We stayed at both Pop and POFQ last trip. We liked both, but would probably do POFQ next trip. It is smaller, more tastefully decorated and has a bit more space as well as a fridge. Pop has the over the top theming, is large, but still easy to navigate, and has it's own bus route. We had a rental car the whole trip and will definately do that on future trips. It was so easy and much faster than Disney Transportation. We had the AAA parking pass so it worked out perfectly. Sometime I will finish my trip report.

Deb

Did you stay in AB with the trundle or 2 rooms?

OK ... bear with me ..... I have a moral dilemma .......

OK .. so I won the trip, right?

there are 3 of us .. so I had an extra ticket. It ended up that I invited my neighbor and her 2 kids to join us. This was back in APRIL.

We were going to help pay for some of the extra expenses. We had decided to give them our "free" room at the Poly and we would stay at Shades of Green. she was going to pay for the SoG room ... but she can't stay there because she isn't military.

I chose the Poly - cause it was right next to SoG. Otherwise, cost-wise, she would have had to stay at the All-Stars ... and I would have felt guilty.

OK ... so she asks me to wait to tell them kids.

I decided I wanted to tell them by getting gold Mouse ears - she thought it was a great idea. We were going to tel them when school let out.

But then she stalled ... and stalled .. .and stalled!!!

Well ... I new I had 30 days to cancel SoG ... so I told her .. .with time to spare that there was a 45 day window to cancel SoG. (she is NOT good with time commitment!)

On countdown day 46 ... she tells me she can't go ... can't afford it.

Now ... I have been waiting to tell my own son .. since APRIL. It has been killing me!!!!

So ... I have a bad day ... got upset .. and then decided "oh well - get OVER it!"

So I did.

I cancelled the extra room at SoG. I told my son all about the trip and told him we're staying at the Poly! Hooray!

Fast forward to today.

I mention her Mom's company is taking over sponsorship of Spaceship Earth ... which turns into ... "you won't believe it but 7 days after I had to cancel ... I got a big check!"

So ... you guessed it ... can I go! UGH She still has a shoestring budget to go.

Now ,,, the money we were going to use to help her has been earmarked for meals. I made ressies for us for meals that we had not planned on doing.

I mentioned I already told my son about the Poly ... and she says .... "well he could sleep over and you and DH could have a night together." Nice -- but we're not clubbing, DTD type of folk. I put DS to bed ... and I crash shortly after! (at WDW at least!)

So ... now ... she asked me to check if there is space at SoG.

There is a HUGE part of me that just wants to tell her -- sorry, they're full. She doesn't GET how much planning I did ... they had to undo .. to re-plan for only 3 of us!!!

I just don't know what to do ... mostly cause I feel GUILTY about not wanting her and the kids now!!!!

I'm going to answer before I read any replies.

I would go. I would stay at the Poly. I wouldn't move to SOG. Your son wants to stay at the Poly. The Poly has an awesome pool. The Poly has the monorail. The Poly has the Kona Cafe with tonga toast. It is YOUR gift. You won the trip. I would NOT give up the Poly. No way. I would not VISIT the Poly. NO way.

You can tell her SOG is full or you can tell her she can stay at Pop. See WDW is not a place to go with people with greatly uneven finances. You would want to go have breakfast at Crystal Palace and she'd want to eat at the food court. You'd want to go to MVMCP and she couldn't. You'd want to have dinner at CRT and she couldn't. You'd feel guilty and she'd feel poor.

I think I'd probably come clean and just tell her financially, you just can't swing treating her anymore. There are no more discounts for that period. The window for getting good rates had closed. And you really can't afford to pay rack rates for her when you won the trip for your family.

You go and have a great time. And stay at the Poly. It is wonderful. It's YOUR vacation after all.

We were in the French Quarter as Colby was still 2 at the time. He used a pack n play and slept very well in it. We would probably do Riverside with a Trundle next trip. The resort was very laid back compared to the hustle and bustle of Pop. Fort Wilderness is still my favorite though. I've tented, Rv camped and stayed in the cabins. It is an entirely different vacation there, much more relaxing.

Denise - you should go buy rechargeable batteries - you can buy them with a charger for about 9.99 -

regular batteries can take about 50 pictures - and a rechargeable can take about 300 - as long as you recharge them in your room each night - you will save a ton of money- but carry one set of regualr ones as a back up just in case

We have a charger and batteries. I didn't know if it would work for the camera. I'll get DH to charge them up and take it with us. I'll have regular ones too, just in case.

I was wondering if I had missed those reports or not. Those are the reasons we upgraded to PO. The little bit of extra room plus the fridge is going to make all the difference. Plus it was only $26 more with the discount. We like to have cereal/oj in the morning so having the fridge is convenient. Plus the double sink. DH and I, plus 2 kids, would have gone nuts with the single sink for a whole week. We haven't had a prob yet with Disney transpo, and until we do, we won't rent a car. We did one time and hardly ever used it. Although it did come in handy when the airline lost DS's suitcase and we had to run to walmart to get a pair of shorts/tshirt/undies, just in case the bag didn't get to us by the next day. But it did. Now I have learned to mix clothes when we pack.

Hey Lisa -

I have been thinking about your dilemma -

my bags are packed - tell your friend someone else already took her place!!!

Ok, I've got to go to bed. I'm falling asleep as I type. Rees has a his every 3 month doctor's appt in the am (Endocrinologist), so I'll see y'all tomorrow!

I'm going too, considering I said that about 5 pages back. Hope everything is well at the docs. Good night all.

Per weather.com:
AN ALBERTA CLIPPER TYPE STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING MESSY TRAVEL WEATHER TO SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND FOR THANKSGIVING DAY. WHETHER BY LAND...SEA...OR AIR...TRAVEL ON THURSDAY WILL BE IMPACTED.

Thank God I am leaving today! I wouldn't want to be stuck in anything messy, wet and cold. Anyone driving in MA/NH/RI/CT areas tomorrow, please drive carefully.

I'm off to wake up Terra and Phil!!! And we're off!!!

Don't apologize! I am impressed that you didn't ask me to give you metric measurements for the ingredients!

Hey, ex-Pampered Chef consultant in da house!! I could do it in cups with my handy adjustable scoop.....ahhhh OK, I promise I'll stop selling :guilty: :rotfl:
Actually, it was very useful as I can now use metric, English Imperial, American Imperial or cups - I just have to make sure I use tha same all through!

We have vegetable and corn oil easily available.

I'm going shopping tomorrow and I'll be trying it out on Friday :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Now back to where I left off as I see I have the usual 20 pages to catch up on :earseek:

ETA This looks yummy:
Pizza Bread. I fell in love with this when I was a cheerleader in high school. Our coach used to make it for our Pep Rally/Parties (awe the good old days).

I got a similar recipe off recipezaar called "Kids Calzones". You basically take part-baked baguettes or rolles and hollow out some of the bread (so they can't be frozen at this stage :rotfl: ) - I kept the bread for breadcrumbs for other recipes. You cook mince and mix it with pizza sauce (and something else - maybe fried onion?) then you get some grated mozarella and put half in the bottom of each bread, top with mince then the other half of the cheese on top. You wrap it really tightly in foil and leave in the fridge for 3-24 hours (or freeze) then bake in the oven. My DS LOVES these when he gets in from drama on a Saturday, as it can be in the oven waiting for him so he can get lunch straight away! Mind you, it can be a pain to get the foil off :teeth:

I QUITE agree! You were doing her a favour, she let you down despite you doing everything you could to help, so go to the Poly! You won it, you enjoy it! If she wants to sort out her own trip you can arrange to meet one day at a place that suits her budget - but I suggest its only ONE day as she sounds like the sort of person who'd keep you hanging around or not turn up. Don't waste your pixie dust - use it for your son! If you have one ticket left do you or he have a friend or cousin who could come with you? otherwise contact the organisers and ask if you can get something else for that amount (maybe an upgrade to concierge?) or (cos they probably woiukdn't do that) ask them to donate the value of a ticket to a suitable charity.

Lisa, this stinks that she changed her mind now! I have one rule... family first!!! If it isn't in yur plan anymore that she tags along, then forget it. You HAVE to take care of your first. I woulda died to not tell my DD for someone else... and believe me, I have made the mistake of being the good guy and only to screw me and mine. Hard lesson, but the world gets whta you have left AFTER you family. Just my 2 cents.

I left work at midnight and you all chit chatted 6 pages!!! I cant catch up now, DD had a thing at school.

ALSO... please send PD, I feel sick, 7 days and I feel sick! I have so much to do too! Need PD and prayers that I rest enough to kick this.

Jennifer - sorry you aren't feeling well. I am sure all of the moving and studying and testing has taken it out of you. Get a good night's sleep and you will feel better. I went to bed at 8:30 on Sunday night and slept for 12 hours. I was exhausted from our commando trip. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten you, and if I ever get to Cincinnati, I'll make sure you come to the party too!

Thanks! I got 8 hours of sleep for the first time in ages.... we'll see if it helps :goodvibes

Unfortunately, once the above-mentioned activities are over, then traveling galore starts..... so I think only a trip to Disney world (in 3 weeks!) is going to help :rotfl:
