If you decide to take a Disney Cruise with your points, does the number quoted in the Dreams Book include your meals. We know it wouldn't be the "best" use of our points, but we really want to take a cruise.

Thanks!

When you book a cruise all your meals are included w/ the exception of dining at Palio's the adult specialty restaurant. Almost all non alcoholic drinks are included also.

Palo dining is included. Their is a slight surcharge though.

There is also a charge for pre-packaged snacks (candy bars, bags of popcorn, etc.) and coffee drinks at the Cove Cafe.

Room Service is included (free) but you should tip the CM who delivers it to you.

are alcoholic drinks included? Most cruises are unlimited drinks of any kind but someone posted that nonalcoholic were included. Just curious.

No. On the 7-night sailings there is a Captain's Cocktail party and waiters circulate through the Atrium (lobby) with trays of assorted drinks (Mai Tais, glasses of wine, etc.) but that's it. Other alcoholic drinks, smoothies and coffee drinks from the Cove Cafe all have a charge. Soda is free from the Deck 9 soda station and in the dining rooms but will have a charge at bars and through room service.

FYI, alcoholic drinks are not free on any cruise lines that I am aware of. The charges for alcholic drinks make up a large part of a cruise ship's revenue. Also, most cruise lines charge for sodas, either per purchase or for a cruise-long soda package (ie $30 for the length of your cruise). DCL is one of the few cruise lines that offers free soda/soft drinks.

I have always felt that the "best" use of points is determined by using them on what makes you happy. I have cruised many times on points and points/cash combo and never regretted it.

The cruise is a marvelous vacation that includes not only your stateroom, transportation to ports of call and entertainment, but also all meals on board ship and the barbeque on DCL's private island Castaway Cay.

The others above summed up pretty well where you might spend a few bucks on certain foods and beverages.

Also, if you are so inclined, all staterooms include a mini fridge or "cold box" where you are welcome to bring your own beverages on board ship if you so desire. We are off on the DVC Member Cruise next month actually!

I always thought that you were not allowed to bring your own beverages, expecially alcohol? I was also under the impression that if you purchased a bottle while at port that the ship held it for you until you disembarked at the end of the cruise. Is that correct? I have nover done a cruise, but am hoping to soon.

While most cruise lines to not allow you to bring your own alcohol on board, Disney Cruise line does allow it. Also, if you purchase alcohol in the ports you bring it right back to your stateroom. They do not hold it for you. If, however, you purchase a bottle from the on-board liquor store they will hold the bottle until the night before you disembark. At that time it will be delivered to your stateroom.

Keep in mind that if you bring a bottle of wine onboard and bring it with you to the dining room they will charge you $15 + 15% gratuity as a "corkage fee". If, however, you pour your own glass in your stateroom and carry that to the dining room with you they will not charge you the fee. On all of our DCL cruises we have brought our own wine onboard and poured it in our stateroom. You can pick up wine glasses at any lounge/bar or room service will deliver them to your stateroom for you.

Yes you may bring beverages on board, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. US Customs laws will not allow you, however, to bring an opened bottle of alcohol back to shore when you return from your cruise. Crafty Mouse gave you the lowdown on the duty free shop on board ship, which is why they hold your purchase till you are ready to disembark back at PC.

Truthfully, we have brought some water and sodas in the past, but not a large quantity. I tend to stick to the "Drink of the Day" LOL!

WOW great to know. Now I need to know the details of the "Drink of the Day." How much does it cost, what types of drinks are they, etc. The elusive alcohol bill has been one of the factors that keeps us from booking. WEll that and my youngest is still not old enough for the kids club.

The drink of the day usually runs about $3.50-4.00 (plus automatically added 15% gratuity).
