Disney dangled the visual weinee & Mickeystoontown gobbled it up! 10/26

Ya'll, I'm sorry that I didn't get to post the update like I thought that I would late last week. Work was busy. I did get more pictures uploaded to Photobucket so I won't have to do that for the next update or two. :thumbsup2

It rained all weekend and we couldn't get out and work in the yard and garden like we usually do. So, we went on the hunt for a backpack since school starts on the 14th. John is not a shopper and I was stunned when he said that he'd go with us when I casually asked if he wanted to. I had forgotten that it was no sales tax weekend and everybody and their grandmaw and their cousin twice removed was out shopping trying to save a few bucks. Including me! :lmao:

Speaking of saving some bucks, I saved $37.00 in coupons! $10 off $10 at J.C. Penney, $10 off $25 at J.C. Penney, $10 off by using my Kohl's cash and 20% off our entire purchase at Kohl's ($7.00). Everything that we bought was either on sale or clearance. John came away with a lightweight winter jacket for $4.99. Hunter's backpack originally $65.00 was $29.00. Hunter got two Buffalo button down shirts for $4.99 each and a hoodie for $24 (originally $50). Love those sales!

One thing that we didn't get to use a coupon on was a guitar. We went into the music store to get some Christmas ideas and Hunter walked out with a new something or other electric guitar made by Fender. Can you tell that I know absolutely nothing about musical instruments? They had a really good sale and while Hunter was in one of the rooms playing the guitar, John said "why don't we go ahead and get it for him?". This coming from the man who says that I spoil our kids too much. :rotfl: The look on Hunter's face when we told him to take it to the counter was priceless and made it well worth the "not in our planned budget" purchase.

About a year and a half ago, my aunt gave me her sewing machine. Her next door neighbor had talked her into buying it quite some time ago and it had been used less than a dozen times. She was ready to get rid of it and asked if I wanted it. Even though I already had a sewing machine, I told her that I'd take it. It has been sitting in our extra bedroom a/k/a my sewing room all that time and I decided that it was time to take a look at it since I was rained in. After much cleaning and oiling, it works perfectly. I started appliquing a shirt yesterday and it's going to look so cute! I'll post pictures when I'm done. It's hot pink with a tie dye Mickey head on the back and a tie dye faux pocket on the front. I think that I'm going to start selling the t-shirts to help fund our Disney habit. :cool1:

I've also started kinda sorta laying out a plan for next year's trip to Disney. Yes, I know that the ticker says that we still have nine months to wait but I like to have a plan, at least a general one, if I'm spending that kind of money. Our ADR time will occur when we are in Tennessee over the Thanksgiving holiday and I will need to make them while we are there. Lacey and Jesse are hoping to go too and since they'll only have five days there, we want the most bang for the buck. Plus, I like spreadsheets, notes, lists, etc. Heck, I probably have a list of lists. :p

Guess that I need to stop babbling/rambling and get back to work. Maybe the boss will leave a bit early and I can get that update done.

Hey Lisa! I think we were in your neck of the woods today! We're headed across Louisiana on I-20 headed to Florida to pick up a new horse trailer for our company! It's going to kill me to be so close to Disney (about 2 hours North) and not be able to go!!! I can't wait to hear more about your trip!

It sounds like you were! We'll pretend that we waved to each other when you passed by. :lmao: Oh gosh, yes, what a tease being that close to Disney and not being able to go. Safe travels!

Is that bird crap or a hidden Mickey? Look closely! I can't tell!

After the impromptu Dis Meet, we continued our walk towards the Yacht & Beach Club resorts. This was our first time having gone to either of the resorts and our view from the Boardwalk was, well, well, well, actually, we didn’t have a clue that we were looking over at the resorts. I knew that they were over there somewhere but I didn’t know where. Quite honestly, by the time we had gotten to the Boardwalk, we were fit to be tied and ready to get the heck back to Downtown Disney. :sad2:

We got over the slight hill and could see the resort and the beach and it was lovely! Seriously, lovely. So, lovely that we needed a couples picture. I handed off the camera to Hunter and we got these err....wonderful....err....beautiful....err....typical for our family shots:

Just forget it, give me the camera back and let’s stroll. :p The view across the lake:

The lighthouse:

As you can see, there was no one out on the beach and I’m sure that’s because it had rained and the sand was wet and there were still some storm clouds looming. There, however, was a group of pre-teens/teenagers playing football out on the lawn which looked a little out of place but I guess there was nowhere else to go. Also, some people had hung their wet clothing and towels over the railings and it took away from the beauty of the resort a bit. This is not a dig at the resort itself because people do it at all of the resorts.:laundy: I just don’t happen to like seeing it and don’t do it. I usually hang our’s over the chairs in the room or on the retractable line in the bathroom.

We continued our stroll and even though I had no clue where we were going, we walked inside to look around a bit.

Alas, this is the only picture that I took and it’s blurry:

While dining and shopping at the Polynesian, Hunter had spied a tank top but they didn’t have it in his size. We figured it was worth a shot looking in the resort shops to see if they had any. As soon as we stepped in, there was the tank. But, as luck would have it, not in Hunter’s size. :headache: The castmember was kind enough to go in the back and check to see if they had others that hadn’t been put out yet. While she was looking, we wandered the stores and John and I found t-shirts that we liked with the Beach Club design on the back. Why, oh why, have they done away with so many of the resort specific items? The castmember came back after a while and said that they didn’t have any of the tanks so we went ahead and paid for our t-shirts and left the resort.

We continued our walk and I took a few pictures along the way:

The other resort shop didn’t have the tank either and we didn’t see anything that we just had to have so we went outside to rest a minute. Hunter had broken one of the cardinal rules of traveling: he wore shoes that hadn’t been broken in yet. At least that’s what he was blaming the need to rest on. For all I know, he wanted to check his text messages since the phone immediately came out of the pocket. :rolleyes1 John and I kept the phones in the pocket and counted the number of lizards that were lying around waiting on the sun to come out. There were eighteen that we could see and I’m sure that there were more that we didn’t see.

Rest over with, we walked back towards International Gateway. It was time for John to take his medicine so we stopped to get a fountain drink at the area near the pool.

While John and Hunter were in line, I took a picture of this:

I turned and spied a speck of something. What is that? Is that bird crap or a hidden Mickey?:confused3 Look closely! I can’t tell!

If it is a hidden Mickey and it’s a permanent thing, and you want to know where to look...look at the cut off landscape timbers just to the right of the drink refill station. Here’s the corner of that building:

We came to the conclusion that it was a hidden Mickey made to look like bird crap. :rotfl: John took his medicine and we shared the rest of the drink. I’m really glad that we had taken the time out of our park schedule to make the walk over. If my pocketbook wouldn’t squeal like a stuck hog, I’d love to stay at either the Yacht or Beach Club one day. If I were willing to cut our vacation in half, we could but I can’t see that happenin’ ‘cause we like our long vacations. For now, we’ll keep staying at Caribbean Beach and possibly make our way back over to the resorts for dinner one evening.

**Next up: You big fat lipped hairy sucker you! Be still!

WOOT an update!! That hidden mickey is perfect! Even my John has been known to turn the most bizarre things into hidden Mickey's, can you say "dead-headed dahlias" 10 times fast?? Only thing i can say about those pics is "DUDE, PUT A SHIRT ON!!" One of my personal bugs is when folks feel the need to let me see their "all-together!"

You have inspired me to start my 1st pre-trip report ... consider yourself forewarned if you head in willy-nilly, I was once accused of "abusing custom smilies" :rotfl2: Have a great evening!

I can't wait to see a picture of the shirt you are making. It sounds great! Speaking of pictures...I love the first pic of you and your hubby! I don't imagine he could squint any harder.:lmao: The last one is good...progression is the key! :thumbsup2

Maybe someone finally taught the birds to poop Mickey style. Those are some talented birds if I do say so myself! :rotfl2:

We stayed @ Beach Club back in 2012 for a few nights. While I didn't love the room & halls, I did love the resort location and the outdoor & pool areas.

I would definitely like to stay at Yacht Club one year.

That Hidden Mickey is too funny! It sure does look like bird crap.

I enjoyed your tour of the Yacht and Beach club resorts! I’d love to stay at one of them too but like you said, not at the expense of shortening my vacation!

The Hidden Mickey find is priceless!

WOW! Good deals you got.
Be very careful selling Disney items with copyright logos as they are going to get a lot stricter about it.
It is never too soon to start planning a trip.
Guilty! I hang my stuff over the balcony. LOL. I like how it dries outside better personally.
That is a Mickey head. LOL.
Have you looked into renting points to stay there? Sometimes it is cheaper than a hotel stay.

I definitely think Hunter gets his lovely photo poses from John.....oh yeah, that first one is frameworthy! We would also love to stay at the Beach Club one day, but our income just wouldn't allow for that. We do enjoy Cape May at BC for a nice dinner. :thumbsup2

I think that last pic of you guys came out really nice!

The Epcot resorts are so pretty but like you I would rather go more often or for longer periods of time. I can totally see why people love staying there. It's gorgeous!

Nice job with the shopping deals. The first thing that came to mind with the 4.99 shirts is how many compliments they'll both be getting now. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: at a list of lists. It is fun being able to plan the details of a vacation.

Yay for shopping with coupons! Love it! :thumbsup2

Hunter must be thrilled over his new guitar! I am very excited for him! :cool1:

OMG - that hidden Mickey DOES look like bird crap! :rotfl2: How cute! Good for you for finding it!

I'm glad you finally made it over to the BC/YC. It really is so gorgeous and a great spot just to walk around. I hear ya on the pocket book ouch. If it wasn't for DVC I would never be able to stay there.

Cute pictures of you and John (well - he was sort of squinting or something :rotfl:)

Wow awesome job finding that Hidden Mickey and yes it does look like bird poop! They were really trying to hide it :lmao:

:rockband:

Great job on a guitar! and all your savings! :thumbsup2 can't believe summer is over.. That just makes my trip that much closer! :cool1:

i have to agree someone said you the picture is frame worthy! :rotfl2: Too funny. you guys are just lots of fun!!!!

A-MAZ-ING Disney trained their birds how to poop Mickey heads! :cool2:

That's so great that you surprised Hunter with the guitar. He seems like a good kid that definitely deserves it.

I can't wait to see pics of the shirt your making.

I hope Hunter gets to find that tank top in his size.

Love the bird poop Mickey! Who would've thought we'd both have poop themed posts on our TRs on the same day! :)

Had to get caught up on a few updates

First- real life- thanks for keeping us up to date with Mama. Hoping that the reasons behind her dizziness are discovered soon- inner ear is certainly a likely culprit.

Great bargain shopping! That is fantastic that you got the guitar for Hunter, since music is so important to him.

I have not been in the church in Norway and I think I only recently learned you could go inside. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I have only seen Frozen once. Ben and I watched, but with teen boys in the house our tastes run more to Game of Thrones and Zombie stuff! and football.

I had about the same reaction as you to Schoolbread. I was SOOOOO excited to try it, especially since coconut is one of my favorite flavors. But, like you, I expected to be sweeter. Mine was dry, too. It did not blow me away and I don't think I have tried it since that first time in 2008.

YAY for an unexpected DIS meet!

I am so excited that you had a little visit to my happy place! You know, if you went into the YC gift shop (Fittings & Fairings)- you have seen more of the YC than me. I have only been in the lobby, near Captain's Grille, in the YC resort.

That hidden Mickey is hilarious! I haven't seen that before. I will check that out in a couple of weeks during my solo drive-by visit home for the Beach & Yacht Club FAQ meet. I'll be there a couple of days.

Speaking of upcoming trips. I think I will just be missing you next year :(

The dates have not definitively been set yet, but Ben's class trip will probably be the following week in June, after you return home.

Somehow I missed the previous update, so I will comment on both!

It's too bad the School bread and horn weren't all that good. They do both look like they should have good flavor, so it's too bad they don't live up to that.

I've noticed that the line for Maelstrom has been pretty long my last 2 trips, even before FP+ started. I never used to have trouble getting on it, but now the line is too long to justify standing in. :confused3

I think the pictures of you and John are great! :goodvibes

Too bad they didn't have the tank in Hunter's size in any of the shops. The pictures you took around Beach/Yacht club are nice. I'd love to stay at a deluxe resort someday as well, but probably won't anytime soon for the same reason as you. I'd rather stay at CBR and get a longer vacation! :thumbsup2

I find hidden Mickeys everywhere even in the real world. If there are circles, there may be a hidden Mickey.

I just joined your pre-trip report and am looking forward to reading all about your upcoming adventures.

I can't wait to see a picture of the shirt you are making. It sounds great! Speaking of pictures...I love the first pic of you and your hubby! I don't imagine he could squint any harder.:lmao: The last one is good...progression is the key! :thumbsup2

I didn't get to work on the shirt last night because I was canning tomatoes and making pear preserves. Hopefully, I can finish it up this evening.

I wonder where Disney gets their talented birds? I mean, seriously, "normal" birds can't poop like that. :lmao:

We stayed @ Beach Club back in 2012 for a few nights. While I didn't love the room & halls, I did love the resort location and the outdoor & pool areas.

I would definitely like to stay at Yacht Club one year.

I have looked at the room pictures online and I think that I like the decor of the Yacht Club a little bit more.

Disney Imagineers did a good job making the hidden Mickey look like bird crap.

I enjoyed your tour of the Yacht and Beach club resorts! I’d love to stay at one of them too but like you said, not at the expense of shortening my vacation!

The Hidden Mickey find is priceless!

If we were to stay half as long, we could stay at the Yacht or Beach Club but I just now get my vacations at the right length so I ain't going back to shorter vacations.
