Disney Day of Service

I work for a charity that is signed up for this. Our Director of Development who set up the projects indicates that the tickets may not be upgradeable to multi-day tickets at all-- that they may be 1day/1park only-- so for example if you're going for 7 days, you can use this for 1day/1park but then you have to buy a 6 day park ticket at regular price for six days. She had inquired about a month ago for clarification from Disney but has not received any clarification at all. (so if you're going just one day, great, but if you're going for 7 days its not worth much to you---not that everyone shouldn't volunteer, all the charities need the volunteers!)

Can someone with Disney clarify this?

I think I heard the same thing too, but I was hoping someone else heard differently. You are right, if you need 7 day park tickets, you won't save much by using this free one and then buying only a 6 day ticket. Once you get up to 5 days+, the additional days are only around $8/day.

The following is from the disney website. Hope it helps.

May I upgrade my free one day ticket to an Annual Pass or multi-day ticket?

Yes, the value of the free ticket may be used toward the renewal of your Annual Pass or Passport as long as you completed your service and received and present your voucher within your applicable renewal period . You are responsible for any additional costs owed and no credits or refunds will be given.

It had said if you had a package you could get group fastpasses or something else, a pin set maybe? Can't remember for sure. We were hoping for a couple of each as we always get a package. I can't remember where it was and I have to get the kids to bed, but maybe if no one else posts it I will look for it and post itin a bit...

How frustrating  I have been trying all afternoon and this evening to register. It won't load, then it does, then it loses connection..... uggh...I am seeing volunteer activities fill up within my area (closest is 19 miles), but now I am leaning toward Project Linus..if I can ever register!!

Thank you for the information! I wonder if you can use it over the phone to renew? My renewal date won't be until Dec 18, 2010.

Ahhh, there's no school tomorrow...the kids can wait a minute...

Guests who present a valid multi-day ticket or Annual Pass or Passport may choose from one of the following three options instead of receiving the free 1-day, 1-park ticket:

◦Disney's FASTPASS® Special Exchange Cards for certain attractions for you and up to 5 additional members of your party. †

◦A Special Ear Hat figurine with unique trading pins‡

◦Donate your free ticket to one of the select non-profit organizations designated by Disney Parks:

I'm not sure exactly how annual passes work, but this is the only other mention of APs that the FAQs has:May I use the value of the free one-day ticket toward the renewal of my Annual Pass or Passport?

Yes, the value of the free ticket may be used to renew your Annual Pass or Passport within the applicable renewal window. You are responsible for any additional costs owed and no change or refunds will be given.

Signed my family up to make Valentine gift bags for the homeless. I love the idea of being able to do something here at home (as 2 of my children have autism and they do their best at home) and being able to take it and drop it off. I already talked to the coordinator about doing a clothing drive for them as well. The kids are so into it.

Question, it states that there are 1 million tickets, have they already allotted those to the projects offered or is there a chance that some won't get them?

Nothing really in my area that will allow kids. There was paint a chainlink fence and window washing for a church. I really don't think DS could handle either of those. Bummer! Wonder if they will add more

Well I heard back this morning. We will be helping with the packing and distribution of food for Angel Food Ministries in February. I also was inspired to make some blankets and the kids are ready to go, but we are going to wait a little while to get the fleece on sale.

I like this campaign a lot, I feel inspired and I am sure many, many people do. :thumbsup2

Will more opportunities come up later?

Everything up there is for Jan/Feb and we can't do anything until later in the year.

I am also looking at the opportunities nearby that will allow my children to participate and they all include at least $50 in donations......like the mailing a package to a military overseas.....$12 for shipping plus the contents of the box.

Now, I have nothing against helping our service men, I think it is a great idea.....but I don't think it will save me much in terms of Disney tickets.

Most likely next year we will get the Homeschool tickets that need to be ordered first anyway, and these can't be applied to that because these have to be purchased at the ticket window.

Still trying to figure out if there is a bargain in here for us or not.

Dawn

We have a similar opt where we need to make 100 bags, but my question is , is it a total of 100 bags or 100 per person in the family that you are signing up?? that would be 500 bags for me!! yikes.... anyone know??

TIA

has anyone from New jersey been able to sign up???

I have been trying all AM, and it keeps saying invalid state!

Seriously, I can sign up using any state abbrevation BUT NJ!! What the heck?!?!

We probably won't be going to WDW in 2010(we just went in November) but I might sign up for the day of service anyway. My DD is 10 and in Girl Scouts. This would be good for she and I to do together. :thumbsup2

I live in NJ and have had the same problem. We tried about 10 other states and they were all accepted, but Disney does not like NJ. I finally gave up and was going to try again later. I don't know who to call to request assistance. We are doing the Project Linus. If anyone has any advice or know who to contact, please let us know.

I am having the same problem as well as a friend of mine. NJ here also.. I already received 2 emailed from the coordinator I signed up with by cant get registered on Disneys site:mad:

I signed up for project linus and am waiting to hear back - this is great for my kids (6 & 8) b/c we can do it as a family and they can really participate! They love to make fleece blankets - I think we might try to do this on a regular basis!

I wonder if any of the project linus groups would let people sign up to make blankets from the states where there are no opportunities. You could easily make the blankets and mail them to them. I don't think you have to volunteer where you live.

I live in Atlanta as well and just signed up for the Project Linus. We will all need to make a blanket and the kids will be so excited to go and pick their own pattern and then we can either deliver them to a location that is about 45 minutes away or mail them. We are probably going to mail them. When you search put in a different zip code from the Atlanta area and maybe it will pull up other opportunities.

I signed my Girl Scout Troop up. THe great thing? They think they are volunteering just to serve and have no idea about the tix!

Did all of the girls parents have to sign them up individually? or were you able to sign up as a groop? I haven't been able to find where to sign up as a troop, it just say's that I must be the parent or legal guardian to sign up children 6 - 17 years old.

There is a location in Georgia that you could check in to. I just signed up for it and they are located about 45 minutes from our house so we will mail our finished blankets to them. Put in 30518 as your zip code and see if it pulls it up. :flower3:
