Hi, just thinking out loud, watched a few you tube video's about battle of the horns and noticed the Disney Magic just has one theme while the newer ships have quite a few, why don't they upgrade the Magic to include more themes? Thanks

Many people like the classic ships' (Magic and Wonder) horns the way they are. As why they have not upgraded....who knows!!! Disney does what they do when they want to do it.

Some say the sound quality is different on the new ships' horns.....not as rich sounding as it is digital.

Thanks for the response, did I read that right you have been on 38 Disney cruises????

I like that the Magic/Wonder have the original horns. I hope they don't change them.

I hope not either, I'm just thinking they could add a theme or two extra. Watching these You-Tube battle of the horns. And hearing passengers laugh and say it that all you have (meaning the Magic just has the one theme).

The Magic and Wonder are true horns, the Dream and Fantasy is all digital. Much rather have the true horn sound.

After 8 cruises I still get a thrill out of the DCL ships horns making music creatively out of an ordinary, boring, strangled goose sound that other cruise lines offer when pushing off. With the many innovations on their current ships, I can't wait to see what they'll come up with in the two new ones. Perhaps the horns will play the entire score from Fantasia.

I think there are technical limitations that prevent them from doing so without replacing the entire system, as the newer ships use a digital horn and the original ships use a traditional horn. I also think the traditional horn may be tied to how the ship operates on the classic ship making replacement difficult, if not impossible.

I love the horns but especially when we have gone into a new port and the people on shore hearing it for the first time. Also when we are near other ships with their boring horns!

Same here. I find the "horn" sound on the Dream class ships more piercing. The Magic class ship the horns are much more mellow.

Although the range of songs that can be played on the new horns is impressive, I also prefer the sound of the classics.

I love the songs on the horns, HOWEVER... they are just snippets of a song. After hearing it, I have that song running in my head. The least they could do is play the tune over the sound system afterwards. :smickey:

Magic's horn is actually a horn. Dream/Fantasy sounds like an imitation of a horn being played through a loud speaker. jmop

Neither of them have the dukes of hazzard sound, so I couldn't really care less.
