Tammi,
Kate might not be able to fix your furnace but maybe Brendita might have an idea.

Becky

Sorry I'm not trained in gas appliance.
If it was electric I could help you out.
Now my DH can fix a gas furance.
Maybe I can ask him if he has any ideas.
He's in a good mood tonight.

Thanks!!! I am really excited about Legoland - DS is all about building stuff with his blocks!!! :goodvibes My main question about San Diego - what's the difference between the zoo and the animal park? I've read a bunch, but don't have a good picture of what to expect. Also, we are looking at staying in the Mission Bay (???) area - any recommendations of where or where not to stay? DL is all booked, but we still need to figure out the San Diego side of it. Thanks again!!!! :teeth:

There is a big difference between the zoo and the wild animal park. The zoo is in SD itself. It was nice, but it is still a zoo - some animals in cages, etc. We really did enjoy it, but it was a lot of walking. As I remember, they had a really nice bus ride that you could pay extra for.

The WAP is out of the city maybe 15-25 miles. I remember we had to drive there. It was much more open. The animals had more of a natural habitat. We took a ride very similar to KS at AK, or the Safari ride at Busch Gardens to try to see more of the animals.

They are both well worth doing, but 2 totally different experiences.

My DM and DD were both there, and for them it was cheaper to buy a 1 year pass that to buy 2 adult admissions to each place. So, check it out. The annual membership for 2 adults is $86. The cost for the Zoo is $32/adult and the Animal Park is $28.50/adult. So it would cost $35 less to buy the annual pass that pay to get into each separately.

Thanks! We will plan on doing both, then. I really want to see the pandas at the zoo, but the WAP sounds awesome, too! And thanks for the tip about tix - I would never have thought to check! :teeth:

Denise - Just wanted to say that your night pictures turned out great. I have problems getting good night shots w/ my camera. What was your secret?

Ok, everyone. Can I have some pixie dust please? Just talked to DH, who just picked up the kids and got home. We have NO HEAT!. I have no idea how long it has been out. He checked fuses and such, and just got out the manual for our furnace. Luckily, we have dual heat...electric upstairs, which is working, but the main floor is gas, which is not working. We do have a gas fire place on that level which does work. Makes no sense to me. So at least we have some warmth. I just hope that he can fix it and we don't have to have an emergency call-out for the gas man. I'm sure their price will be astronomical. Anyway, I am heading home now and hopefully I will have good news when I get there. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Kate, can you fix furnaces too???

OK if the gas fireplace & other gas appliances are working.
It could be just your pilot light is out.
1st check your pilot light.

OMG :earseek: the San Diego Zoo brings back a lot of memories. I lived in San Diego for three years and got to graduate from high school.. It is also where I met my DH. back in 1966. On a blind date !!!! At that time there was only the zoo near Balboa Park and that was it.

I really loved the area,,I was told now that where I lived, in Navy housing, there is now a 6 lane highway down the hill from our house :rotfl:

Brendita.............I know that tinker1bell didn't mean any harm with her post.....BUT!!!!! As a native Atlantan it did upset me a bit. I love GEORGIA and very proud to be living where I am. That post doesn't even come close to describing MY HOME. I live about 30 miles East of Atlanta just on the other side of Stone Mountain. It is not the "redneckville" that the post you read reflects. Downtown Atlanta is a beautiful place to visit and has lots of attractions. I can't wait to go visit the new Aquarium that just opened over the Thanksgiving Holidays. This is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I still encourage you to come join us.

Lynn
Lynn,
I live in the Portland Oregon area now.
In a small town Beaverton Oregon.
I'm not a big city gal.
I like living in a small town with a big city in the close distance.

Too fun!!! You met your DH on a blind date??? I didn't think anything good ever came of those! :rotfl: I used to always have the SD zoo cam website on to watch the pandas (and occasionally other animals). I need to go see if they still have that! ;)

That means that you will love the surrounding areas. My sister really likes Marietta, Ga,,,even though right now she is trying to move up here closer to me and Steffy. And she HATES SNOW :rotfl:

Well, I need to turn in. DH had a field day with me staying up on the boards after midnight last night - wait till he sees this! :rotfl2: Night all! Hope everyone stays warm! :sunny:

This was back in 1966 and we got married 6/7/69 I will have known him for 40 absoutely, wonderful years. More than two thirds of my life.
Steffy calls him Hubby Too because when she has had to move,,he is the only one who helps with moving her computers.
He looks at us and when we really get going, he stops and says he cannot handle so much stereo :rotfl:
