Cool. Thanks! I just read that they agree with me that royal icing sucks the moisture out of a cookie -- that's why I don't decorate cookies. I will definitely have to look into this!

I really need to look into Hanukkah cookie cutters! My Mom had some when we were little and we haven't been able to find them in YEARS!

I did find these: http://www.pinenose.com/jerecocu.html

Not sure if they are what you are looking for.

Guess what book Skunka got for Christmas?? He got Kingdom Keepers. It's a story that is set in the Magic Kingdom. He really wanted it and my dad really surprised him! I also got a good one - the Imagineers Field Guide (I think that's what it is called?!

As for weather - it has been warm! It was over 40 today. If any of you know the Rochester area of NY, that is warm for this time of year. But we both actually prefer being cold as opposed to warm. Florida in August would scare me away!!!

You'd think so, huh? Actually, it's not that hard at all. I'm losing my cravings for sweets, so I guess that's a good thing. I can still do some of the fondue (the savory kind) as long as I just use veggies for dipping. Soon, though, I'll be at my goal weight and I can start adding back some of the carbs that I've been cutting out. Whoe grains, etc. I'm looking forward to that, and it's coming sooner than I thought it would. I'm already halfway there. DH is so amazed! Me, too! It's kind of fun to pull clothes out of your closet that you haven't been able to wear for years, try them on and realize that they are too big on you. My father is gearing up to take me on a shopping trip for a new wardrobe once this is all over. He loves to shop and has great taste. I'm hoping I can convince him that Disneyland has great clothes. He's the only member of my family who also has the Disney obsessive gene.

Congratulations! That is so exciting :grouphug:

I am going on a very unexpected trip to Disney in 17 days :cool1: I have a very good mil story to tell :goodvibes My mil, her dh, bil & family have been planning a trip to Disney in Jan. I received a call today asking if I would like to go because mil's dh has decided not to go. Everything is paid for except my food! I am so excited :cheer2: Dh & the boys will stay home, so I will have a chance to view Disney in a different way. I will miss my boys not being with me, but I will get over it :) Dh is not a big Disney fan(I am working on him)but he knows I love Disney & he is very happy for me. I will also get to the chance to stay at different resorts, 3 nights at the Contemporary, 3 nights at the Boardwalk Villas, & 1 night at AKL. I am about ready to burst! I have only stayed at value resorts, so this is really a treat. Well the whole trip is, I think I am still in shock. I just had to share this with you all, oh I need to get planning! Look out Disney here I come.............

How awesome....nice to hear a nice MIL story.

I'll have to check the Kingdom Keeper book out. I want the Imagineer book.

You'd increase your post count a lot quicker if you'd respond to each of my questions individually :p

So...what's your favorite TV show?

Excellent Christmas Cookie Receipe

Christmas Cookie Ingredients:

1 cup of water
lemon juice
1 tsp baking soda
4 large eggs
1 cup of sugar
1 cup nuts
1 tsp salt
2 cups of dried fruit
1 cup of brown sugar
1 bottle Jack Daniel's Whiskey

Sample the Jack Daniel's to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the Jack Daniel's again, to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink.

Turn on the electric mixer....Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar...Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the Jack Daniel's is still OK, try another cup .just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Pick the frigging fruit off floor... Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the Jack Daniel's to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who giveshz a sheet. Check the Jack Daniel's. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. ; Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Dack Janiels and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

CHERRY MISTMAS

:rotfl2: That's my kind of baking!

Well Happy Birthday to DH! I hope you had a great night!!!

It was pretty humorous. DN came to babysit at 4:30. It was too late to catch matinee, so we went and did a little shopping, then off to see "The Producers." We got out of movie at 9:00 and DH got to choose his birthday dinner. Steak 'N Shake it was. So movie, treats, and dinner cost less than $50 (with free babysitting).

It was nice to spent the time together, but no cloth napkins for us.

That's the way my DH cooks. He learned it from Justin Wilson (famous for Cajun cooking). Pour in a dash of wine, stir the pot, take a sip of wine...stir the pot, take a few more sips of wine, stir the pot...repeat until wine is gone.
