Ya'll, I'm sorry that I didn't get to post the update like I thought that I would late last week. Work was busy. I did get more pictures uploaded to Photobucket so I won't have to do that for the next update or two.
It rained all weekend and we couldn't get out and work in the yard and garden like we usually do. So, we went on the hunt for a backpack since school starts on the 14th. John is not a shopper and I was stunned when he said that he'd go with us when I casually asked if he wanted to. I had forgotten that it was no sales tax weekend and everybody and their grandmaw and their cousin twice removed was out shopping trying to save a few bucks. Including me!
Speaking of saving some bucks, I saved $37.00 in coupons! $10 off $10 at J.C. Penney, $10 off $25 at J.C. Penney, $10 off by using my Kohl's cash and 20% off our entire purchase at Kohl's ($7.00). Everything that we bought was either on sale or clearance. John came away with a lightweight winter jacket for $4.99. Hunter's backpack originally $65.00 was $29.00. Hunter got two Buffalo button down shirts for $4.99 each and a hoodie for $24 (originally $50). Love those sales!
One thing that we didn't get to use a coupon on was a guitar. We went into the music store to get some Christmas ideas and Hunter walked out with a new something or other electric guitar made by Fender. Can you tell that I know absolutely nothing about musical instruments?
They had a really good sale and while Hunter was in one of the rooms playing the guitar, John said "why don't we go ahead and get it for him?". This coming from the man who says that I spoil our kids too much.
The look on Hunter's face when we told him to take it to the counter was priceless and made it well worth the "not in our planned budget" purchase.
About a year and a half ago, my aunt gave me her sewing machine. Her next door neighbor had talked her into buying it quite some time ago and it had been used less than a dozen times. She was ready to get rid of it and asked if I wanted it. Even though I already had a sewing machine, I told her that I'd take it. It has been sitting in our extra bedroom a/k/a my sewing room all that time and I decided that it was time to take a look at it since I was rained in. After much cleaning and oiling, it works perfectly. I started appliquing a shirt yesterday and it's going to look so cute! I'll post pictures when I'm done. It's hot pink with a tie dye Mickey head on the back and a tie dye faux pocket on the front. I think that I'm going to start selling the t-shirts to help fund our Disney habit.
I've also started kinda sorta laying out a plan for next year's trip to Disney. Yes, I know that the ticker says that we still have nine months to wait but I like to have a plan, at least a general one, if I'm spending that kind of money. Our ADR time will occur when we are in Tennessee over the Thanksgiving holiday and I will need to make them while we are there. Lacey and Jesse are hoping to go too and since they'll only have five days there, we want the most bang for the buck. Plus, I like spreadsheets, notes, lists, etc. Heck, I probably have a list of lists.
Guess that I need to stop babbling/rambling and get back to work. Maybe the boss will leave a bit early and I can get that update done.
