Do the deluxe resorts attached to the monorail ever get a decent discount?

Depends on what you define as "decent"...I got a AAA discount but if the price is already high (to me) it still doesn't look that great. (but I took it anyway )
Some people score 40% off rack rate for the deluxes, I think. You just have to know when the discounts are offered, and jump on 'em!

I don't know exactly what criteria allow people to get the 40%, but I've never gotten one!

Annual passholder rates sometimes are in the 40% range for low/value season.

My AP rate this past March came out to about 30% during peak season at the Poly. Rack rate was $449, discounted rate was $318

When the infamous 40% discount code came out, some of the lucky few that got in on the deal scored the GF for $198 a night. If they choose to admit it on here or not remains to be seen as this was a highly charged topic because people who did not receive the code fenagled their way with CRO to get it; i'm one of those lucky few.

I got Poly for $215 with an AP discount for this month. I guess that's good? I'm not even sure what rack rates are because I only go when I have a discount.

We only go to the world once a year and I'm just wondering if it's worth it to pick up AP's to get the room rate discount offers. Any info appreciated...also, does anyone happen to know the current AP prices for adults and kids??Thanks in advance!

In my experience you don't get notified. You have to scour the web for codes. You might get something in the mickey monitor, but I'm don't think you are going to find the deepest dicounts there. Deep discounts are usually within a couple of months and are because they aren't filling the rooms like they should.

Advice I've seen repeatedly on these boards (but I don't know because it doesn't apply to me) is that it is not worth it to buy a AP in hopes to get room discounts for a 1x a yr visitor.

Last Halloween we had a Pin and got the Poly garden view with 7 day park hopper and dining for $2400ish for 2 adults and 3 children. Two years ago we got room only for the poly for $179/night in November. Here's hoping for a pin cde for our upcoming April trip! Fingers crossed!

Wow- $2400 is a great deal- this year our 6 night stay with pin cost us $3279 for the garden view @poly with Dining 2 adults 3 kids (but one is under 3). I didn't even get hoppers.

We managed to apply the AP rate to our concierge room at the Contemporary for mid December saving $427 with 3 adults staying 7 nights. We did have to switch into the new pricing practice to do this (crossing into a second pricing season) but we're still very happy to save any money at one of the most expensive times of year! (Our room rate averages out to about $430/night incl. taxes plus we are getting the bonus $75 dining card.)

I booked the room in Jaunary '07 and never found a AAA discount but I heard that others got AAA and AP discounts in prior years for concierge rooms even at holiday times. When they announced that AP rooms were available this fall, I didn't know until late that first day when I got an e-mail from another Disney board. Most people in my situation actually found increased room prices by switching to the AP discount, but not me!

So, the answer is yes!
Monorail resort!
Concierge even!
Value crossing into holiday season!

Calling late the first day discounts announced!
