Ok I am still in my PJ's but only because I was in bed all day with a migraine. Just decided to keep them on for tonight.

Don't even get me started on MIL. Thirty six years and she still has to tell me to keep the knives in the center of the silverware holder for the dishwasher

My friend who has lived in Paris for the past year has requested that I tape some "American shows" for her kids. She suggested Arthur and the Berenstein Bears, but I'd like to add some more variety.

She has a boy (age 5) and a girl (age 7).

When they lived in the states, she really only let them watch PBS, but I don't think they had cable (Nick, Disney, etc.).

Any suggestions for age-appropriate shows? I think the shows Alyssa likes are too "babyish" for her kids.

I would suggest "Full House", "Raven", "Lizzie Mcquire" and such for the girl.

For the boy, my DS likes "Codename: Kids Next Door", "Kim Possible", Power Rangers, Spiderman. How about Scooby Doo?

Seriously, Little Einsteins.

Tickle U would be good for the 5 year old. The only drawback is that it has commercials.
DS (almost 5) likes Power Rangers, Dragon Tales, Clifford, Clifford's Puppy Days, Dora, Oswald, Go Diego Go, Jo Jo's Circus, Stanley, and Backyardigans...
In case anyone is wondering, the only thing he watches every day is Little Einsteins. We rotate through the rest of the shows.

My boys are 8 and 11.....they still are in love with Disney. Not so much the Disney movies since they are older but as they get older there is even more for the older kids to do and enjoy. Space Mountain, Test Track, TOT....I could go on and on. Think about it......how old are we and we still believe in the magic.

I was thinking along the lines of does there come a time that they outgrow the excitement of greeting the characters. You know, does it become "uncool". I sure hope it never does.

I was just at DL with my extended family, and my oldest niece (13) still wants to meet the characters and get their autographs. She loves the "big kids" rides, but still wants to do all the FL stuff, and character breakfasts. I hope my kids never grow out of that.

Thanks Tammi and Dawn. She's one of those "I don't let my kids watch too much TV, but when I do, it's educational" kind of moms.

We have Noggin on one of our TVs, but unfortunately we don't have a VCR hooked up to it. I love the shows on Noggin.

I can't find Stanley or Oswald in any listing.

I haven't really watched the Little Einsteins yet, but I have another friend who's boys love it too. Personally, I'm a fan of Jack's Big Music Show. Nick is having a marathon tomorrow from 11 a.m to 2 p.m.

Sounds like your house is like mine. My DH and other family members have to regale in times when the farts have been awsome. I thought I should PM you with this. when DH and I were very early into our marriage, I was so very unassuming. Now I can do it with the best of them
The story goes that when I was sitting out in the car waiting to take DH and my DS Hubby at the time to work, DH decided he had to go back into the house for something. Well, DS was upstairs and as DH came back out and was getting into the car, all I can hear is hysterical laughing coming from the house.
We do not talk in the morning so I was not sure what was happening.
Came back home and my sister (tinker1bell's sister)was still laughing. Apparently hubby came upstairs and got what he had forgotten and going down the stairs, he farted each step down and on the last step he did the final looooonnnngggg one. We call it the 13 stepper fart. He still tells this story after all these years.

that is funny not the least bit offended.

I didn't realize Stanley wasn't on the Disney Channel anymore . Noggin has Oswald sometimes. When they changed programming in August, I think, they dropped it. DS was devastated! He is outgrowing a lot of the shows on Noggin but he LOVED Oswald. I'm buying him 2 Oswald DVD's for Christmas.

Little Einsteins is very educational and an awesome show! I hope they make more soon because we've seen all they have so far. I also bought that DVD for DS for Christmas.

Backyardigans is a cool show. I would also consider it educational. It's great for developing creativity and the imagination.

Can you tell which shows are my favorites, lol?

I'm going with a 41 year old and a 42 year old, and I made them autograph books!!! They're looking forward to the characters, and so am I (but not for autographs - I just think they're all wonderful)!!

kate your house looks great. I too have a photo bucket account that is sitting their empty. my DH was supposed to upload the Halloween pics of DD as JOJO still has not. maybe i will take pictures of my house on sat. and try to figure out how to upload.

my dd and i are both picky eaters. some days she eats a lot and others hardly nothing. she want hungry when dh got her home. but when i got home and was eating she decided to eat and ate 4 helpings of spagatti.
I agree take Julia to the carnival and let her eat whatever she wants for lunch.

yeah that is what i meant. i have been up since 0530 and unlike some lucky people i have to work 3 days a week and when i do its a 12 hr shift so i am at the hospital from 0645 to 1915.

Ditto to everything Tammi said. My 8yr old son watches all of those mentioned above.

After reading through Denise's trip reports yesterday I started wondering...maybe you folks with older kids can answer...at what age did your children lose that sparkle and excitement that is all over Denise's kids' faces?

She is lucky because her kids are the same age and will outgrow it roundabout the same time. But what did you do when one child was outgrowing the Disney magic but the other child was still full of belief? I am not ready for this.

Tammi - I think you have a while before that happens. This year I noticed it starting to happen at DS is 11. He has known about "fur" characters for a couple of years, but he also knows that it is very "special" to keep the magic for his sister. He feels very grown up and loves to be "in on the secret."

He didn't want anything to do with autographs this year, and had to be drug up to the kids parade at LOLK.

It can be hard to watch. I don't ever want him to be so grown up that he is "too cool" for Disney.
