I'm not sure where this should be posted. I have been looking into the Disney land & sea cruises & would love to hear from others that have done this. I am thinking a 3 day cruise with four days on land. Do you go out to sea 1st or stay at your resort? I would love to set something up around our Anniversary next year. Is there a forum for discussion on this? Thanks! :sunny:

In my own humble opinion, after haveing done a 7 day cruise, and staying at WDW at other times, I think you would be better off just doing the cruise to celebrate your anniversary. The cruise is so special, and I think you need the 7 day to fully appreciate it. Just my opinion, I'm sure others would disagree. 7 days wasn't long enough for me.

Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy!

You'll get much better response (from the experts too) if you post this on the Disney Cruise Line board here, even if you're talking about land and sea.

Thanks skyhawk :sunny: I was considering the 3 day cruise beings this would be my 1st & I'm not sure how I would react being at sea. Don't want to ruin it by feeling ill  Could you tell me more about the cruise & where you go, what you do? I was thinking of adding on the romance package, do you think this would be worth it? Sorry for allthe questions :goodvibes

Thank you Dodie! :sunny: I did a search but I guess I did not look hard enough. I will go check this out :earsboy:

I thought the same thing last March-didn't know how I would do on the "at sea" part. I found that it was much cheaper to book the land and sea parts separately-you don't usually get any kind of a code for the cruise part but you can get some great deals on the land part.

So we booked 3 days before and 3 days after our 4 day cruise as separate reservations (3). We liked it so much that we will do the exact same thing again in December!

We went to stay at WDW 1st but for 3 days before the cruise but didn't go to the parks. We hung out at the pool and played miniature golf. We then went on the 7 day cruise and came back for 5 more days at WDW. We went to the parks then.

Check out the Cruise Forum. There is a lot of useful information there. I spent a lot of time there before my DCL cruise as it was a 1st for us and we had been to WDW numerous times.

P.S. The DCL cruise was great. I hope to do one again sometime. :flower:

We've done 7-night as well as 4-night cruises and they are both special in their own ways. We always couple our 4-night cruises with WDW stays, as well. To us, the two lengths are very different.

Definitely visit the cruise board here on the DIS...there are a ton of resources and varied opinions over there.

The land/sea package puts WDW first and sea second. You can book separately if you want to do the cruise portion first, which is what we are going to do. Also, if you book the package, cat. are linked to certain resorts. If you have a certain resort you want to stay at but not spend that much on the cruise portion, you will need to book separately also. Hope this helps some.

Land and sea packages does not hold anything for us. We have cruised DCL for the last 2 years and currently have two more booked. One this year and another next year. We promised the DK's last year we would do Disney this year verses a cruise. We did go for a week in June. Boy, did I have blisters. I like WDW, but this is not myidea of a vacation. I actually could not wait to get home. We are suppose to do a 4 day cruise in 2006 with a few days at Disney added, but the more I think about it the less I want to do that. I think we are going to do another 7 day DCL and forget the theme parks.

If you do decide to do the land/sea package. I would try to do WDW before your cruise and leave that last. You do not have to purchase a land.sea package. You might want to check into the pricing of booking the land/sea verses the pricing of booking them seperately. Sometimes, not all the time, you can save some money this way.

Thank you all for your help :goodvibes I am reading the cruise boards now & getting all excited :bounce: Nothing has really been planned yet, but the more I read & the pictures I am seeing are making me want to plan a trip :p

Tink -

If you do the Land/Sea through Disney, with 4 days Land and 3 days sea, then the land portion will come first (Sun - Thursday) and then the cruise (Thursday - Sun). If you book it separately, you could do either first.

We did this for our first cruise in May 2004, and then booked a 7 day Western for Sept 2005. For me, I was really tired after the land portion, and after running around WDW for several days, found it hard to really relax on the cruise. I really prefer to do WDW on a separate vacation. However, if you have to travel far to get to FL, then I guess it makes sense to try to do it all in one visit.

Anyway, I'll be able to tell you more after we get back Sept 17th! :cool1:

We are doing a 5 day wdw land package then a 3 day cruise immediatly following and it saved us a lot of money.. the land/ sea packages you cant by the dining package with so that is why we booked seperately. 8 days for less than 6,000 for 4 people.. I felt was a great deal..

Thanks

most of the time it is cheaper to book land and sea seperately...we went on a 4 day cruise after 6 days at WDW last year and loved it! we are now addicted to cruising! But i felt the same way you did, a little unsure about cruising...i think a 4 day cruise is a great way to see if cruising is for you..we loved it but i met a few families that hated it (due to seasickness) and 3 extra days would have been horrible for them....so do both and enjoy! :flower:

I'd have to agree with other posters and say book separately-but if you do, do the land portion first. My family and I did a 3n, then 3days at disney-it was exhausting, to say the least. plus, we had gotten into the habit of getting a snack and walking away w/o paying for it, so when we got to WDW...well, my sister almost wound up in disney jail for stealing a dole whip! :rotfl2:

I got a quote from a travel agent for a 3 day cruise, now I just need to figure out the price for the land part ;) I did go through the Disney site just to see what the whole package would cost & now I can compare. Thanks everyone :sunny:

Thought I'd share my situation with you. I am a 1st time cruiser so I wasn't really sure what I was doing. I originally booked a Cat 5 land/sea trip. we were going to stay at the BC. THEN, I discovered these boards and realized I could have saved a lot of money! I also really wanted to do the MYW + dining and I couldn't do that with the land/sea package. SO, I cancelled the land portion of my package and instead am staying at the CBR. I was able to add an extra night and the dining package for about the same price as my original land/sea package. I would like to do more than a 3 night but we are going during our Mardi Gras break and a 4 night was not offered at that time. I was thrilled to have an extra night in WDW (5 instead of 4) and have all of my dining prepaid for. Hope this information helps.

Thank you! From checking prices I think booking the sea & land seperatly is the better way to go. I also like another posters idea of staying at a resort a few days before going on the cruise and then staying at a resort again after returning. This sounds good to me ;) I'm not real fond of water, so dh was surprised I mentioned the cruise. I told him it's because it is Disney :goodvibes

Staying before and after also helps with the headache of your plane arriving late and rushing to port or the other way when leaving, either rushing to catch your plane to leave or sitting at the airport for hours waiting to leave. I find it much more relaxing to arrive a couple of days earlier than the cruise and leave a couple of days later after the cruise.
