Disney dangled the visual weinee & Mickeystoontown gobbled it up! 10/26

Did I see that right? You have 4 cotton trees coming up? Very cool! :cool1:

Yes! I'm so excited that they are coming up. I wondered if the seeds were still good since when we picked them up, they were wet. If I am remembering correctly, I planted eight or nine seeds and four have come up so far.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Well, there are some nice lanterns too.

And, the posters are cute.

He's saying, "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine."

Everytime I hear any reference to Ovaltine, I think of Red Rider BB Gun, I mean, shoot, what's that dumb movie they play over and over again at Christmas?

They all looked pretty decent from the pictures. I'll have to remember not to bother with the beef.

The beef was okay but the others were better.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Anything lemon flavored gets a :thumbsup2

:rotfl:

Sure looks like an amazing restaurant!

It is a pretty restaurant, for sure.

:rotfl::rotfl2:

Really? Everybody agreed to that?:confused3

Hunter because he probably needed a sitting place to check his text message and John needed a nap.:lmao:

I'm gonna go with the latter.

That's really the only way to experience the ride. :rolleyes1

I remember being hugely disappointed when I was down there in 2010 and it was down for refurbishment:

IMG_3915.JPG

As I said earlier, this picture made me laugh and I needed it that day.

Man, I got behind!

Happy Anniversary!~ 30 years! That's fantastic. party:

Thank you!

I happen to love the Tiki Room. We sing that song all the time at my house.

In the Tiki Tiki Tiki room!

Love your BTMRR pics! We're taking my 5 year old on that for the first time in a few weeks. She can't wait!

Yay, I know that she's excited!

Your candy looked really good, but I have to agree, Skittles mixed with M&M's, :crazy2:

:crazy2:

I love your turnstile story. My DH and I would be laughing hysterically at that, so you're definitely not alone.

It was really quite funny seeing the people trying to figure out how to get through the turnstiles. PUSH THE BUTTON!

I'm so glad you posted the BOG lunch pics! We just got an invite for a lunch FP there and took advantage, so now I'm super excited to eat there! I know we're going to have a hard time deciding what room to sit in.

I have heard that some can make lunch reservations without an invite and others can't. It's odd. I hope that ya'll have as great a lunch as we did.

I love the picture of John sleeping on IASW and Hunter looking at him like he's crazy.

Hunter was hamming it up for the picture and wasn't much surprised that John was napping. I mean, seriously, he does it every trip.

Well, you have been very busy with updates, but I am all caught up. Thanks for the links, I had to skip the chit chat :(

I sometimes skip the chit chat on reports too. If I don't, I'll never get caught up.

I think you nailed the best part about the Tiki Birds- the air conditioning!

Don't forget that wonderful song!

I love Big Thunder! I'm glad that a serial killer didn't accompany you on the ride this year.

I was close to being Hannibal Lector again but I remembered not to wrap the strap around my neck a million gazillion times.

I used to love those Country Bear, always a must do, but it has ben a few years (or 10) since we have seen the show. Somehow, I think it would all come back to me if we went.

I bet that it would all come back to you since it hasn't changed in quite a while. :sad2:

I enjoyed reading about your Be Our Guest lunch. What a gorgeous restaurant!!!

The restaurant is really pretty and the food was pretty good too.

I was there Tuesday. I don't think we got a rose, or maybe they gave it to the woman I ate with and I just didn't notice. I'm a sucker for passionfruit anything, so I went with the cream puff, but looking at your cupcakes I have buyers remorse.

John doesn't care for cupcakes too much but even he liked them there.

Your pictures of Small World are great. You are right, there is a lot, and always something new, to see on that ride.

Always something new.

:goodvibes:

PS- I did find the "bird poop" Hidden Mickey at Hurricane Hanna's. There's actually a few of them on the pilings around the pool. A CM commented to me about them.

:lmao:

Oh so there's more than just the one? That's sooooo neat!

Lisa, we were having dinner at Cracker Barrel tonight and I saw this sign that reminded me of you! I can so hear you saying this! ;)

(I almost bought it for DH, actually :lmao:)

Sara, you aren't going to believe this.....I have a sign that actually says "I love you more than biscuits and gravy!" Can you believe it? It's a long skinny one and is sitting atop an old window frame that John made into a whatnot shelf. I love how we Disers "get" eat other.

I am joining the All-Caught-Up Club!

Just a comment about the BOG cupcakes. I read that these cupcakes are meant to be spooned out the so-called wrapper because the wrapper really isn't intended to be removed.

Hopefully it won't be weeks again before I get back!

Well, that's dumb! :rotfl: I would think that they'd want you to dig in and not leave a single bite down in the wrapper. :lmao:

thanks for the pics of Be our Guest! I am trying to sang a FP. I was thinking of the pork roast meal (best use of a CS credit) but after so many years of "free" dining, we are trying to get what we really want, not just the most expensive thing. (but I really do like pork roast, and I think it comes with green beans or some type of veggie.

anyhow, those sandwiches look might yummy, I was thinking is nebo gets the turkey and I get the roast beef, we could cut them in half and swap. heck, when I get my 2 halves, I might mix them up and have a turkey/roast beef sub!

(we just have to get rid of that arugula they keep trying to pass off as lettuce these days! :rotfl: what's a gal gottat do to get a leaf of crunchy iceberg lettuce on her sandwich?)

I seriously thought about the pork roast meal myself but decided that it might be a little too heavy of a meal since it was so hot out.

I like the swapping idea. We usually order a few different entrees so that we can get a sampling of everything.

Yeah, we don't care for "floppy lettuce" either. :rotfl:

Ok so I am now caught up on your latest updates. WOW you wrote like wild fire since I posted last!

I had to get the updates posted as I could. I never know when I'll be able to post again. Thankfully, last week wasn't as busy as previous ones.

There is only so much you can fit in at MK so I was glad to see your report on both Tiki Room and Country Bears Jambore. Even though we had two days at MK we never did fit either of these in. What a shame because I think the boys would have loved both of them.

You are right, you can only fit in so much in a certain period of time. Some stuff has to be left out.

I love your Big Thunder Railroad picks. I just can not seems to get clear pictures of any rides while I am on them and I have a good camera:(
I sure would like to know how your guys do it as well as how many get the indoor shots like Haunted Mansion and Peter Pan to come out so clear:confused:

I have so man pictures that I can't use because they turn out so bad or blurry or tilted, etc. I am so envious of those who can get such wonderfu pictures on the fast moving or dark rides.

I am not even sure I notice Rapunzel's Bathrooms. Now I am on a mission on my next trip to go inside to see what it is like:thumbsup2

The inside of the bathrooms are just as cute as the outside.

Don't you just love the detail in BOG! I am so glad you posted the carved Prime Roast Beef Sandwich. I have been debating on getting it or the French onion soup the next time I go. I wish the soup came with Pomme Fries.
I have to agree though seems she got the shaft.

I loved Be Our Guest! The details were amazing and the food was good too.

There is always a laugh a day in your reports!
If I were Rapunzel made me laugh a lot; permission to crack that joke on my next trip?

What can I say...maybe I'm a closet comedian? :rotfl2:

They really did do a great job on BOG. It's beautiful. We have eaten there for lunch and dinner and love both. The pork roast for lunch is to die for! If you do go for dinner in May, you should try the steak or the scallop and shrimp pastry...amazing!

Did the pastry get all soggy/wet? I can't stand wet soggy bread.

DS and I discussed it and we are going to try to do IASM in December. Apparently I am a bad mother and have avoided it every time he has been with me. I think I took him when he was 2 or 3 but alas, that does not count in his eyes since he can't remember it. I am sure DH will be enjoying nap time in there just as yours did. :rotfl:

You gotta go on It's A Small World for old times sake!

Wow, I was out of town working for a couple of weeks and really got behind! Great updates! Congratulations on the big anniversary! I don't know why you apologized about the slowness of updates - I couldn't figure out how you had time to post ANY, especially with that big old garden to get into jars and the freezer! You are going to have some great eating again this winter. My mother did all of that, but she and you are better women than I!! :thumbsup2

Welcome back to the report! ;) The garden is slowing down a bit because of this darn heat. It's drying up everything despite us watering it. We still have peas, butterbeans, okra and some tomatoes though they are coming in slowly. That's okay, I'll take what we can get out of it.

Loved all the updates. They were practically a primer on how to survive hot days in the Magic Kingdom! You hit lots of cool spots, but I just can't stay with you on the bears. I just think it is way overdue for refurbishment and some new jokes!

Over the years, we've figured out just the right time to pop into something air conditioned before we have a literal meltdown. I agree that they could use some new material at Country Bears. I would like to see their Christmas show sometime.

I especially enjoyed seeing Be Our Guest. I haven't been in several years and I have a LOT to catch up on!

You sure do! Disney just keeps on expanding.

Sorry about some of the issues of life getting in the way - hope Mama has had great checkups and John is more stable. Guess Hunter is busy getting back in the swing of school. Hope he has a great year - can't believe he is a JUNIOR!

Nice to see the origin of the seeds.

Mama is doing better and so is John. He has a neurologist appointment on Friday so we'll see what he says about these worrisome symptoms.

Yep, Hunter's a Jr. now. Isn't that crazy?!

I am with you on feeling like you are going the wrong way on IASW.. LOL. I seriously thought we were on our last trip. LOL

Wake up JOHN!!!!

Did you see on the resort board where someone posted new pics of the refurbed rooms at CBR?

Oh you know John, he likes to take his Small World nap. ;)

I have been watching the CBR thread and have seen the new rooms. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked them because they weren't bright and colorful like the others but they are definitely growing on me.

OK, while catching up on your report, trying to decide if I want to order a specialty cake (I love this one),

making ADR's, trying to decide if we want to go to MNSSHP, adding an extra day, working extra shifts at work, and just general blah, blah, blah stuff :(, I think I am ready to comment :lmao:.

First, I know I commented before about your drive through Mobile, but why you hatin' on my town?..........:rotfl: You should LOVE to drive through here just knowing I'm here :rotfl::lmao::laughing:. If you hate it now, just wait until Airbus is up and running, and all the people who will be working there are on the interstate at rush hour :furious::headache:. Second, now I know why John falls asleep so easily....Ativan. Third, how in the world were you able to get a FP for BOG? I have been trying and it isn't even an option on my choices, am I doing something wrong? I really wanted to have one of the Knights whisper to me. Fourth, after reading reviews of SDMT, I'm not sure I am going to bother waiting in the long lines for what most people are saying is a kid's ride that lasts 2 minutes. All the FPs are gone and have been for a while. I am VERY claustrophobic and reading that the lap bars are tight, and the CM's push them down to the point that you can't move, makes me feel nauseated just thinking about it.

I am trying to decide if I want to start a PTR for my trip or not?!?! I get started on one then get so busy I fall behind. I have been on here more lately trying to keep up with my friend Wonder Woman Lisa......hehehe. I've actually posted a couple things on other threads if you can believe that!?!?

I saw that you posted on the cake thread. I subscribed to that thread when I thought that I might order a birthday cake for Hunter. I liked all of cakes that you posted pictures of. The one above is cute!

Girl, I totally understand. I have been so busy lately and can't seem to stay caught up on anything.

First, I know I commented before about your drive through Mobile, but why you hatin' on my town?..........:rotfl: You should LOVE to drive through here just knowing I'm here :rotfl::lmao::laughing:. Okay, now, you be hatin' on your own town so give me a pass. :rotfl: There have been only a handful of times that we came through Mobile and it wasn't busy. Oh and I think about you every single time.

Second, now I know why John falls asleep so easily....Ativan.

He only takes the Ativan when it's absolutely necessary. The combination of the other meds is what makes him clonk out. The neurologist that is seeing him now took him off quite a bit so the "I can fall asleep anywhereness" isn't as bad as it used to be.

Third, how in the world were you able to get a FP for BOG? I have been trying and it isn't even an option on my choices, am I doing something wrong? I really wanted to have one of the Knights whisper to me.

Have you seen the BOG FP thread on the Disney Restaurant board. There's a lot of tips on how to snag one. I guess when I booked our's, it was easier to get one. Dinner, on the other hand, was a no-go.

None of us thought that it was too tight or restrictive. We loved it and rode two times. I would have ridden more if the wait wasn't so dang long. I am a bit worried about Jesse getting on though 'cause he's a big boy.

Start one! Start one! Start one!

Start one! Start one! Start one!

I am giving serious thought to the PTR :scratchin

LOL....I do hate driving on the interstate around here!! It isn't quite as bad as ATL, but close. This upcoming trip will be the first time I have driven to Disney as Dale is usually the driver. I have driven while at Disney and I think I told you about the time Dallas and I got lost leaving EPCOT!?!? :lmao:

I think I will call Boardwalk Bakery tomorrow and see what this cake will cost. I have an ADR at Olivia's (never eaten there) on our arrival day and that is when I want the cake delivered so we can eat on it the whole time we are there. Since you saw my post on the cake thread you know that I want it as a multiple celebration cake.

i swear to you i look forward to your updates.. and read Capt Oblivious.. the comic relief here has me in stitches!!!

You'll be fine driving. You know that I do almost all of the driving when we go anywhere. I'd much rather be in control instead of just sitting around doing nothing.

Oh I remember! We used to get turned around when we drove to Epcot. I'll let Disney do the driving, thank you very much. :thumbsup2

Oooh, Olivia's! We ate there and it was delicious! Loved it!

I love me a woman with cat eye glasses and a big ol' mole!

John had his nap. Hunter had his phone fix and I spotted a flying pig. And, all that was done in just a short boat ride in the middle of a theme park. Yep, life was good. :thumbsup2 Until we hit the wall of people at the exit of the ride and the heat hit us smack in the face. There were a crap ton of people and it was hot! :sad1: (pretend that smiley is not crying and that's sweat instead of tears) If we could weave our way through the stream of folks, we might get to Mickey’s Philarmagic in time for the next show. Or, even if we had to wait, at least we’d be waiting in the air conditioning.

**Let me stop a minute and comment on the heat and crowds.

First, the heat: We are from Louisiana and we are used to our Summer days being in the high 90s and have our fair share of humidity. Our heat index will hit the 100s. Some of our Spring days are in the high 80s/low 90s. Heck, we sometimes wear short sleeve shirts on Christmas Day. :scared: Having said that, yes, we get hot while in Disney but we know when/how to beat the heat by popping into attractions or ducking into a quick service restaurant. It’s all about the timing.

Now, the crowds: In this update, it’s mid-afternoon and we are in the new Fantasyland so, yes, it was busy. There are some spots in each park that have narrower walkways and they can become congested. And, we all know that there are “those” people who will stop dead in their tracks and congregate which stops the flow. :sad2: On this day, we saw quite a few castmembers directing “traffic” which helped to keep the guests headed in the right direction.

The majority of our trips to Disney have been during this same time frame and we have always been able to navigate our way through the crowds and with the use of Fastpass have seen almost everything in each park. We enjoy this time of year as it seems that some schools haven’t let out for Summer yet and the crowds aren’t so bad that we can’t enjoy ourselves.

So, while I may sound like I am complaining a lot about the heat or the crowds, I do not mean for it to sound as if we weren’t enjoying ourselves or that we were about to pass out from the heat or suffocate from the crowds. We had a fantastic time, were able to cool off when needed and go around or through the other folks to get to where we wanted.

**

When we got to the theater, we saw that they had already let people inside the waiting area and John had just enough time to check his voicemail. Somebody kept calling and leaving a message that the technician would be arriving at our house at so-and-so time. We figured it was a wrong number and hadn’t called them back yet. There was no time to call them now (not like he would have in the line anyway ‘cause that’s just rude and, he’s so hard of hearing, he turns his phone up loud and everybody would have heard every single thing that's being said on both ends). The line was going into the pre-show (a/k/a room that you stand in ‘cause there is no real pre-show at Philarmagic) and I had just enough time to snap two pictures:

There are so many hidden Mickeys in the painting on the wall but I only had time to capture that one.

When the doors opened to the actual theater, a miracle happened! Nobody plopped their behinds down in the center of the row. Everybody actually followed instructions and moved all the way down. Can you believe it? Had I not seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have. :rotfl:

Mickey’s Philarmagic is one of my very favoritest shows ever! Every single catchy Disney song is played and I always end up singing along especially during the “Everybody look left! Everybody look right!” part . :simba:

Did ya’ll know that there was a rumor that the Imagineers originally had a deodorant scent that they wanted to spray into the theater when Ariel is stretching her arms out? I kid you not! That’s what I read! I’m thinking that the Imagineers had a really good sense of humor and they figured with the hot and sticky Florida weather, there’d be a lot of stinky people out there and the theater would need a good deodorizing. :rotfl2:

Our next plan of action was to zip through space in a shiny little rocketship and there were no rocketships in Fantasyland...new or old. Fastpasses in hand, well, on our Magicbands, we set off towards Tomorrowland to use our Space Mountain FP+. Only, when we got there, it was closed. Temporarily but, of course, they couldn’t tell us how long “temporarily” was. We were told that we could either wait and use the FP later if/when it reopened or we could use them for any FP attraction in the park.

We looked at each other and John said “I wasn’t going to ride Space Mountain anyway ‘cause it hurts my back.” Hunter and I figured that we could ride it later in the trip. So? What do we use it on? :confused3 Buzz Lightyear was just around the corner and seemed like a good choice.

When we got to the Fastpass entrance, there was a group of teenagers and one person who I guess was supposed to be a chaperone (though she acted more like a pouty rude teenager than the actual teenagers) and they were having problems using their Fastpasses. The castmember was trying to explain to them that there was no Buzz Lightyear Fastpass on their Magicbands (any of the probably eight or nine of them) and they couldn’t get another Fastpass until they used their third one which was for XYZ attraction. One of the teenagers was in a WDW rented wheelchair and the chaperone was trying to use that fact to get them in. I can’t remember exactly what she said but you could totally tell that’s what she was doing. I mean, come one, seriously? I’m not saying that the guy didn’t need the wheelchair but what does his being in a wheelchair have to do with your group not having a Fastpass for Buzz? The castmember was nice but firm and told them that they would have to wait until they used their other Fastpass and try to get another one after using it. After more grumbling, the group finally left.

We tapped our Magicbands and were walking through the queue. We were moving so fast that I didn’t have much time to take pictures.

I took just one more picture before the game began:

And only one while we were battling it out:

John and I were in one car and Hunter was in another. I was bound and determined that I was going to beat the guys this time. I was aiming for the targets that were the furthest away and John was whining about his gun not shooting like it should. Whatever sucka! :p

Hey Hunter:

Once we were done, Hunter turned and we asked what his score was and I don’t remember what he said but it was pretty good. Better than mine, I do remember that (shoulda forgot).

My score:

which wasn’t fantabulous but it was better than John’s:

**Continued in next post

We checked out the wait time for Buzz and it was too long so we made the trip up the super steep conveyor belt to the Tomorrowland Transit Authority which was scheduled to be closed in a few days. You can hold hands but you can’t dance:

Astro Orbitor was also scheduled to be down for refurb soon and we could see that there were quite a few people waiting to ride:

You could tell that Space Mountain was still closed because there were hardly any people in that area:

More pictures taken from the TTA:

You can see some construction of what is supposed to be a new walkway in the hub:

More pictures:

Dadgum it! I had pictures of Space Mountain lit up but I guess they didn’t upload to Photobucket. :sad2: Oh well, it was lit up but we didn’t see anybody working on it. Still neat to see.

After our spin on the TTA (which we love by the way for no real reason other than it’s a nice way to get off your feet and people watch), we walked over to Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor.

Hunter and I sent in our jokes by text and crossed our fingers that one of them would be chosen.

It took me a while to figure our my new “big girl” phone and I sent two or three jokes without putting in the correct word in front of it or something dumb like that. In my defense, I had just gotten the phone and wasn’t sure how to work all of it’s bells and whistles yet. :p

This beautiful woman came up on the screen and that’s when John said “I love me a woman with cat eye glasses and a big ol' mole!”

Roz is one of his favorite Disney characters. Made me wonder about his choice of women and my self confidence level was knocked down a notch or two. :goodvibes

The short film that was shown in the pre-show area had changed since our last trip and now included the Monster’s University theme. It was still quite cute and funny. The show was, as always, great but could have been better because one of the guys that the mind reader chose was quite a booty and wouldn’t cooperate. At first, I wondered if he really understood or got what was going on but then we realized that he was just being a d..., a b..., you get the drift. :furious: He wouldn’t answer the questions and the character on the screen was trying to save the gig but finally had to just call it quits and the show continued on. Don’t you know that the castmember holding the microphone wanted to just bonk him over the head with microphone out of frustration.

**Continued in next post

We had dinner reservations this evening at Downtown Disney and it seemed like now was as good a time as any to start making our way out of the park. Me, being me, took pictures as we walked:

The Caribbean Beach Resort’s bus stop at the Magic Kingdom is the next to the last one (or it was at the time) on the new section of the bus stop loop. When we got there, we were the only ones waiting:

From the looks of my backsack and the fact that Hunter is holding a bag, it looks like we bought something but I am not sure what it was. :confused3 I believe that I took pictures of all of our souvenirs after we got home so maybe I’ll remember when I see the pictures again.

Even though we were the only ones at the bus stop and, as you can see from the above pictures, this was not peak travel to and from resorts to parks time, we didn’t have to wait long for a bus to come. We were back at Caribbean Beach before too long and we had a little time to rest before getting ready to head back out again for the evening.

**Up next: If you’re happy and you know it, lick your nose!

Ya know - in two trips to Disney World, we have not yet ridden on the People Mover! And we meant to. We just never quite got around to it.

As usual, I love looking at your pictures. You always seem to catch great details.

I love reading your updates & seeing your pictures!

I am so sad Philarmagic will be closed for refurb when we get there in 2 weeks! I've never tried it, but it sounds like something I would enjoy!

"You can hold hands but you can’t dance"- this just cracked me up. :rotfl2:

"After our spin on the TTA (which we love by the way for no real reason other than it’s a nice way to get off your feet and people watch)" haha, this also made me laugh. People watching is always a fun thing to do :rotfl:

I also love Roz! She is one of my favorites as well. I've never done Monsters Inc Laugh floor so I can't wait to do this attraction.

I always wonder when reading peoples trip reports...
Do you take notes on your trip to help with your trip reports or do you just follow along with your pictures to remember what you did all day?

I love Philharmagic too, definitely my favorite "show" at WDW :lovestruc

Too bad Space Mountain was down, and that you then had to listen to that group try to get in with a FP :headache: Good job beating John's score though.

I'll have to remember not to dance on TTA when I'm there in 4 months :rotfl: I so love that attraction too, if only for the chance to rest my feet.

:furious: to the dude that wouldn't cooperate during Laugh Floor. I mean, come on man it's a funny bit and then it's over.

Great pics! I love the one of the Astro Orbiter with the planets. And not only is Hunter hilarious, he is so handsome! You have a heartbreaker on your hands there.

LOL at John and Roz. You are definitely better looking than her. What's John's deal? :rotfl2: We have some good jokes for Laugh Floor. I hope one of them gets picked when we go!

Yay for no bus line. That's the best. Can't wait to see where you go for dinner.

Oh, and what's up with those people in the wheelchair? Wheelchair does not = fastpass.
