Jennifer and everyone else heading out soon. Have an amazing trip. You have had such a busy fall you deserve to relax and enjoy the magic. Here's some pixie dust that the weather cooperates :wizard: And a little more that everyone stays healthy for their trips. :wizard:

I thought of you when I was driving past your work yesterday, heading toward the river. We were on our way to CVS after visiting the ped. I would have stopped to see if you were there, but with a sick one, I just wanted to get home. I did try to peek in the window to see if I saw you. Couldn't see anything though. Anyway, good luck with all the last minute stuff.

Brendita - congrats on the bonus

Baloo - I love that last picture. It made for a good laugh.

Oh how quiet you all were last night.
I can't believe I'm all caught up.
Now I go to work.
I'll have 20 pages.
Just watch.

Here are the pictures from my tiedying adventure. I am so tickled that they turned out, not as good as the craft queen Deb's though. I am just happy that they don't look like a royal mess. I only left the dye on for 4 hours, because I didn't have anymore time to wait, before rinsing. These pictures were before washing. After I washed them the became a little "softer" in color.

GOod morning!

Jennifer - I hope you have an awesome trip!!

Tammi - I am so glad your shirts turned out - they look awesome!! I told you it seems hopeless when you are making them and then BOOM - they are awesome!!!

Amy - I love to wrap presents and I HATE to take laundry so there was no way I was going to accept your offer!! :goodvibes I have my own laundry to do today!

I hope all the sick kids (and adults) start to feel better!

As for losing your sense of what is appropriate as you grow older - I hate to see this thread when we are old then!! :rotfl:
