Disney Cruise Line: Simulated Test Sailings With Volunteers Beginning June 29

To me, the lawsuits are connected to the Test Cruises. There are a lot of moving parts and I think the posts have been much more informative lately than "political". If the Cruise companies are not bound by the CSO, then it seems that the calculation/approach around test cruises changes potentially. The Fantasy is scheduled for a test cruise so I would like to see if that gets affected by these actions... I am on the Sept. 4 sailing.

Of course they are. So, to remove discussion of the lawsuits is unnecessarily heavy-handed moderating IMO. But whatever.

While the news of the postponement of the Dream's simulated voyage only became public one day prior to its scheduled date, it was reported that the decision was actually already made towards the end of the prior week. If so, that would put it right at about the two week mark now. So the fact she is back in port could mean they are preparing to conduct the test cruise in the next day or two...or just re-fueling and bringing on food/supplies. 🤪

One of the Disney accounts I follow on Instagram "seayarealsoon" posted a picture of the DCL bus showing it is picking up crew members and heading for the Disney Dream and will be picking up more crew members in the next few days. Fingers very crossed that things are moving forward.

Hmm...this actually surprises me. Since the Dream was supposed to have already completed her test cruise, I am surprised that new crew is joining now. Anyone who joins now has to wait their 14-day quarantine period. Just wonder how that lines up with their plan to do a rescheduled test cruise.

I agree. But I thought it was interesting and the person posting seemed very excited as she knows one of the crew members joining, I thought it was a credible post, so wanted to pass along.

Honestly, sounds like those early August sailings should have the fork stuck in if true.

Thanks! I need to use Instagram more. I wonder if the "crew" joining is more of the entertainment staff (singers, dancers, etc) than the run-the-ship type of crew.

At a minimum, this does tell us that they intend to sail revenue cruises in the not-too-distant future. Fingers crossed.

I tried to look on the person's page she tagged, but it is "private," I could only go down the rabbit hole so far. Ugh.😉

According to Instagram, CMs are doing their 14 day quarantine in Orlando hotels so are done with that by the time they board the ship.

Disney is quarantining crew in a hotel in Orlando for 2 weeks before letting them board, which apparently meets the quarantine requirement.

Do they have to quarantine for 14 days even if fully vaccinated?

I read it was a bunch of crew from Indonesia that all came over together. So exciting that the ships are finally staffing back up!

Alaska just withdrew its motion to intervene in the Florida v. CDC case. It said that while it still disagreed with the CDC, it wanted to take advantage of the Alaska Tourism Restoration Act, which requires port agreements under the Conditional Sailing Order. It acknowledged the recently approved port agreements for four of its ports and the Seattle port, conditional sailing certificates for five vessels sailing out of Seattle on Alaska-bound cruises, and that an additional vessel scheduled for Alaska-bound cruises has been approved for a simulated voyage out of Seattle.

I very much appreciate your fact based updates!!

Per this tweet the Wonder is in Port Everglades until 8/20. Or at least she is scheduled to depart then. The first MX cruise from SD that shows on the DCL website is 9/24. A revenue cruise through the PC would take 14 days, but simply repositioning would take much less time (no ports of call). Departing for San Diego around 8/20 should give the Wonder time to transit and satisfy the CDC test cruise requirements before 9/24.

We shall see...

Both the Dream and Fantasy are in port today. Still no news about a rescheduled test cruise. The CDC color code site isn't updated on weekends so it still shows the Dream as Red. Fingers crossed that it moves to orange or green in the next 2 days and finally sets sail.
