Noticed that Disney cut the value season in early February from the 11th during this year to the 7th in 2016. Was toying with the idea of going the 3-8, but that rate increase now on that Sunday night, I will pass.

We usually travel in late August/early September. Used to get a Value 2 rate at the moderates, many years past got Value rates, now they are just Fall rates. Comparing a two week stay I booked for 2015 on a bounceback while we were there in 2014, with rack rates for that same time period with the same tickets, package price is up nearly $650 for us in one year, just a small portion of that is the increase in ticket prices. We usually book FD, but with these rack rates will have to give some serious thought to shortening our trip or look at other discounts, maybe other vacation destinations altogether. Was used to a $200 or so increase, this is just getting too high too fast.

Mardi Gras is Feb 9 next year (super early), and that draws a lot of gulf coast travelers - I'm betting it's related to that.

Gets my vote. It's also very early in the game. More discounts could come. It will all be fine.

Mardi Gras may just be the reason. Do you think it will affect the Friday and Saturday before that?

I was there for Mardi Gras in 2013 when it was the Tuesday before Presidents Day and I didn't think the crowds were bad at all - the only day I really noticed them was on Mardi Gras Tuesday proper at the MK, and they were a fun bunch. I would assume that the Friday before, the schools are still in session, and most folks would be traveling on Saturday. I wouldn't worry about it, myself.

Your thread did make me go back and look at the rates, and I was surprised that the dates I would have gone in Feb next year (2/6-13) were actually about 6.75 higher than the April 9-16 dates I want to go (which made me feel better about my desire to go in April, frankly.)

Oh, ps, when I went in 2013, that Mardi Gras week was still Value Season, so they DID change it this year to raise rates for MG week.
